Gulags Are A Go

Ominous portents a-plenty and Biden hasn’t even been inaugurated yet….

Tim Pool did a video on a proposed bit of legislation in New York state, Assembly Bill A416. What does this bill propose? Just that the state of New York can involuntarily detain anyone deemed to be a potential risk to “public health”. 

The summary of the bill is clinical and grim:

THE GOVERNOR OR HIS OR HER  DELEGEE,  INCLUDING,  BUT  NOT  LIMITED  TO THE COMMISSIONER OR THE HEADS OF LOCAL HEALTH DEPARTMENTS, MAY ORDER THE REMOVAL AND/OR DETENTION OF SUCH A PERSON OR OF A GROUP OF SUCH PERSONS BY ISSUING A SINGLE ORDER,  IDENTIFYING  SUCH  PERSONS  EITHER  BY  NAME  OR  BY  A  REASONABLY SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF THE INDIVIDUALS OR GROUP BEING DETAINED. SUCH  PERSON  OR GROUP OF PERSONS SHALL BE DETAINED IN A MEDICAL FACILITY OR OTHER APPROPRIATE  FACILITY  OR  PREMISES  DESIGNATED BY THE GOVERNOR OR HIS OR HER DELEGEE AND COMPLYING WITH SUBDIVISION FIVE OF THIS SECTION.

Even the commissioner or head of a local health department may order the detention of a person or a group of such persons by “a single order”. 

We have gone from “social distance and wear masks for a couple of weeks to flatten the curve” to an entire year of lockdowns and are now having conversations about detaining people and groups of people if some local tinpot dictator in the health department declares they are a “dangerous to the public health”. 

As usual, the Chinese coronavirus is the excuse but this goes way beyond a phony pandemic and has pretty dangerous application beyond the ‘rona.

When I saw Tim’s video, the first thing that I thought of was a mostly ignored new threat to free speech and expression from earlier in 2020. I mentioned it in this post, Free Speech Is Cancelled, and this is what I wrote:

As usual the Republicans in Ohio are tripping over themselves to not appear racist and GOP Senate President Larry Obhof is going to have an actual meeting with the Black Caucus and treat their suggestion as if it is serious.

If you have a couple of synapses firing, there is an obvious question here. How is “racism”, an amorphous term that means something different to every person you ask and at best measures an attitude, a “public health crisis”? How is it a health issue at all?

It isn’t and no one is pretending it is. It serves a different purpose that has nothing to do with the public health.

What it would do is provide a pretext for stifling free speech and neutering the First Amendment by labeling speech that runs counter to the accepted narrative as no longer free expression but a matter of “public health”.

OK, now notice that in Ohio you have black legislators pushing to declare “racism” to be a “public health crisis” and in New York you have the state assembly pushing to allow for the involuntary “removal and detention” of people deemed to be a threat to….the public health. Ohio was hardly alone in suggesting that “racism” is a “public health crisis”. The leftist American Medical Association, which is supposed to be an organization dealing with actual medicine, ran this editorial in November of 2020:

This came out about the same time as another editorial from the AMA I mentioned in my post, mEd-U-sHiN, where a physician’s group declared  race to be a “social, not biological, construct”, something that flies in the face of science, medicine and common sense.

Simply searching “racism public health crisis” yields a bunch of results from CNN, the Harvard School of Public Health, Pew, Cornell Health and the Smithsonian. 

As you can see, this is not a coordinated effort aimed simply at looting more funding for bullshit “racial justice” programs and stifling free speech but in conjunction with the idea of being able to involuntarily detain people for being potentially a threat to public health means the framework is in place to arrest, detain and commit people for being “racist”. 

I am sure that won’t be abused at all.

What if someone refuses to be “detained and removed”? Will we see no-knock raids similar to red flag law raids? 

Just remember that “racism” is an intentionally amorphous concept that means whatever someone wants it to mean so there is really no limit on what can be labelled “racist” and therefore a threat to “public health”. If the Powers That Be declare that failing to wear a black Lives Matter t-shirt and “voluntarily” paying “reparations” to any black that demands your wallet is “racist”, you just became a threat to the public heath.

In the name of keeping us “safe” we are on the verge of seeing our few remaining civil liberties gutted. 

I don’t generally ask people to share my posts but I would ask you to share this one. People need to wake up and understand that while we are waiting for the kraken to be released and watching sports on the tube, the Left is coordinating their efforts and pushing us into a corner.
