Tyrants Gonna Tyrant: Public Health Emergencies And Civil Liberties

Out West in New Mexico (pronounced Meh-he-co), the people of the state for some reason elected a broad named Michelle Lujan Grisham to be their governor. Because she lives in New Mexico, she leaves her maiden name (Lujan) prominently presented to appeal to her mestizo constituents, and apparently the Lujan family are some kind of swarthy skinned New Mexico equivalents of the Kennedy family in Massachusetts. Anyway, she got all sad because the gangbangers in her state can’t shoot for shit and keep capping li’l chidlins.

A bit of background, according to the USCCA New Mexico is a “shall issue” concealed carry state, based on a law that was passed in New Mexico and signed into law. It is also legal to carry openly without a license, another law codified in New Mexico code. You may also carry in a vehicle without a permit or license. You do have to take classes and stuff, it isn’t a “constitutional carry” state but still, by state law carrying firearms in a variety of ways is permitted.

Along comes the head of the New Mexico gynocracy declaring a “public health emergency” and ordering a “30-day ban” on carrying firearms.

Stunning. Brave. Illegal. From the linked AP article….

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.

The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act because of recent shootings, including the death of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.

Lujan Grisham said state police would be responsible for enforcing what amount to civil violations. Albuquerque police Chief Harold Medina said he won’t enforce it, and Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen said he’s uneasy about it because it raises too many questions about constitutional rights.

I assume the lawsuits have already been drafted and/or filed. Not to mention that the chief of police in Albuquerque and the sheriff of the county where Albuquerque is located have both basically said they aren’t going to bother with it. In short, her order doesn’t have the force of law, won’t be enforced by the cops and is patently a violation of state law.

So what is the point?

The obvious one is virtue signaling: “See, I am doing something!”. No one thinks it will do anything and it can’t be enforced anyway but it demonstrates that Michelle Lujan Grisham CaresTM and Caring is all that matters.,

More important, it builds on the Covid precedent that says you can suspend civil liberties and the law in the event of a “public health emergency”. Those three magic words are like a royal writ to allow wannabe tyrants to circumvent petty little obstacles like the Constitution. Governor Grisham seems like a dimwit bimbo so I am sure she didn’t come up with this idea on her own. Someone Grima Wormtongued it into her ears and she dutifully scribbled her name on the paper.

Covid lockdowns weren’t the point in and of themselves, the point was the creation of a new backdoor to get around civil liberties and using “public health emergency” powers is the key. I wrote about this a few times in 2020 and 2021 as we began to see a push for redefining “racism” as a “public health crisis”, something supported by the American Marxist Medical Association (see: Gulags Are A Go). I wrote in June 2020, in the wake of Western Rifle Shooters original page being deplatformed: Free Speech Is Cancelled

The push to suppress free speech is not restricted to social media. In neighboring Ohio, the Ohio Legislative Black Caucus proposed a resolution to declare the wrong opinion to be a disease.

Ohio Democrats push to declare racism a public health crisis

As usual the Republicans in Ohio are tripping over themselves to not appear racist and GOP Senate President Larry Obhof is going to have an actual meeting with the Black Caucus and treat their suggestion as if it is serious.

If you have a couple of synapses firing, there is an obvious question here. How is “racism”, an amorphous term that means something different to every person you ask and at best measures an attitude, a “public health crisis”? How is it a health issue at all?

It isn’t and no one is pretending it is. It serves a different purpose that has nothing to do with the public health.

What it would do is provide a pretext for stifling free speech and neutering the First Amendment by labeling speech that runs counter to the accepted narrative as no longer free expression but a matter of “public health”.

If you can suspend civil liberties and the rule of law because of a “public health emergency” and “racism” is a PHE, then you can arrest people for saying something that hurts the feelings of a black person. The American Medical Association says so!

As usual, the bigger issue is not the headline. The actions by the matronly governor of New Mexico are silly and won’t even be enforced. The Big Issue is that we continue to see Them pushing to use “public health emergencies”, often defined as issues that have nothing to do with “health” as a pretext to shutting down free speech and violating civil liberties.

Covid wasn’t the end of this, it was only the beginning. Watch for a lot more of this in the next 12 months.

They’re testing the waters again. They’ll get all the compliance they need once their cunt media ramps up the fear. Manufacture another ‘lethal’ crisis and the sheeple will give up their rights – and guns this time – and terrorize the few that stand tall. Few cops if any will put their careers on the line and will instead join in the persecution. Sound familiar? Phase 2 on the way.
And, as you stated, the adjunct scam will be the further implementation of even more draconian ‘hate speech’ laws to ‘protect’ the usual suspects. Foreskin chewers like DeSantis et. al. have already begun criminalizing ‘anti-semitic’ discourse re. jews and boycotts of Israhell. ‘Oppressed’ nigger talismans will be also be hoisted up another level on a similar pedestal, as will Latrinos, freaks and womyn. They’re all dying to emulate the measures enacted in most of Europe.
Gotta devolve into Europe before ultimately ending up being West China, and as long as white people enable it we’re gonna get there!

That’s an old ploy; CDC used to fund “studies” about it years ago. Congress even stopped letting them do that after a while.

Short of hanging all the politicians in Albuquerque, it would be amusing if EVERYBODY with a gun would open carry (wire your gun into your holster if you are nervous about it). The very best kind of law or mandate, is one that everybody disobeys.

    Right you are, Arthur!

Our prime minister up here in Canada is a gun grabbing bitch too – and he can go fuck himself with a chainsaw – I will even start it for him.

Don’t comply and be ungovernable! 😊👍

I also think this is a test of the waters. And I don’t think it originated in that governor’s head, or staff. This came from much higher, as they jumped on this opportunity in a back water state. They’ll learn something one way or another, as they plot to take it all apart.

“More important, it builds on the Covid precedent that says you can suspend civil liberties and the law in the event of a “public health emergency”.”

    Exactly.
The Left knows all about moving the Overton Window. You see this all the time, where they suggest something utterly crazy, it gets shot down. Then the usual suspects (academia, journos) start writing “thoughtful” articles discussing it in a “non-partisan” way. Eventually it just sort of goes into effect, with cuckservatives wondering what happened. Cuckservatives vaguely opposed it at every step of the way, yet somehow they fail. Perfect example of that:

“…Bernalillo County Sheriff John Allen said he’s uneasy about it because it raises too many questions about constitutional rights.”

Uneasy? He should be outraged. It only raises 1 question, which shouldn’t even be asked as it was answered 230ish years, with a very specific method of raising that question if you want to try changing the answer.

One of the scarier aspects of covidiocy was when Biden suggested that perhaps we should consider shutting down travel between states… I’m sure cuckservatives will vaguely oppose that when it inevitably comes up again, and in 20 years will be claiming that supporting radical ideas like freedom of travel “isn’t who we are.”

“Someone (((Grima Wormtongued))) it into her ears and she dutifully scribbled her name on the paper.”

    FIFY, Art.

In a wider context, the whole “State of Emergency” nonsense has been going on for since, well, when the Congress was Dissolved by the Secession of some States, and the Republicunt Party under Lincoln created a Rump Congress that declared it still had ‘jurisdiction’ over the Sovereign States that had Left.

The “State of Emergency” concept has absolutely No Constitutional Basis, it Exists solely because Tyrants who ‘play that card’ don’t immediately get Shot or Strung Up from the nearest Lamppost. The Fact that there are at this Time, quite a few “Emergency Declarations” extant from the feral ‘government’, (some dating back to WWII, IIRC) only illustrates that the (s)Elected Officials absolutely don’t give a Damn about the Constitution.

  7. Xzebek

If the reporting is accurate (always a dicey bet) numerous Sheriff’s and police chiefs have stated that they will not attempt to enforce this. I hope that is true.

What’s Her Face “Fake Mexican” Grisham was elected by the same slight of hand as Ol’ J’Obiden. Clearly her deft and ambitious trampling of the rights of her constituency is both repugnant to The Constitution, AND it is exactly the opposite of what actually prevents violent crime-I.E.-effective law enforcement(which may not be possible in Albuquerque in particular) and an armed citizenry. Ironically, both of which are repugnant to leftists in general and KHOMMUNISM in particular. The centerpiece, however, of her illegal and treasonous edict is the ascension of “THE PANDEMIC” as the all-powerful emergency brake on ANYTHING the totalitarian government wishes to abolish-be it free speech, right to self protection, freedom of movement, private ownership etc. The real pandemic in this world is the depth and the breadth of misfit, satanic miscreants that have taken over nearly every segment of civilization.

The Bible commands us to “cast out the wicked among you”. The US has for decades failed to do this. We are now paying the consequence. When I was a kid, Popeye was a doer, the Roadrunner was an overachiever against his archenemy, the incompetent Wile E. Coyote, and Bugs Bunny defeated all comers with humor, sarcasm and panache. These gave way to SpongeBob SquarePants in the 90’s or 2000’s I guess? SpongeBob was and is the posterboy for whiny incompetence and millions upon millions of now-of-age participants in our society were raised on his bs. The would-be inmates are now running the asylum. As often said now days-plan accordingly.

CPUSA gonna commie, it will be destroyed it if isn’t already.
Burning it all down, one state at a time.
I did pick up a nice poncho and turquoise jewelry on a road trip as a lil’ shaver and Red Dawn was actually filmed in the glorious peoples republic of New Mexico.
    Si se puede!
Forward to the land of free milk and honey, yes we can.

I keep coming back to an idea stated by Hiding Out above that I have not seen anywhere else since: “I also think this is a test of the waters. And I don’t think it originated in that governor’s head, or staff. This came from much higher, as they jumped on this opportunity in a back water state.”
I agree that this whole debacle likely did not originate with the guvernator. It will be interesting to keep our eyes on the fallout and how it’s being played.

    • Gryphon

Exactly True, Greg, this has all the appearance of a “Test”, in this case to see if (((they))) can “Suspend” both State Law and Constitutional Principle. In order for the “Test” to be effective, it will have to be “Enforced”, i.e. someone will have to be Arrested… but for What, exactly? This “Executive Order” so directly Contradicts the existing State Law and Constitution, how does any “Law Enforcement” agency even Write Up a “Violation” to present to a Magistrate? If the Courts go along with it, they then become Illegitimate, along with “Law Enforcement” by way of saying “the Law is whatever the F’kk we Say it is.”

It seems Unlikely that any Sheriff is going to want to ‘stick their neck in that noose’ with regards to the Legal Action that will certainly be taken against them. I can see any and all “Big City” Chief of Piglets going right along, confident in the Fact that the Corrupt Politicians will Protect them.

Since it is an “Open Carry” State, it would be entertaining to see if a few Thousand People showed up with Guns at the Statehouse. This happened in Virginia, and boy, you’ve Never Seen such Polite and Friendly ‘Police Officers’ when Outgunned by about 100 to 1.
