Can you believe it has been 5 years since the “uprising”, “attack on OUR DEMOCRACY!”, “attempted insurrection!” on January 6th, 2021? The date has become one of the High Holy Days on the leftist liturgical calendar and no dissenting views of that day are allowed.
I remember that day well. It was a pretty surreal sight online and like most I had no idea what was happening. We didn’t know at the time that the crowd was lousy with Feds or that no one was armed.
We also had no idea that the Federal government would spend the following years hunting down anyone that was at the Capitol that day regardless of any “criminal” behavior other than trespassing in a public building and other minor mischief.
Nor that turncoats in the GOP like Liz Cheney would then be involved in a witch hunt and retconning the events to become a “LITERAL INSURRECTION!”. Even today people still reference January 6th in hushed tones as if we nearly had OUR DEMOCRACY overthrown that day. Cumala Whorris called January 6th “…the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War”. Pointing out to someone as stupid as Cumala that a) we aren’t a democracy and b) it wasn’t threatened by some angry people protesting for a few hours is a waste of time.
It of course wasn’t an “insurrection” I am sad to say.
I point out to the social media January 6th screamers that we live in a nation with half a billion privately owned firearms with millions being sold every year. In a nation with that many guns we decided to “overthrow” the government by showing up unarmed to walk around the Capitol building for a few hours? Some cops were injured so that is a little different but it wasn’t like AOC was ravished by hordes of right-wing chads. If she had maybe she would be less bitchy.
The one person killed by gunfire on that day was an unarmed White woman named Ashli Babbitt, shot dead by a black cop named Michael Leroy Byrd (see: Say His Name: Lieutenant Michael Leroy Byrd ). How did he save “countless lives” by shooting a 5’2” slightly built unarmed White woman? I wrote in the above linked post:
Since they had the run of the place for several hours and yet the only person killed was an unarmed woman, murdered by Michael Leroy Byrd, it makes absolutely no sense to claim that he “saved countless lives” when no one was in danger in the first place. Yes there were some physical altercations, quite possibly instigated by paid FBI provocateurs, but that was pretty minor. The cop who died, his death blamed on Trump by the Leftist media, turned out to have died of natural causes.
Note this was from August of 2021 when we didn’t know for certain the extent of Feds agitating in the crowd.
The level of gaslighting and retconning that has gone on regarding January 6th puts even Charlottesville to shame. Thankfully more and more people are calling bullshit but that is of little comfort to the people who were locked up in inhumane conditions with no care for a speedy trial because they were trespassing in a public building. They will never get those years back. Nor has anyone involved in the lies and cover-up been prosecuted. Trump did finally pardon most of the protestors but then washed his hands of it in favor of seeing what Netanyahu and Miriam Adelson are demanding that day.
Raise a glass today to remember Ashli Babbitt and the J6 political prisoners and hope one day soon to see a real threat to “OUR DEMOCRACY”.
