If you missed the recent Academy Awards ceremony you are in good company. I think the last time I watched any of those shows was in 2004 when they awarded Return Of The King 11 Oscars kind of as a collective award for the trilogy. It doesn’t seem that long ago but cripes it was over 20 years in the past. That is like a lifetime ago. It wasn’t like I watched the awards show normally but I did that year just to see LotR finally get recognized.
Anyway the only people still watching the Hollywood award shows are older White women, blacks who are looking for an excuse to complain if blacks don’t win every award and homosexuals. The recent ceremony was watched by no one and little wonder as the “Best Film” was some crappy soft core porn flick. I wouldn’t even have thought about it but The Zman wrote about it today, The Death Of Hollywood. He argues that the main reason no one watches the awards shows is that most films today are just terrible. That is obviously true. According to Wikipedia, the “Best Film” of 2024, titled Anora was hardly a big draw: “As of March 4, 2025, Anora had grossed $16.3 million in the United States and Canada, and $25.3 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $41.6 million”. Sixteen million? Box office isn’t the main gauge of a film’s quality but if you only pulled in that much how good could the film be?
It is generally assumed that the reason most normal people don’t watch these shows is that no one wants to be scolded by a bunch of super wealthy leftist about how evil capitalism is and why you should not have air conditioning to save the planet, right after these same people flew from their 25,000 square foot mansion on a private jet to the ceremony. It’s obviously been really bad lately with Trump Derangement being the most consistent part of these shows but even without that the pompous self-congratulations are annoying as hell. Still, that has always been a part of these shows but something else has changed.
In years gone by people adored celebrities. Rock stars, top athletes and movie stars were placed on a pedestal and worshipped by many. One reason for this is that these people were inaccessible to us. We didn’t have access to Michael Jordan so all we really knew about him was that he was the greatest of all time in basketball. We didn’t see what an asshole he was. We only knew rock stars from their music or from a distance at concerts. They were larger than life and when they died of a drug overdose or something people were shocked. Actors like Robert DeNiro were just people we saw on huge screens and what we knew of their personal lives came to us in a carefully scripted and edited form in interviews.
Then something started happening in the mid-2000s. Facebook and Twitter hit the internet and it wasn’t long before celebrities started posting their once hidden inner thoughts in public for all the world to see. The result? People started to find out that these celebrities were abject assholes. The mystery was gone and we got to see what these people really thought, of themselves, of our country and of us. It was ugly. They didn’t care about “the fans”, in general they despised the people that made them filthy rich for playing make-believe in front of a camera or for dribbling a basketball.
Instead of realizing they were killing the goose that laid the golden egg, these idiots started to double and triple down. When not scolding us on Twitter, they were scolding us on stage at the Academy Awards. They started kneeling during the National Anthem because some shitty 2G died of heart failure while resisting arrest. Musical groups like Green Day and Rage Against The Machine began to really think they were somehow fighting The Man while making tens of millions playing shitty music.
It really is a combination of factors. The endless political posturing. The crappy products. Most of all the way they have exposed themselves by giving normal people a glimpse into the cesspool of their minds. As The Zman and others have pointed out, pretty soon AI will replace most of them anyway. Why put up with prima donna musicians and actors when AI can generate the same basic stuff for next to nothing?
People who were once treated with near divine devotion are now reviled and best of all? They did it to themselves and no one is more deserving of being knocked off a pedestal than these people.
DeNiro was and is a fuckin pussy. I love how these assholes think that because they pretend to be a tough guy…they THINK they are tough guys. That fucker’s dad was a polesmoker in NYC and some kind of artist. But he’s a tough guy. GTFOH. And you’re right, Art. Fuck these award shows. They ought to be giving them used rubbers as awards instead of what they are giving them.
Not only that, but DeNiro married a nig and had 6 “biracial” kids. The rot runs deep with this one.
DeNiro was not only a giant diminutive asshole, he was the OG oil driller at a time when pretty much nobody did that. And then went on to become an even bigger diminutive asshole in his geriatric phase of life. Fuck that guy.
he needs to be “travis bickled”
Reminds me of Joe Pesci, does anyone buy him as a tough guy?
Off topic.
Check out the nigger news in Huntertown Indiana.
Public nudity, guns, organ transplants and murder of a fambly member and shit .
Taurean Hayden has a pretty good mugshot
Just posted about him!
Yessir. In ancient Rome, it is said that actors (of the stage, obviously) were considered to be in the same societal level as prostitutes. And really, that’s giving them more credit than they deserve. Prostitutes at least deliver honest work for the money paid (not that I’m interested, but all the same).
Actors, however, are professional liars. They are paid – often quite handsomely in our screwed up society – to pretend to be/look like/sound like someone they aren’t, and even the dialog and direction on how they should achieve that end is all provided by someone else. They are literally just a meat sack acting out lines someone else wrote, and even if the contribute their own “interpretation”, there is still someone off screen suggesting how they need to do it, and calling for another take if the first one wasn’t to the boss’s liking. So the question is, how did they get to be so reversed? Conscious say biggest problem caused by those in smallest hat, and ((((they))) obviously have much to do with the emergence of Hollywood and the way that whole system worked for so long. Now (((they ))) are also a major part of the reason the illusion has been busted and doesn’t work anymore. Their screwed up political ambitions killed their golden ticket in the movie biz, and I could couldn’t give less of a fuck if I tried.
Now, musicians are in the same yet slightly different sort of category. A real musician at least has a concrete and useful technical talent, and the best of them are often not the biggest and best known, nor the highest paid. Many in our modern era are nearly full fabrications, having a minimum of talent other than having a look and personality that a bunch of tit suckers and hangers on can exploit for profit. Modern technology can and does provide a lot of cover for mediocrity.
And I will say that while I used to try and avoid associating music I liked with the individual (s) who performed it insofar as politics goes, I find that very hard to do anymore. Some assholes have been permanently struck from what I’ll listen to, because their personal conduct is so damn irritating. Those who keep their mouth shut and aren’t always agitating can get still a pass, even if I know deep down they are pricks. But even some of them have rubbed me wrong the last few years, and have lost my grace.
I won’t listen to Rage or Green Day, and I turn the station with Bruce Springsteen comes on but that is because he is an awful singer as well as a liberal.
Springsteen? Yeah, fuck that guy, too. Sanctimonious asshole tries to pass himself as Mr.. Blue Collar, and his singing sucks. I’ll give him credit for one thing, he wrote Blinded By The Light. It took Manfred Mann, however, to make it a great song.
As far as green day and compliance with the machine, they can both go suck dick through a glory hole in the mens room of a vegan karaoke bar. I never listened to either of them, always thought they sucked. I’ve been properly vindicated on both accounts.
Let me also take a moment to issue a giant dick off and die to any band or member thereof who got into the whole forced vaxx mindset back a couple of years ago: Gene Simmons, you are a poseur and a piece of shit. Dee Snyder: apparently you are a giant pussy, because you ARE gonna take it, evermore. I’ll not bother recounting all who deserve a public beatdown, but you get the idea.
“[T]hey can both go suck dick through a glory hole in the mens room of a vegan karaoke bar.”
LOL. Would you please unpack that one for me? I’m ROTFLMAO and may have need of some assistance in getting up!
Kudos!
I don’t know that’s there’s anything to unpack, really. I just thought it sounded funny. I have a habit of stringing together non-sequiturs to enhance the humorous value of a line. And apparently it achieved it’s purpose. In any event, I’m glad it gave you a laugh, because we all need one.
Fascinated by the magic of your words, I looked up that ‘best flick’.
I got as far as the cast.
One intriguing contributor was a sëñôrītā luna miranda.
.
Portraits show she is quite homely and only somewhat addicted to carbohydrates compared to many of the latinx ‘raza’.
According to the press-release, this (‘stunning and brave’) (‘strong and independent’) young lady “…worked as a stripper to make ends meet…”.
I would say her tastes in wardrobe reflect an interest in keeping that career as an option in case the whole acting thing doesn’t work out.
.
All in all, her participation in that SoonToBeAMajorBlockBuster® is an extraordinary accomplishment by any measure.
Better than the movie that was supposed to win about some trannie Latin American gangster featuring a homely broad shouldered dude in a dress with fake boobs. He said naughty things about blacks and that movie ended up not winning because of it.
I was thinking Bruce Springstain too as far as insufferable musicians go. Seems I read a while ago old Brucie is having some health problems. I am guessing from the jabs. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus.
The person calling xirself Karla Sofía Gascón didn’t just say mean things about George Floyd. Xe also mocked Muslim treatment of women and suggested that the religion should be banned for violating Euro human rights conventions. Also said the Covid stuff should come with two spring rolls and “a cat that moves its hand”. (The cat is Japanese, KSG. But 5 points for effort.)
It’s a pity about xir tranny mental illness because frankly someone who talks shit about George Floyd, too many Muslims in Europe, and the China Flu, would probably be an amusing person to talk to.
What does 2g mean?
As I commented at Zman, I never suffered from celebrity worship and I’ve never wanted to be a celebrity myself. I don’t know if the fading celebrity worship is a real thing or just a trend among older Whites – people still pay insane amounts for concert tickets to hear people who can’t sing and watch 2Gs herk and jerk on stage. Idiot husbands still pay for idiot wives to take idiot daughters to watch the latest childless ‘celebrity’ moan about her ‘heartbreak.’
Celebrity worship has always been more a female thing – it was the women who adored various gladiators in ancient Rome. Perhaps they are beginning to understand these people despise them – or it could equally be that people are economically struggling and so don’t find the lavish displays of tasteless wealth to their liking. But then, people were struggling in the 1930s and still paid to watch ‘let’s pretend.’
I don’t think like most people, so I don’t pretend to understand them. But I think celebrity and ‘expert’ worship are going to be with us until womyn are smacked in the face, good and hard, by reality. That hasn’t happened yet.
It does tend to be women, you can watch the old videos of girls as Michael Jackson or Beatles appearances and they were out of control and hysterical. I have never gotten the whole celebrity adoration thing, I wouldn’t ask someone for their autograph for any reason, it just seems like groveling to me.
Yep. I ran a couple different meat depts that got some so-called celebrity traffic. I always talked to them just like I would anyone else. Turns out, it seems to offend some of them that they are not being fawned over. Not going to mention any names, but the initials of one such guy was Danny Glover. Another was (very nearly) nobody Phil Simms. A couple of very miserable, liberal men.
Lisa Kudrow on the other hand was very genuine and seemed to appreciate “the normal customer treatment”. I helped her with the protein part of several holiday meals. Very kind lady, but those makeup people are pretty dang good, and that’s all I’m going to say about that.
Later on in the comments I’ve mentioned a movie I was an extra in. It starred Keanu Reeves, Barbara Hershey and Peter Falk. I never saw Falk, but the first two couldn’t have been any more different. Keanu was great, friendly and nice, even ate lunch with the extras one day. Hershey was a complete diva.
I’ve heard only good about Reeves. He comes across like the kind of guy that is a good guy in real life.
Oh – and it just occurred to me because I just went to scan YT. People (again primarily women) tell their life stories to these total strangers who are monetizing their daily lives. Women send their kids gifts, write letters, and notify the whole world when they’ve had surgery or a grandchild ‘graduated’ from kindergarden! I am not ‘signed in’ to any channels nor do I comment on any of them. If I ever win the lottery there are one or two I might send some cash to, but the rest are just ordinary people making a living by discarding any pretense to privacy. How are they different from actors, when it comes down to it? They still rely on the attention of strangers to pay their bills.
I haven’t been to a theater in years. The movies that come out on my streaming feed are not interesting either. The best show on t.v. ( IMO ) is “The First 48”. As an aside, I have now missed the awards shows for 65 years in a row. Looking forward to missing them for years to come.
My wife dabbled a while in acting. Mostly got some extra work in a few bad films. Even at that level she said some of the people had such huge egos and really thought they would get somewhere in their “careers”.
Steve,

Pam Anderson!
.
Cottage Grove Oregon.
During set-ups (breaks during filming), we played Gin Rummy with Pam.
That woman is hilarious.
I could easily see her as a sister-in-law or neighbor.
I live in a town with a movie studio and when it first opened – I’m talking like 40 years ago – there was obviously a lot of buzz. I got a part as an extra in a movie, partly to see what it was like but mostly because I needed the money, meager as it was.
I was astonished to discover that people traveled from all over the state to try to get cast, and spent money to stay in hotels when they were, given that the pay would not have covered their costs. They all thought it would be their big break, of course, and I was also astonished at how cutthroat they could be.
One of the scenes I was in was a party, and I was to stand against a wall looking out at the room. There was this one little man, he seemed ancient to me at the time but was probably in his 50s, who was directed to face me, as if we were in conversation.
He was livid that his back would be to the camera, and so petty that he attempted to keep his head in front of my face at all times. Only problem for him was that I was an almost a full head taller than he was, so he was literally jumping to accomplish it.
It was actually quite funny but very pathetic…
I once read that the Red Hot Chili Peppers did a concert on a rooftop and the police cordoned of the area. People who came home from shopping couldnt get to their houses / appartments and a lot of food spoiled just so that those ahem guys could show off.
And the people were never re-imbursed. So, when I hear a star or group etc are doing something I always look to see how the lives of ordinary citizens are impacted. And to their opinions: Maybe they are good actors / musicians but they dont have any right to tell me how to vote or how to live my life (so-called “Climate change” I am looking at you – and no, I dont believe in you!)
The last Oscars I recall watching involved Silence of the Lambs. Try to make that one today.
Wouldnt mind seeing a movie, but can’t find anything that is worth watching. Between the constant agenda pushing from the producers/writers/actors, and the seemingly impossible task of developing a new storyline. Is there not anything original to be made. Remakes of remakes of remakes, some with a word for word dialog. If you aren’t impressed with animated features, or the latest incarnation of the marvel comics lineup, there isn’t much to choose from. When you do find something you want to see, it’s an even bet that you will be exposed to obnoxius behavior by the crowd. Apparently, you can’t go to a movie without talking loudly, yakking on your phone, or yelling at the screen.
