Up, Up And Away In My Beautiful Balloon

Witnesses describe what transpired before mass shooting in Baltimore City

Pretty standard for Baltimore, one dead and seven wounded. The location and lack of marksmanship alone mark this as a scholarly encounter.

At first this story seemed only mildly amusing but the second time I glanced at it I saw a delightful detail I missed the first time.

According to witnesses, the mass shooting started as an argument over a parking spot. It happened after a motorcycle group gathered to remember a member who died in a balloon launch, witnesses said. Then, according to witnesses, a fight broke out.

“One individual moved a cone and wanted his girlfriend or wife to park there. And that’s when it all started. It exploded,” said Chareese, a witness.

Wait, he died in a balloon launch shooting and the subsequent shooting was over a traffic cone?

How often will I get the chance to talk about a tragic balloon launch shooting, a celebration of life and a mass shooting triggered by a dispute over a parking space in the same post? We have very few balloon launch/parking cone shootings here at Dissident Thoughts in general, and that makes me sad.

It does reaffirm what I have said before that “celebrations of life” in the jogger community have some of the highest potential for an additional shooting to take place.

I want to know what happened at the deadly balloon launch. Did someone’s Glock accidentally fire, poking a hole in the canopy? Was the nog attempting a balloon-jacking, only to discover that it was a manual transmission? They can’t swim, ski or ride on two wheels very well, so it is no surprise that they can’t fly, either.

    Negroes. What can they do?

        Perhaps.

The indictment alleges that the following defendants, all residents of Syracuse, are members or associates of the 110 Gang:

Daquan Dowdell, a/k/a “Cannon,” age 27

        Anthony Hopper, a/k/a “A-Dog,” age 31

Javon Peterson, a/k/a “Blaze,” age 36

Davon Sullivan, a/k/a “Lil Squeeze,” age 23

Jamar Long, a/k/a “Spanky,” age 23

        Deshawnte Waller, age 41

Shaquille Breland, a/k/a “Shaq,” age 25

Reddell Smith, a/k/a “Renny,” age 33

Rashwan Wynn, a/k/a “Wormy,” age 42

        Qualik Vaughn, a/k/a “Q,” age 24

Terry Linen, a/k/a “Six,” age 26

Jason Lebron, a/k/a “Rilla,” age 26

Kemnorris Kinsey, a/k/a “Pep,” age 31

        Damani Prince, age 25

The gang uses intimidation, violence, threats of violence, robberies, assaults, murders and attempted murders to instill fear of the gang, and to protect and expand the gang’s operations.

The charges in the indictment are merely accusations. The defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

I think it was a RELEASE of a bunch of little balloons, like you’d give a child, not the launch of a hot air balloon that people can ride under. The original article’s writer seems to have used the wrong word is all.

This balloon-release business appears to be a jogger thing, based on a cursory web search. Who knew?

And I also wanted to know about the hot air balloon. How disappointing. ☹️

If it WAS a hot air balloon it would have been insured by Jake, from State Farm, the original one.

New Jake is a day-walker, but afraid of heights.

Since when do these scholars do memorial balloon launches? Candlelight vigils and roadside “shrines” comprised of stuffed animals and sheeeeit are pretty routine, but don’t think I’ve seen a balloon launch yet.

We did those a couple of times back I the 80’s when I was in grade school, before the do gooders started bitching about the balloons (and attached strings) harming wildlife – which I guess is a legit issue to raise – and then those stopped being a thing.

My favorite is when there’s a funeral for a recently departed breadcrumb (generally of the shot and killed variety), and some bro slow rolls by in his whip and opens fire on those congregated. That’s always good for a sarcastic chuckle.

Huh, we must have been typing at the same time. Didn’t see your comment when I started (I’m running at less than half speed today. Zero sleep last night. Anyhow …)

I was also told as a child that free-range balloons were dangerous to animals. Seem to recall a sob story about a baleen whale choking to death on a big old balloon. Caring about wildlife is such a white people thing.

      • Big Ruckus D

Yeah, I’m certainly not indifferent to causing unneeded harm to wildlife by any means, and we should strive to be good stewards of our wildlife. That said, I’m obviously no “save all the animals and be a vegan” type overbearing asshole, either.

Like I said though, mass ballon releases appear to have peaked in popularity in the 1980’s, or at least that’s my perception. Look up “Balloon Fest ’86” held in Cleveland on jootoob for the world record of 1.5 million balloons released at such an event. That’s a lot of litter (once they come down, anyway), no matter how you slice it. And we know how nogs love to litter, so it’s probably best that White people generally stopped doing that stuff.

I take the view now that these sort of things are just kind of stupid anyway, which is – presumably – why joggers have apparently taken up the habit.

It happened after a motorcycle group gathered to remember a member who died in a balloon launch,

Not release, not a shooting, a launch. An unexpected wind at lift off and power lines can get in the way. IDK what all hazards come with being without directional control, but that is how I read it. Why did they go to a parking lot for their balloon release?
    Ya read the Names,,Right??
I’m guessing that guy called Rilla is a Rilla big fella..

  4. Big Ruckus D

Ok, so it was a hot air balloon after all I misinterpreted it to have been a mass balloon release. My bad. How stupid do you have to be to launch a hot air balloon, without being in a wide open area free of overhead hazards? FFS.

Ain’t that the truth. Maybe two ChaKeeTas with the same paint job on their toenails or something? Hard to come up with anything less consequential than moving a traffic cone.

The CPUSA (D) should have had their glorious Nuremberg Shindig in Baltiless.
Or Detroit who played black fist knockout game and lost.
Maybe the glorious people’s republic of Austin or Houston?
Fun trivia the CPUSA (D) has been in power 12 of the last 16 years.
Red Diaper Wonder Twin II the historic Kamalalala will burn it all down the best?
    Si se puede!

This was pretty well inevitable. Trump was never the guy who really wanted to implement the right solutions. He said a few of the things we wanted to hear in his first run, which was so far outside the Overton window of the time that some of us found misplaced hope he might be different (from every other lying whore politician). It quickly became evident that there was no real distinction to be found to that end.

This time around he is moderating on the major issues, and watering down the message to draw in the fence sitters. He keeps making noises about wanting to be a unifier, but that isn’t possible, or even desirable as an outcome now. The existing divisions need to play out to their logical endpoint (that being unconstrained violence). Certain factions simply have to be eliminated or there can be no decent civilization.

Trump isn’t going to do that, much less even contemplate it, so his plan is a failure right out of the gate. At best, he buys an extension for the status quo, and that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Delaying the inevitable is an action of the weak and fearful. I understand why they do it, but they are just prolonging the suffering of living under a dysfunctional and failing system.
