In a week the undefeated Indiana Hoosiers football team will play Miami for the NCAA Division I championship.
Wait, what?
Indiana is a basketball school, Bobby Knight and all that. That they even bothered to field a football team only to get kicked in the teeth by Michigan, Ohio State and the rest of the Big Ten (except Purdue and Northwestern of course) almost seemed cruel.
Suddenly seemingly out of the blue Indiana has been steamrolling through the playoffs and has got to be the prohibitive favorite to beat Miami and secure the third straight national championship for the Big Ten after Michigan and Ohio State each won a title in the prior two seasons.
Living in Indiana, the only football that ever was mentioned involved the usually hapless Indianapolis Colts but Hoosier football fever is sweeping the state. The Hoosiers are led by a Heisman Trophy winning quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, and I just read at ESPN this stat that I had to look at a few times to make sure I was reading it correctly:
Through two playoff games, Mendoza, the presumptive No. 1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft, has more touchdown passes (8) than incompletions (5)
That is hard to fathom. Needless to say I have been paying slightly more attention to sports this season than my normal level which is close to zero.
I haven’t actually watched any games though and that was why I was reading the ESPN article. Then a different article caught my eye and is so often the case, down the rabbit hole I went. The headline: The 10 teams that have gotten off to the hottest portal starts
To people who grew up watching college football in the heyday, that headline makes no sense. It gets worse when you read the opening line:
College football’s offseason transfer window opened one week ago, and coaches across the country have only 6,200 Division I players in the portal to choose from at the moment.
Let’s say that there are 25,000 players in Division I and that number is a little hard to come by. That sentence means nearly one quarter of all players are in the transfer portal and looking to leave.
Indiana being the juggernaut this season already has a dozen commits via the portal, including a “Top 15” player in TCU quarterback Josh Hoover who started 31 games at TCU but then up and left to replace graduating Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza.
12 is nothing.
Oklahoma State has 33 commits. Over 1/3 are from powerhouse North Texas who are following their former UNT head coach Eric Morris who is now the head coach of Oklahoma State.
Penn State has 29 commits, almost half from Iowa State and they are also following their coach Matt Campbell who left ISU to take the head coaching job at Penn State.
Some of these schools are seeing a massive turnover on their roster. In 2024 Marshall ended up opting out of their scheduled bowl appearance because so many of their platers were entering the transfer portal. It is hard to play in a bowl game if you don’t have enough players to field a team.
One player I saw on the most coveted transfer players list was a running back named Justice Haynes who is leaving Michigan but he came to Michigan after transferring from Alabama so now he is looking for his third team in his college career after 2 years at ‘Bama and 1 at Michigan.
Recruiting used to mean college coaches scouting high school players who then joined a college program and unless something went really haywire, where you started your college career is where you finished it. Now you have to recruit players out of high school and then recruit players out of the transfer portal while at the same time trying to keep your own players from leaving. It isn’t as though college athletes are demanding prima donnas or anything. Piss a player off because you are disciplining him and likely as not he will just leave at the end of the season.
We aren’t far from the point when teams are completely reshuffled every year with the transfer portal period basically being like drafting your fantasy football team. Smaller, less prestigious programs will recruit players who are essentially displaying their talents to their future program making small programs almost like minor league teams for the big programs.
Certainly college football has always had a shady side. Schools like the University of Miami were notoriously ghetto and anyone that read Brian Bosworth’s biography knows a little about how players got away with a lot. We knew that most of those guys playing for your favorite college couldn’t spell cat and had no business being in college but damn, it was still fun.
And yet there was a pageantry about college football that didn’t translate to the more sterile, business focused NFL. People spent too much time and money watching college football, most of them never having attended their favorite school, but it was part of Americana.
That is gone now. Don’t get too attached to that exciting freshman quarterback that signed with your favorite team. If he is any good chances are he will bolt for a bigger program and more NIL money.
It is just one more aspect of a better country that has been ruined by Them.
I wonder what all the parole officers around the country have to say about such a large number of their clients relocating with such frequency.
I watched about two minutes of D1 blacksketball the other night while sleeplessly flipping through the channels. It looked like a pickup game at a crack cocaine rehab or more likely a medium security prison. More cornrows than southern Iowa. What a freak show.
Niggerball for the goyim. Keep watching that shit show while your country burns.
Boosters pour millions into this while the niggers fuck the White cheerleaders and co eds.
The mystery to me is why there are still people in the stands cheering for laundry. Once upon a time, the players represented your school and/or your state and that meant something. To somebody. But what is the meaning now? It can’t be pure love of the game, which is lower quality than it has been in many years (another subject). What do they think they’re cheering for?
I understand the gambling influence, and how that keeps eyeballs on the sport, and I’m sure that’s by design. But that’s a separate thing from spending hundreds/thousands of dollars on a weekend trip to College Town to see it in person. Sitting in cramped seating for hours, I might add. Fighting traffic. Paying through the nose for marked up for the weekend motel rooms. To cheer for a bunch of mercenaries who DGAS about you, your school, or your state?
It’s all they have. The gambling is a major driver. This is all part of the jewniggering of our culture. One big pajeet gas station scratch-off in the parking lot.
The younger generations are fully entrenched in the melting pot mercenary amerika while their boomer and genX parents are all death-gripping the faux trajectory of american material life that is gone baby gone.
They go to the games, worship the nigs because thats the only socially legitimate channel of quasi-masculine camaraderie that the gynocracy allows. They are fungible economic units at best and they all know it.
Meanwhile the younger guys have grown up idolizing niggercoin characters in the graphic novella they call life. It’s all fake and gay so who cares. Their team is the one that makes them money. Just like the nigs.
The whole 401k thing is now robinhood app day trading and shitcoin fapping while “working” their dead end jobs.
The american dream isn’t just busted-ass but its not even a believable trajectory anymore. All thats left is literal bread and circuses. A feed on their phones. Gambling, pron, get rich quick schemes, churn and burn mercenary side-hustles and life-hacks and crypto ponzis.
They see nothing wrong or incongruent that a bunch of hustling nigs and chadballers jumping on every shekel from uni to uni.
“College” is fake anyhow. Just a bunch of angry white biches chasing chadcok or niggercok while getting papered in feral female grievances. Loads of debt. Its all fake.
Making money is the only real thing left.
I know several very capable young men who are of right mind and are in no way pajama boys who work hard in regular trades but are also fully engaged in the apps. Gambling, “trading”, crypto, sportsball. The nigs don’t even have to dribble the ball in basketball anymore. The pretense of college “athletes” is totally gone and nobody noticed. Influencers are boxers and boxers are brand ambassadors and everyone just thumbs their phones looking for the next thing.
The kids know that unless they hit their trifecta they won’t have anything close to the material and cultural life their parents had. Thats a mindfuck that most older people just can’t grok. They are too busy propping up the facades so they don’t ever have to admit their part in all of this.
To cheer for a bunch of mercenaries who DGAS about you, your school, or your state?
And worse actually hate you and everything you stand for….
Word, my brother. I walked away from viewing sports a long time ago. When I lived in SoCal, you had the spectacle of all of the Mexicans at the Coliseum waving Mexican flags when their teams played against Americans. From the time I was in high school (1960s), it became a contest of: “Their negroes are better than our negroes.”
When I moved to North Idaho over ten years ago, the idolatry over all of the Watusis who played for those Marxist Jesuits at Gonzaga was most disconcerting. And it was not unusual to see one of them being shepherded around in COSTCO by some cute little white girl talking to him like he was an ignorant kid who didn’t know toothpaste from hair gel. Sports and sports figures in this corrupt, syphilitic-thinking country have been the opiate of the American masses for way too many years. TPTB and the real puppet masters behind the scenes discerned this long ago. They read Edward Bernays while everyone else was looking at the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Sad and pathetic. Bleib ubrig.
Well said!!
Saban’s lost prodigy saved the program. Mendoza will get drafted by the Raiders and turn it around?
They know football brings in the $heckels and basketball hasn’t won since Bob Knight and 1986.
I can’t imagine a less interesting thing than sportsball.
That it even exists underscores my general disappointment in humanity.
Yes, the deep seated need for distractive spectacle is a real failing of our species. The amount of time, attention and money it sucks up (to the detriment of society) is outrageous. I realize everyone needs leisure time, and hobbies. But being a sports ball addict is the lowest common denominator of leisure pursuits, along with mindless celebrity worship (which is more the purview of women, but men also fall into that trap). Porn also falls into that category, basically a zero/low effort activity to piss away time on BS that will not in anyway improve one’s life, and quite often will be to one’s detriment.
It’s also the reason society is screwed now, because too many people desire to concentrate on pointless distractions, than on matters of actual significance that are continually ruining their standard of living, while they choose to ignore it all. It is a part of human nature that really sucks.
The only hope I see is that the changes in the nature of the game, particularly the ever unstable rosters, and the mercenary nature of it all, may finally cause enough disillusionment to turn some people off. Kind of like the way streaming has largely ruined TV and movies for so many people, both as regards the cost due to fragmentation, and the poor quality of the content. But it is an obsession that dies hard. And now with legalized sports betting being so prevalent, yet another easily accessible addictive angle has been added to it, to suck people in further.
Yeah Brother its all a dopamine sink.
They’ve successfully moved the IRL commons into a curated online/app stream. “Dating”. Music. Books. Knowledge. Put it in an app. Better not take longer than 30 seconds to absorb.
Sports (entertainment) isn’t about hometown heroes wearing the right color stripes, but rather just another mercenary circus in which the nationless kids and slumbering normies can wager and wax.
Why make another Lawrence of Arabia when the addicts just want to binge it all faster than you can pump it out?
The kids don’t care about some nig switching teams. The kids don’t have a team, they have a habitual impulse to seek novelty.
Its all gambling now. Crypto. Trading. All fake and gay, but for the real money one might scrape out of the stinking pile of what once was. Get yours while you can. This is the system that most older people want to save, by the way, so the two realities will take up swords. There can be only one.
You certainly make an even bleaker case for the state of things than I have (congratulations are in order, it’s an accomplishment to outdo my black pilling these days) but I can’t really argue against your point of view. Probably the only hope is some exogenous event that destroys the Internet (massive EMP probably being the only realistic option, or a war of such magnitude that huge swathes of infrastructure are physically destroyed) so that we can divorce ourselves from the way we have become slaves to the tech and constant engagement that has provided to our obvious detriment.
Maybe Russia will get impatient with our bullshit, and scuttle the entirety of communication satellites in LEO via the Kessler Effect. That would make a hell of a big dent in the tech leviathan.
Ha! Well, the blackness is only in the absence of applied solutions. The tendency to whitewash the truth into prettier lies is to relieve ourselves of the responsibility of choosing the truth and accepting the consequences.
From smart phones in 10y/o girl hands to covid mask-n-jab to taking the economic ticket and rationalizing it there are a million tiny turns of the dial that has that flame under our melting pot getting hotter.
For every RealDissidentMan(TM) that bashes sportsball fans there is his wife on social media preening and consuming for *reasons*.
For every TruePatriot that knows post-enlightenment tyranny by democracy voat harder coping is a death trap there is a pay stub from an institution that hates him and wants to destroy his people.
I don’t know what the answer is, specifically, as the problem refracts beyond our ability to see the fullness of it, but I do know there is still a lot of low-hanging fruit to be had right in front of our eyes every day.
I’ve made tons of mistakes on my own journey through the empire of lies but the biggest one was believing that there is a ‘there, there’ when it comes to the sorts of abstractions and lofty appeals toward real life solutions to The Decline that Our Guys see so clearly but don’t actually exist anymore than those niggers playing sports are “College Students.”
And yet here we are in our own entertainments, indulging our own sort of dopamine chasing, spleen venting, and self-license to indulge in voyeurism, validation, and community by proxy because we too are living in shithole times and are far from immune to that same impulse to escape and relieve ourselves of the messy parts.
At least we got a taste of what was squandered, lost, spent, borrowed against, etc. The kids? Their pill is black because we are not offering them an alternative to that old broken trajectory. The demons, however, are already offering them multiple chutes to the kill house while the grownups argue over how to best keep the system intact.
Agree with BRD. You win this weeks’ coveted BLACK PILL AWARD for excellence in cynicism. The sad part is that your viewpoint is a realistic description of our society.
I ended up not watching sportsball anymore a long time ago because it really was a time and attention suck. I still enjoy it though if you can wade through the commercials and the bimbos asking coaches football questions when these chicks can’t even throw a ball.
When we had the Twin Towers (Mike Phillips and Rick Robey), Kentucky basketball home games were always sold out.
Us kids could get into UK football games for free after halftime. The only teams we ever beat were Vanderbilt and Miami of Ohio.
IU was the same way, basketball good, football embarrassing
It’s been a game of “your 2Gs are better than my 2Gs” for decades now. And few of the 2Gs are from the state or region, and most of them couldn’t spell their name much less perform actual college coursework.
College sports needs to be banned for the good of what’s left of Western civilization in this country.
The 2G aspiring af-leets can then go pick crops in place of the mestizos. At least that will provide some social benefit.
I get a big kick out of all the University of Georgia shenanigans. Must be tough wrangling all those negroes feeling that NIL cash and thinking they can handle a Hellcat.
Thanks to the internet we now can start to see what fucking animals these “athletes” really are
American sports are just various versions of niggerball.
To paraphrase Jeff Cooper, anything that involves a ball lacks the three essential components of a satisfactory sport: loud noises, fast projectiles, and recoil.
I couldn’t tell you the name of one player on our stat college football team. Rome only had on coliseum and look at all of them around the country. And with all the fast food joints we have lots of bread & circuses.
Gambling is also ruining the sport. Very sad.
There is a sign on the door of our local BW-3 advertising you can gamble on site. Gross.
