A Photo Finish!

It was close and I was sweating a bit but they did it! This final weekend of 2025 finally saw the mass shooting totals according to the leftist Gun Violence Archive break the 400 mark! Congratulations!

That sure seems like an awful lot of incidents of four or more people being shot in a single event, an average of more than one every day of the year, but we are almost certainly going to have the fewest mass shootings since 2018 when there were “only” 335. I doubt we will catch up to 2019 which saw 414 although anything is possible when the urban yoofs are involved.

Many on our side of the fence especially in the pro-2A community try to disregard these numbers, mostly by claiming that “gang related” mass shootings aren’t really mass shootings. I think that is counter-productive.

1. The vast majority of mass shootings, an overwhelming percentage, are committed by blacks and target blacks. I know of a few of the 400 that were carried out by Whites, mestizos or Asians but virtually all of the rest were committed by blacks.
2. Most of these are tied to some sort of ongoing beef, often being the result of the targets being involved in an earlier shooting.
3. Almost none of these mass shootings involved “assault rifles”. Virtually all of them are utilized handguns, especially the Glock with a ubiquitous “switch” to convert them to fully automatic. It has become so bad that Glock shut down producing their current generation pistols and went to a new, “Gen 6”, version that is supposed to be more difficult to modify to fire full auto.
4. A significant percentage, almost certainly a majority, of those involved in mass shootings already have one or more felony convictions and are legally prohibited from owning a firearm.

These are the mitigating facts that need to be emphasized. Trying to ignore the numbers or downplay them by eliminating the most common type of mass shooting that involves the Usual Suspects is in my opinion the wrong tactic. Instead of primarily worrying about why people are committing mass shootings, we ought to be asking who are committing these mass shootings.

Of note, while the Annunciation school shooting by a White transvestite named Robert Westman who called himself “Robin” gets most of the attention in 2025 because of the total shot (2 killed, both children, with more than two dozen injured), when you look at the next shootings in terms of body count you see that the shooting with the most fatalities occured in Leland, Mississippi with 7 killed and 12 injured. The shooters of course are black with names like Terrogernal S. Martin and Teviyon L. Powell (I talked about it here: Homicidal Homecoming). There are lots of shootings with more than a dozen total shot and a quick glance would indicate almost all of them are blacks or mestizos. I should sit down and do a study to be sure.

Also, the drop in mass shootings is more of a return to the norm and not because Trump is “tough on crime”, as we see by the lack of Tampon Tim Walz and Jacob Frey in handcuffs. The stretch from 2020 to 2023 where we saw over 600 mass shootings each year was the result of a years long chimp out coupled with cops backing off enforcement in the wake of George Floyd dying of heart failure. It was an aberration and already in 2024 before Trump took office we saw a major drop in mass shootings from 659 in 2023 to “only” 503 last year. This year was a return to the standard level but even still is higher than 2015-2018.

While I think 2026 promises to be a year of chaos, I would be surprised to see more than 450 mass shootings next year absent some sort of George Floyd level triggering event.

It is a sad state of affairs when more than 400 mass shootings in a year is considered an accomplishment.
