Teen killed, 8 wounded in shootings during ‘teen takeover’ in Loop after tree-lighting ceremony
The “teen takeover” thing is an obvious euphemism that means “black or mestizo teens going wild in large enough numbers that the police won’t do anything about it”. It isn’t new, back in the 80s they called it “wilding” and in one high profile case a White woman named Trisha Meili was attacked, raped and nearly died. Her accused attackers, a group of blacks nicknamed the Central Park Five, were convicted for the crime and later “exonerated” although some doubt remains. A story perhaps for a different day.
The teen killed was shot in a separate incident an hour after the main shooting where 7 yoofs were wounded. The police have a description of the suspected shooter and of course….
A preliminary description relayed on CPD radio by an officer who reviewed surveillance video said the shooter was a Black [sic] male about five feet eight inches tall wearing a tan Carhartt jacket, a white or gray sweater, black skinny pants, and white tennis shoes. He was last seen running east on Lake Street.
The Chicago Sun-Times for some reasons forgot to put the description in their story. Nor did the Chicago Tribune in their story. Weird. What the Sun-Times did mention was the police presence and how even that was inadequate…
Ald. Brian Hopkins (2nd) said in a social media post that hundreds of juveniles had been “rioting” in the Loop. He also said officers were “attacked and injured with mace and stun guns.” No officers were hospitalized, officials said.
Word of a “teen takeover” had circulated on social media earlier in the week ahead of the tree-lighting that drew an estimated 20,000 attendees. Officials at Chicago Public Schools had sent messages to families urging teens to stay away from the spectacle without supervision.
The city deployed 700 additional police officers for the festivities along with community violence intervention workers, “but clearly what we put in place did not do enough to prevent what we were concerned about from actually manifesting,” Johnson said.
An additional 700 cops were not enough even though they knew the “teen takeover” was planned. I am sure the messages to keep the yoofs away “without supervision” had a major impact on attendance. The problem you see, according to Hizzoner “Let’s Go” Brandon Johnson, is not enough “safe spaces” for yutes…
Allies of Johnson, who vetoed a snap curfew measure that passed the City Council over the summer, instead have pushed to create more jobs and recreational opportunities as outlets for young people on the South and West sides of the city, where resources are scant.
“I’m the first person to recognize that we have more work to do in this city to provide safe spaces for our young people. But these types of violent gatherings can never be an alternative, nor can they be normalized,” Johnson said. “There’s always more we as adults can do to make sure that we know where our kids are and what they are doing.”
That is always what we hear, what is needed are more midnight basketball leagues or jobs as McDonalds. What everyone with a functioning brain knows, a category excluding Mayor Johnson, is that these teens don’t want “safe spaces”, the promise of mayhem and violence is what draws them in the first place.

At least four people were injured in a shooting that took place during a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in North Carolina….
…Four gunshot wound victims were sent to the hospital, with three in critical condition. Among the victims were two suspected shooters, per police.
The CPD said in a later update that the shooting took place between two suspects “known to each other.” Police added that it “was not a random act of violence directed at the public.”….
….The CPD identified 18-year-old Nasir Bostic as one of the suspected shooters. He was one of the four gunshot wound victims, and he remains in critical condition.…
….A third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Bostic, was charged with accessory after the fact and inciting a riot. He was not injured in the shooting and was apprehended shortly after the incident took place.
