I have been struggling with some sort of nasty cold for the last few days. No fever but lots of congestion leading to lots of coughing and that delightful throat tickle that wakes me up on and off all night so you never quite sleep soundly. The run down feeling has been keeping me away from the computer so I apologize for the mediocre poasting.
This winter I have been sicker than in recent memory. Nothing serious, just annoying coughs and runny noses. Normally I am pretty immune thanks to endless exposure to snotty nosed little Amish kids and if I started feeling run down I would just hammer the vitamins and that would mitigate the illness. This year that hasn’t worked and lots of Amish have been really sick, lasting for weeks on end.
I have no idea what that might be a sign of, probably nothing at all. I can sleep in tomorrow maybe (that normally means up at 7 instead of 5:15), so hopefully that will help. Maybe I am just getting older and less able to shrug off sickness.
I am definitely looking forward to spring, although we are heading into a week or more of temperatures bouncing around. It is supposed to be a high of 54 today but then a high of only 31 tomorrow, with that pattern repeating all of next week. Still the days are getting longer and the temps are creeping up so that means spring is not far away.
There is definitely something going around, nation-wide, near as I can tell. I work remotely and deal with people from all around the country, and so many of them have pulled up lame at some point, recently. My only complaint is a chronic case of Dindu Flu that’s been plaguing me since Kaepernick started kneeling for the anthem.
We had our ‘winter’ down here in South Tejas. It occurred on a Tuesday in early February, between 2 and 4 am. The current extended forecast calls for low-to-mid 80s throughout, which sure sounds sweet. But come July/August when it’s 106 and humid, I’ll be singing a different tune.
I wondered if it was more widely spread, it has been unpleasant for sure.
Wu Flu Number two!
Electromagnetic radiation. 5G rollout coincided with Coof (to include Wuhan city). 5G comes in 3 bands, low, medium and high. Low rolled out first. I suspect they’ve been rolling out the high band the last 6 months or so. For a deep dive (not just 5G, goes back to telegraph and earlier) see “Invisible Rainbow” by Arthur Firstenberg, citations throughout. Those symptoms match EHS. 5G incidentally was rolled out without health testing, rubber stamped by FCC and Congressional law forbidding any locality to prohibit it’s installation.
Hell I won’t rule anything out after the last decade
Negative health effects of electromagnetism are well documented by multiple studies globally over more than 100 years. Radar, satellites, wifi and now cellular signals are just the latest and probably the worst offenders. Right now avoidance and minimization seem to be the only things an individual can do and that is difficult.
I, too, am rarely sick and can shake it off fairly quickly, when I am. But had something that hung on for nearly 10 days, and sounded much the same as yours.
My sister in New England said her PA was calling it the ‘100-day cough’ because it apparently really persists in some people.
One has to wonder if it’s the worst in the COVID-vaxxed. That would be my guess….
I think it’s worse for those who got the Moderna and Pfizer mRna shots. I think those really damaged immune systems. But I also think that what’s going around might have been “engineered,” if you get my drift. Not exactly a bio weapon, but I think it’s possible that Covid might have spawned some new strains.
I am completely un-“vaxxed” but I wonder if the “vaxx” is messing with the normal flu and cold bugs.
Lotsa quercetin, zinc, vitamin d, vitamin c, magnesium, boron and turmeric at our house. Our area-a bit south and west of your area, Arthur-we’ve been hit with pretty wild temperature swings the past couple of weeks which always make for respiratory infections in livestock and people. Not that anyone with abilities to influence or magnify weather would do something like that on purpose. No DOJ raid on SDNY yet. That fact alone makes one feel sick.
Prophylaxis is king. I do zinc and Quercetin (Solgar makes a good capsule), magnesium, CoQ10, B-complex, Vitamins K2+D3, Iron, fish oil, all of these 2X weekly, Vitamin C 3X weekly in addition to daily multivitamins. Remember an apple a day keeps the doctor away? It’s based in fact, as red skinned apples are a good source of Quercetin; I eat 1 each day other than days I already dose with Quercetin.
Very, very rare upper respiratory illness, important for me as an asthmatic.
Hammer down Zicam tabs as soon as you feel the onset, this actually works (thanks to the zinc component).
I do the quercetin, zinc, vitamin C pretty hard.
Ivermectin helps, at least it did for me knocked it down right away…
I need to get stocked up on that
They’ve been bug-spraying the shit out of the whole country lately. We’ve had one full day of sun and a few “cloud-free” mornings in the last month or so, even when it was -30°.
Today it’s a constant 20+ mph wind with gusts to 50, and temps have dropped from 42° at midnight down to 27° now. Hope it calms down a bit before it hita the cheeseheads, trolls and Amish to the southeast…
Mn-what about the pavement trolls in “Charm City”(minnehopeless? must they be spared:>
The Twin Shitties and surrounding suburbs are filled with people that make a living off of NGOs and other nonsense.
At least they did, and now “lake camps” are going to plummet in price and new side-by-sides are going to flood the used market.
They deserve all they get, weather is the least of their worries.
The wind was crazy here today, it was blowing me all over the road. It is delightful to be fighting the wind every second you are driving.
Miraculously, I’ve avoided getting a cold this winter (so far anyway). Oast couple of days I’ve had just a touch of sinus congestion and some minor drainage, but no cough or other symptoms. I suspect it is mostly irritation from a job site I spent a few hours at (the customer smoked heavily and had multiple cats, so the house was loaded with potential respiratory irritants) and will clear out in another day or two. Took some Benadryl last night before bed to knock the edge off of it. I’ve been dosing with D, quercetin, zinc and so forth all winter, so that probably made a difference in my not falling I’ll, as usually I get nailed with a cold in December or January.
It’s never been too awful but just annoying enough to make me feel run down.
Hope you get well soon. I’ve read about people having long-lasting coughs, but we’ve been blessedly illness-free up here. My husband didn’t even get sick on his last business trip. We, too, take Quercetin, Zinc, Magnesium, vit D, etc. My husband has a whole pharmacoepia. We need to lose weight and get back to exercising (no excuses except laziness, no space for home workouts, and closest gym is up in town) but I haven’t been sick in literally years – since before covid.
This has been an outlier but the Amish will NOT keep their kids home, not even if they have a sucking chest wound.
If you can manage to obtain some, codeine acts as a cough suppressant as well as pain relief.
If the cough is keeping you awake at night and interfering with your job etc. it might be worth tracking some down or seeing your doctor for a prescription
Codeine and other heavy duty meds make me have visions and shit when I sleep, when I had my wisdom teeth out one night of the painkillers was plenty. I just sucked it up after that,
It’s going around here in Australia at the moment too. I thought it was a change of seasons thing (1st day of autumn here today), as it’s a bit like hayfever. Best cure is a quick surf – the salt water flushes the sinuses and you feel much better in moments.
They have been spraying the skies on the daily here in TN. Every morning I go outside and see blue skies with criss-crossed chem trails. By noon the sky is fully covered. Now that it’s warmed up, I’m getting back out there in the field and woods and have had much more congestion, stuffy nose and cough than normal. Don’t know exactly what they’re spraying us with, but it’s not vitamins.
Get better.
