This is a delightful tweet:
Gee Wally, why won’t Amazon deliver to those two neighborhoods in D.C. when they deliver everywhere else in our nation’s capital? I wonder what the demographics of those two zip codes looks like and what the crime statistics are? I also wonder why the Attorney General of D.C. is seemingly unconcerned with the safety of low wage Amazon delivery drivers who are at risk when delivering packages in those areas?
The replies are scorching him for focusing on Amazon allegedly overcharging people for a voluntary service they sign up for instead of on the actual crime in that area that has led to Amazon refusing to deliver to those zip codes. If D.C. Attorney General Brian Schwalb was more enthusiastic about prosecuting criminals, maybe those neighborhoods would be less dangerous and Amazon would deliver there? Not to mention the fact that Amazon Prime is already available at a 50% discount for people on food stamps or Medicaid.
I wonder what percentage of Amazon Prime customers in those zip codes are on government assistance and already getting Prime for half of what you would pay?
Oh, I figured this was the case based on the name but looked anyway.
Well of course. The Every Single Time stereotype exists for a reason.
One reason crime is out of control is that leftist prosecutors, attorneys general and police departments are more concerned with phantom “racism” than they are with actual crime. It can only be intentional. Brian Schwalb went to Duke and Harvard law so at a minimum he is reasonably intelligent and at the very least clever. He knows damn well why Amazon won’t deliver in those neighborhoods. It is the same reason he lives in the Chevy Chase neighborhood as far from those zip codes as he can get without leaving the District….
The 20015 zip code that covers most of Chevy Chase where Brian Schwalb lives has a median household income of over $235,000. The two zip codes that Amazon won’t deliver to, 20019 and 20020, have median household incomes of $48,000 and $53,000 respectively. That isn’t too terrible but D.C. is incredibly expensive so those are basically poverty level incomes in D.C. while they would be middle class where I live.
Like most leftists, Brian Schwalb has enough money to insulate himself from the consequences of the policies he pushes. I do take some consolation in the fact that when the wheels come off, the feral residents of the 20019-20020 zip codes are going to head across the Anacostia River at the first opportunity and come knocking on doors in Chevy Chase.
See, D.C.? This is why Amazon can’t deliver nice things.
“Hello, this is the Amazon complaint hotline. Press ‘1’ for ebonics, ‘2’ para espanol, ‘3’ to speak to the manager.”
This brought back nostalgia for me.
That area you are talking about is Anacostia. The un-highlighted part at the bottom is basically park land and Bolling AFB.
I spent years installing cable TV all around that area, as well as (later on) phone systems. Anacostia is the hood. It’s where they have their MLK blvd. That said, if you took a line from the north peak DC, and went straight south, everything to the east (basically east of North Capitol street) is a place you probably don’t want to be when it gets dark.
Sure, Anacostia is the hood, but the city itself is over 80% black. The mighty whiteys live in the NW, as you pointed out.
I’m sure as a longtime resident, Schwalb knows this. His heart bleeds for them, but I bet he never finds his fat ass anywhere east of where he is.
When my brother got married, his wife (a lib new yorker) lived in DC and taught the indigenous population in Anacostia. If memory serves, they lived around Capitol hill somewhere. It didn’t last. His car was stolen 2-3 times, they’d be sitting in the apartment (a basement one) and the natives would peer in the windows.

Ahh… face shows black.
Even the monkeys have Patrick Ewing jerseys and have you seen the Amazon drivers?
Comrade kommissar Bezos is CPUSA (D) so I don’t do business with commies.
Fourth world mud turd FUSA will have to burn down before it gets any better?
After Trump served some fries at McDonald’s, McD’s got hit with an E Coli outbreak. After Bezos warmed up to Trump, this happens to Amazon. Coincidence?
Chipotle had a series of food poisoning outbreaks in 2015 after the owners declined to get involved in politics (treacherously electing to stay neutral officially, even though they were almost certainly shitlibs privately). I’m sure this was also a total coincidence. 🙄
I knew there was something about that whole Chipolte thing. Never got wind of anything, though, until now. No pun intended. Not to be the “well, actually…” guy, but I spent alot of years in retail meat, and went to a mess of food safety courses/seminars and took a mess of tests. The human body consumes food borne pathogens-trace fecal matter and other gut bacteria-all day every day. Our bodies dispatch most of it easily enough, and that is why the elderly and the very young, and the “immuno-suppressed” are most vulnerable. The amount of e coli, or salmonella or listeria one has to consume in order to get a food borne illness is “more than usual trace amounts”. There is no question to anyone that understands food, food safety, sanitation and sterilization protocols that the vast majority of food borne illness outbreaks of consequence have to be some form of corporate or gray terror. Especially knowing all the checks that food companies have-and extra especially the big boys. One theory is that most significant recalls are fedgov going in and “allocating” massive chunks of inventories/production for their own stores (COG you know). Or as we see in Chipotle’s case, payback. The food industry is populated with the same sorts of gangster operatives as the CDC, HHS, FBI, CIA, the medical community, big pharma-which is to say rabid, sociopathic communists and/or opportunists. Nobody that isn’t publicly traded or doesn’t have an operative or two on the payroll will never get a fair shake.
People still eat at Mickey-D’s (McDonald’s)???
Scary, id’nit?
Art, you do great work.
Everything’s closing in.
I’m guessing that the UPS drivers and postal carriers aren’t getting hazard pay for working those zip codes.
Ahh Amazon I happened to have an unfortunate experience with them recently and I only called them with great reluctance. I still have the problem I called them about after two hours of speaking with them. When I saw it had been two hours wasted I said “you don’t want my business that badly” and ended the call.
Yup, he should be forced to move down and live with those innocent victims.
