Paradise Lost

I didn’t live in 1950s or even the 1960s. When I was old enough to be somewhat aware of the world around me it was during the disastrous Carter administration in the late 1970s, a period marked by inflation, malaise and the humiliation of the Iran hostage crisis and fatally executed failed rescue attempt. I do have/had many family members including parents and grandparents that lived in those decades. Were they perfect? Of course not, any society made up of people will be imperfect as people by their nature are imperfect. There was poverty, crime, domestic violence and all of the various societal ills. It was simply far less common than today.

It is overstated but it was mostly true that a working class man could buy a home, have a wife that stayed home and raise a family on a working class salary. Did women work outside the home? Sure but it wasn’t until the mid 1960s that the workforce participation of women exceeded 40%.

Source: https://www.bls.gov/cps/demographics/women-labor-force.htm

Notice also the precipitous decline of men in the workforce. By 2024 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 68% of men were in the workforce compared to 1948 when the percentage was 86.6%. With current trends it won’t be long until the percentage of women in the workforce surpasses that of men.

In those years after the Second World War, the U.S. was overwhelmingly White with nearly 90% of the population being the heritage race and the 10-12% that were black being relegated mostly to the South.

The “Not-So-Great” Migration of blacks out of the South and into cities in the Northeast, Midwest and West was underway but most cities outside of the South were still mainly black-free and even where blacks were found in significant numbers they were still kept mostly under control by cops not afraid of using the truncheon.

Was it perfect, was it paradise?

Obviously not but was it as close to paradise for the average person as has ever existed in human history?

I would argue that it was. A young man with a high school diploma could get a decent paying job, marry reasonably young, raise a family, buy a home and live what would by most measures be a pretty nice life. If that isn’t a worthwhile goal, what is? This seems like a good time to share this quote from G.K. Chesterton….

For all of the praise of “capitalism” and all of the normiecon screeching about “socialism”, no one ever seems to ask “What works for the best for the most people?” and we will be revisiting this topic again. Believe that.

America was sitting on top of the world. Virtually untouched from World War II while Europe, Japan, China, Russia, among others, were devastated. Average people were buying homes and cars, appliances and even taking modest vacations. Young married couples were humping like crazy leading to the “Baby Boomer” generation. America was the world’s manufacturing powerhouse and those manufacturing jobs were a major reason why young couples could buy a single family home on one income.

That wouldn’t last long.

If the 1950s were best characterized as a time of contentment, the 1960s were a time of deep discontent. It is common to link this to the war in Vietnam that kicked off in earnest for America with the bogus Gulf of Tonkin incident in 1964 and then in 1965 when American ground forces entered the theater. By the time the war ended, over 58,000 young American men had been killed in a war we lost. The psychological damage from that war took decades to overcome. Vietnam was certainly a factor but there was more going on.

As American ground forces were being deployed in Vietnam, back home the dreadfully misnamed “Great Migration” wasn’t going very well at all. Race riots erupted in cities across the country, from Harlem to Watts in Los Angeles where 34 people were killed. In 1967 during the “Long, hot summer”, some 150 race riots broke out across the country with the worst being in Detroit with dozens more killed and Newark with another 26 killed.

There are interesting parallels between the 1960s race riots and the various race riots in the modern era.

In the case of the Watts riot, a drunk black man named Marquette Frye was pulled over. The cops tried to arrest him and of course Marquette began fighting the cops and then his mama Rena jumped in. Marquette got a baton to the face but the black community was fed a false rumor that a pregnant black woman had been kicked leading to the riots. With 34 dead, over 1000 injured, thousands arrested and $400 million in damage caused (in 2025 dollars), it was a disaster for Los Angeles. According to Wikipedia, the good boy that dindu nuffin, Marquette Frye, was later arrested 34 times in 10 years following the riots. Nice guy.

A commission looking into the riots, The McCone Commission, determined that the “cause” of the rioting was:

….high unemployment, poor schools and related inferior living conditions that were endured by black residents in Watts. Recommendations for addressing these problems included “emergency literacy and preschool programs, improved police-community ties, increased low-income housing, more job-training projects, upgraded health-care services, more efficient public transportation, and many more.

That all sounds familiar. The problem isn’t that blacks chimp out, usually over a false narrative, but that we haven’t given them enough free stuff. This was in 1965 so we have the benefit of seeing 60 years of money pissed away trying to get blacks to behave, trillions of dollars spent in vain. The Harlem riots kicked off when cops shot a 15 year old black who lunged at them with a knife. Of course black “witnesses” claimed there was no knife but the same basic people claimed Michael Brown’s hands were up which was proven false, although that did nothing to stop the “hands up, don’t shoot” nonsense.

Not only was there widespread race rioting going on but there was also enormous pressure to rewrite the nation’s social contract. The process started in earnest with FDR’s “New Deal” but goes back further. Lincoln and the North deciding that Southern states that had voluntarily voted to join the United States could not be allowed to voluntarily vote to leave, thereby changing irreparably the relationship between the states and the Federal government which has led to the states becoming junior to the Feds more with each passing decades in direct opposition to how the system was designed.

Where this change to the social contract was centered was the administration of Lyndon B. Johnson who proposed a “Great Society” program to address “inequality” and improve “civil rights”. Make no mistake, LBJ didn’t give a crap about “civil rights” and is reported to have disparaged blacks for being easy to manipulate, suggesting that passing the civil rights and welfare bills would “have the niggers voting for us for 200 years”.

During LBJs administration, a number of laws were passed from the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 to the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965. Other bills included the Food Stamp Act of 1964 that created the permanent system of “food stamps” now known as “SNAP”, the Elementary and Secondary Education Act in 1965 that drastically increased the Federal role in local education, and the Social Security Amendments of 1965 that created Medicare and Medicaid, two programs that eat up an enormous amount of the Federal budget.

Try to wrap your head around this. Most of my readers were either not born yet or children but from 1964 to 1965 the Federal government….

  • Opened mass immigration from anywhere in the world
  • Began the Federalizing of public education
  • Created the food stamp system that now provides salty snacks, pop and candy to the “poor”
  • Provided the enormous expenditures for medical care for the elderly and “poor”, which has had the direct result of drastically increasing the cost of health care for everyone.
  • Involved the Federal government is trying to combat “inequality” and poverty, an effort that has mostly managed to create a permanently dependent underclass that is most prominent in the black community.

The size and scope of the Federal government has ballooned since LBJ started his “Great Society” program and the cost has been incredible. I asked Grok for the amount spent during the “War On Poverty”….

Estimates on total spending for the War on Poverty since President Lyndon Johnson’s initiative began in 1964 vary, with figures often adjusted for inflation or specific program scopes. Based on available data, spending on anti-poverty programs, including means-tested welfare and related initiatives, ranges from $15 trillion to over $27 trillion in constant dollars up to recent years.

  • A 2014 report from the Heritage Foundation cites $22 trillion spent through 2014, adjusted to 2012 dollars.
  • A 2019 Cato Institute article estimates over $23 trillion since 1965, not specifying the inflation adjustment year.
  • A 2022 Texas Policy Foundation source claims about $25 trillion, adjusted for inflation, through 2022.
  • A recent X post from May 2025 references $27.8 trillion spent on welfare since 1965, though this lacks detailed sourcing.

These figures typically include programs like Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance, and other means-tested benefits but may exclude Social Security and Medicare unless specified. Exact totals depend on the time frame, programs counted, and inflation adjustments. Without a unified federal accounting, estimates remain debated, and no single figure is definitive. For the most precise data, further analysis of federal budget records would be needed.

You want “reparations”? You already got them and wasted every penny.

Something else to point out. It is popular across the political spectrum but especially among /ourside/ to crap on the Baby Boomers for squandering their inheritance. There is some truth to that but keep this in mind. The oldest Baby Boomers were born in 1946. Prior to the ratification of the 26th Amendment in 1971 the voting age in America was 21. That means the oldest Boomers were not eligible to vote until 1967 and by 1967 the “Great Society” laws had mostly already been passed, including the poisonous Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 that paved the way for the “Great Replacement”. It wasn’t the Boomers who were voting for Lyndon Johnson or for Philip Hart and Emanuel Celler, the eponymous Senators that authored what is commonly known as the “Hart–Celler Act”. Boomers didn’t vote in the 76 Senators and 320 Representatives in the Senate and House of Representatives respectively that voted for the act. No, that was the work of the “Silent Generation” and the so-called “Greatest Generation”. Boomers deserve some blame but it was the people who “won” the Second World War that betrayed their posterity by throwing open the floodgates to the third world to move into America.

Circling back to the original point. America was a mostly racially homogeneous, high trust society where most people could afford a basic “middle class” lifestyle. Kids played on the streets and came home in time for dinner. Whites lived in the cities they built. The key to a middle class lifestyle was a willingness to work hard at your job. Was it great for blacks? Maybe not but is it better to use a separate water fountain if that means not having thousands of blacks shooting each other every year?

Today young Whites are not getting married and are having fewer than replacement levels of children. Even when they do get married and have kids, both parents typically work leaving children in daycare or public schools (but I repeat myself). Our cities have largely been emptied of middle class Whites, turning the cities over to blacks at first but now blacks are being pushed out by mestizos. We don’t make anything and most people earn a living in meaningless service industry jobs. Not surprising, people are freaking miserable and to call them pessimistic about the future is laughably understated.

How did we go from a near paradise to where we are today?

For some bizarre reason, the glorious life most Americans were living in the 1950s seemed to make those same people incredibly discontent. Why would people living in the best society for the greatest number of people be discontent with that? I would suggest that some of that is in the European mindset that thrives under adversity and challenge and without that challenge finds life without meaning. After all Whites are the people who explored the globe and our natural curiosity and intelligence has led to nearly every significant discovery in science, engineering, medicine and so on in the last 500 years.

That doesn’t fully explain it.

What drives people to be discontent is outside forces telling them they shouldn’t be content. The missing link as I see it is the change to the culture, a culture that was aimed at the youth telling them that the wonderful world won for them by others was actually bad, that it was oppressive. They were urged to “Turn on, tune in, drop out” by the same people extolling the virtues of smoking marijuana and using LSD and acid.

Again, while the Vietnam War gets most of the attention, I think the underlying cultural rot has more to tell us about the seeming sudden shift as an idyllic nation for most people suddenly went sideways with blacks rioting in our cities, crime from those same blacks driving White to the suburbs, young people getting stoned and worse and a general malaise over the entire nation that we still are experiencing today.

The key to understanding this is to recognize that the “sudden” shift from the 1950s America to the 1960s America didn’t happen organically. It goes back at least to pre-World War II when what has become known as “The Frankfurt School” formed, seeking to accelerate the spread of global Marxism by the destruction of the existing social fabric. This is one of the very best introductions to the topic from the deeply missed Vertigo Politix….

If the video gets taken down, as Vertigo Politix videos often are on Youtube, you can watch it here on Rumble.

What the Marxists like Antonio Gramsci discovered was that the “workers” weren’t really all that interested in Marxism so what was needed was to undermine and destroy the foundations of society, causing a collapse that would leave people seeking any solution as preferable to chaos.

Does this sound familiar? Why are Soros-supported DAs and judges letting violent criminals out of jail over and over again to commit more crimes, especially as they are “liberals” and the non-White criminals being released are mostly victimizing non-Whites? Because the chaos is a feature, not a bug. Their plan is to cause a widespread systemic collapse and then of course people will embrace Marxism to “fix” it.

The rot was planted early on as part of the “Long March Through The Institutions”. It isn’t a coincidence that college campuses were hotbeds of leftist radicalism as the professor class was thoroughly perverted long before. What we are seeing today in public education and organized religion’s leftward lurch was in the works decades ago. Credit where due, They have been playing the long game and for most of that time the vast majority of Americans had no idea.

The possible flaw in that plan is that there is no guarantee people will embrace Marxism and may instead embrace a different form of authoritarianism. People are already starting to unconsciously pick sides, see The Incredible Shrinking Center, although as I said they don’t realize it. As you know They tried this plan before in Weimar Germany and it didn’t end up well for a bunch of them.

Americans were in an unprecedented place, as close to an ideal society as has existed in modern times, and it was intentionally sabotaged by people who wanted to destroy that society so They could rule over the ruins.

I am very happy that you “went there.”

I was reading the first part of the article thinking (((JEWS))) in my head.

    It wasn’t blacks who:

Opened mass immigration from anywhere in the world

Began the Federalizing of public education

Created the food stamp system that now provides salty snacks, pop and candy to the “poor”

Provided the enormous expenditures for medical care for the elderly and “poor”, which has had the direct result of drastically increasing the cost of health care for everyone.

Involved the Federal government is trying to combat “inequality” and poverty, an effort that has mostly managed to create a permanently dependent underclass that is most prominent in the black community.

    Etc. Etc….

The NAACP was know by blacks as being run by Jews.

The drug use, the criminality of blacks, the rampant promiscuity, the glorification of violence by blacks, if not rooted in Jewish activity, is certainly egged on and approved by them. The Media and Music industry that creates and encourages this attitude is a Jewish industry. I don’t recall Nat King Cole, or Gladys Knight and the Pips singing about fucking hoes and shooting cops.

It was Jews that brought the blacks to America. It is Jews that brought them main stream, and it is Jews who prevent them from being encouraged to act like civilized people and to take their proper part in society. It was Jews who set up the immigration schemes, who exported factory jobs overseas, and who encourage the racism and discontent of blacks.

It is also Jews who promote pornography, who removed christian prayer from schools, who engage in warfare against christian values in the culture, who have taken over and dumbed down the education system, who ahve financialied the economy for their usurious benefit, and who have AIPAC monitors on almost every congressman, while being the main funder of elections, all the while hiding that fact from normies via their control of media.

Heck, it was even a Jew who forced McDonalds to fry their fries in seed oils rather than beef tallow. How much we gonna have to take from these people? Anything from Murdering God in the Flesh to fucking up french fries. I guess there is no limit, huh?

The traitorous prick and war criminal Winston Churchill remarked some time about the 1920’s or so that “eventually we will have to submit to either the zionists or the communists”.

    Both groups are joos, obviously.

Unless We The People of North America and Europe are willing to go balls out to assure that hymie kikensteinberg does not get his way (the enslavement and destruction of Whites) We The People will be snuffed out like a candle.

And as you were careful to outline, Arthur, the destruction of The West has been a carefully choreographed, meticulously planned event.

We are literally in the fight of our lives and most folks have no idea. Zero.

You left out all of the Germans, Japanese, and others who high tailed it to this country between 1946 & 1951. My mom got a job from one of the cosmetic companies after WW2 and faced a lot of discrimination because she was an American white woman and therefore not as sophisticated and worldly as “the Europeans”. THIS, to a woman who had worked for the OSS in WW2. The US Military bombed the proverbial shit out of Japan, yet soldiers brought home Japanese wives by the thousands. The US Government has been held hostage since WW1-the whole point of getting that SOB Wilson elected. Americans didn’t support going to war with Germany, in fact a lot of folks liked Hitler. But there was money to be made and American bodies to stack and foolish blather to repeat, so off to war this country went. Beware of foreign influence, I believe Washington said.

Things are pretty bad, and they are going to get worse before they get better. Even giving Trump every possible bit of credit I can, he’s nothing more than a speed bump in the globalists’ path. The massive number of nonwhites, the immense dumbing down of Whites, and the undermining of family and faith is too much for one man or even a few terms to overcome. No, Boomers aren’t to blame for LBJs legislation, but they are guilty of being self absorbed and self indulgent. They are not stupid, however, and were far better educated than any subsequent generation, before standards were dumbed down to the lowest common denominator in the racial stew of AINO. The next 10-15 years are going to present a pretty stark contrast. Folks think there’s a ‘crisis of competency’ now . . . just wait. I was fortunate to be ‘Generation Jones,’ i.e. a later Boomer. I remember the ’60s – the beginning, the sense of order and civility and peace, as well as the end. The black riots, the integrated schools, the drug culture. No, it wasn’t all happenstance and accident. The degradation and ruination were planned and carried out over decades. And most Whites haven’t the slightest clue who’s responsible and why.

Cheeto jesus and i share the same birth year; we have nothing else in common except our skin color. Paradise: a childhood in a rural SW Oregon community with no niggers in sight for years to come, and beaners only passing through with the fruit harvests. Faggots hid in the closets, if they came out they … well it wasn’t pleasant for them. But as a child, I knew nothing about any of that- only that we could play in the streets and wander around safely, no worries. As my WW2 vet father remarked while I played cribbage with him watching the degenerates parade their junk at some parade in Portland, in front of children…. “if I would have known what this country was coming to, I don’t think I would have signed up”…

The Purge also comes to mind.

Dont forget that this is the fifth anniversary of Fentanyl Floyd overdosing, oops I mean getting killed by a waysiss cop. Expect a weekend of riots and mayhem with al the cucked whites ‘ taking a knee’ We’re being pestered about this over here in the UK too, apparently dead niggers are an international issue now!

Well written article good sir ! Its interesting how historical events tie together, and always seemingly with a common thread. How odd that, every single time. Keep the Faith. Deo Vindice.

Thank you, Arthur, for setting the record straight (or at least, straighter) on the boomer’s culpability in all this mess. As a very late boomer, myself, the first national election I was able to vote in was 1980. I was barely aware of anything in the 60s, and as a small child in 1969 I certainly wasn’t blowing joints with Jimi at Woodstock.

It irks me no end to hear every other generational cohort shit on us boomers for our ‘selfishness’ and our allegedly universal liberal viewpoint. I’ve never been greedy or selfish in the sense of deliberately denying anything to successive generations. I don’t take six cruises a year and couldn’t afford to, even if I was that self-indulgent. In fact, I don’t know of a soul among my circle of fellow boomers who fit that profile so commonly attributed to us. And once I hit my late teens and started supporting myself, any pretense to liberalism went straight out the window, despite growing up in one of the bluest states in the union.

Tarring all boomers with the same brush is just the envy of successive generations that, unfortunately, were not afforded the admittedly wonderful spectrum of benefits that boomers fell into, through no fault of their own. Those of us who entered the workforce during the Reagan years and kept their noses to the grindstone have earned not only generous company pensions (remember those?) but fat 401(k) fortunes and frankly astronomical gains on any home, however modest, purchased in the 80s and 90s. We did not do anything that anyone from Gen X/Y/Z would not have done under similar circumstances.

Are there 60- and 70-something geezers out there who laugh at younger folks, sneering “Ok, renter” while spending their childrens’ inheritance and defending troon madness, men in women’s sports and the rest of the left’s Marxist agenda? I honestly would not know. I am not acquainted with any such people, nor would I wish to be. For all I know, that selfish, greedy, inconsiderate boomer trope could be just another Alinsky tactic designed to manufacture outrage and sow division between the generations. If so, it appears to have been wildly successful.

    • JerseyJeffersonian

Yes, the exacerbation of generational divisions IS one of the main weapons in the arsenal of the Jacobins/leftists. It goes hand in glove with their tactic of dissolution of the family, and the abandonment of the value that accrues to a civilization and its people through its history and traditions by substituting for these the arrant nonsense of the “blank slate” instead.

    • J J

Ditto to the praise for recognizing that many of the boomers like myself (born 1958) had nothing to do with creating all of the social programs and the problems that arose from them. As a southern kid, we knew that generally whites didn’t mix with blacks. My worst year of elementary school was the year Louisiana moved black teachers into white schools and I had the only black teacher in the school. She was a disaster. I got in trouble for mimicking how she talked. Geez, who thought having a black teacher trying to teach English to white kids who were mostly more intelligent was going to work?

Most of we educated Americans can identify some of the facts regarding the Russian Revolution & Bolshevism. What we mostly fail to do is ask exactly who were these “Bolsheviks?”

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote the huge two-volume tome, “Russia and the Jews: 200 Years Together,” and who knew more about these origins than he?

Roughly 80% of Bolsheviks were jews. Solzhenitsyn was careful in his approach. Look at this famous quote, wherein he dances between the raindrops:

“You must understand, the leading Bolsheviks who took over Russia were not Russians. They hated Russians. They hated Christians. Driven by ethnic hatred they tortured and slaughtered millions of Russians without a shred of human remorse. It cannot be overstated. Bolshevism committed the greatest human slaughter of all time. The fact that most of the world is ignorant and uncaring about this enormous crime is proof that the global media is in the hands of the perpetrators.”

Ask again who were the perpetrators of the Frankfurt School, who is in charge of the World Bank, The City of London (not the actual city but the entity within the city that is run by jooooz–and that requires their permission to enter–even by the Royal Family), the Rothschild organization and it’s counterpart here, Goldman-Sachs?

Which sub-group represented >80% of Biden’s cabinet, and a goodly mix in Trump’s second?
le a race apart, they believe themselves to be The Chosen People, they do not self-identify as “White” and they are up to their small hats in guilt–guilt that they reject–for most of the havoc described above by our host, AS.

“Unlimited power in the hands of limited people always leads to cruelty.” AS [Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn].

When you peruse the following, know that a dichotomy exists wherein even the Solzhenitsyn Center has whitewashed the notion that Solzhenitsyn ever blamed jews for the atrocity of the Bolshevik slaughter, so great is the power of “those who shall not be named.”

      • TakeAHardLook

I must amend my above comment. I have seen no instance of jewish guilt–ever–under any circumstance, up to and including the latest (((ignored genocide))) occurring in the ME as we speak.

Seeing as how OK Boomer is for the most part Millenially driven, I suspect they are going to receive similar (if not harsher) medicine on the back end

“they were still kept mostly under control by cops not afraid of using the truncheon.”

Are you nuts? Former cop in a city where “there is no there there”, never used truncheons. It would be inhumane…we used Kel-lights….
