While it is true that in almost every respect blacks have very little capacity for creativity, thus their inability to write epic fantasy which relegates them to being race-swapped into characters written by and for Whites like the recent Helen of Troy fiasco, Idris Alba as the Norse god Heimdall in the Thor movies, a black guy named Steve Toussaint playing Lord Corlys Velaryon in House of the Dragon, on and on and on, there is one place that blacks exhibit a level of creativity that J.R.R. Tolkien would envy:

Making excuses for black criminal behavior.

It is really uncanny, they are drooling idiots most of the time but when one (or a bunch of them) does something criminal? They can make an excuse for even the worst behavior. Sometimes they excuse future behavior coupled with a threat, often accompanied by “No Justice, No Peace”. Case in point from the anti-2nd Amendment leftist rag The Trace

More Than 4 Million Americans Have Lost Access to SNAP Benefits. Experts Predict That a Higher Rate of Shootings Will Follow.

Let’s first ask, or in ghetto parlance axs, the question: who exactly are these “experts” that predict this?

The two “experts” that I see cited are Dr. Sharven Taghavi a “a trauma surgeon and researcher at Tulane University”….

…and Dr. Randi Smith, also a trauma surgeon and researcher.

Inclusive excellence! Dr. Smith has argued that not only should trauma patients, in other words gun shot victims, be given free medical care via Medicaid but their recovery program should also include (presumably free) “medically tailored meals and nutrition counseling” that will add even more cost to the enormous expense of treating gun shot victims: Trauma Recovery Can Be Supported by “Food as Medicine” Interventions. This is what passes for “medical research” in the 2020s.

Anyway, two whole “experts” that the author of the piece, one Fairriona Magee, claims support her claim that the Bad Orange Man requiring people able to work to actually show up to work in order to get free food is going to lead to blacks shooting each other at even higher rates than normal.

Her argument relies on some pretty flimsy arguments, like this one from Dok-tah Smith, emphasis mine:

“When I looked at some of the social drivers of health that led people to be injured in the first place, or that impacted their recovery, I always kept coming back to food,” said Smith, who co-authored an op-ed earlier this year in the Bulletin of the American College of Surgeons suggesting that food assistance be included in trauma recovery. “The root cause of food insecurity is probably the same root cause of gunshot wounds, which is having limited access and disinvestment in the basic needs of certain communities.”

It is probably the same. Well that settles it!

Dr. Smith is apparently unaware of, or unconcerned with, the old saying that correlation does not imply causation.

It is likely very true that the communities that see the most “gun violence” are also communities with high levels of “food insecurity” which really means “lots of people using food stamps”. What she is missing here, and intentionally I suspect, is the real common factor.

Which racial group in America has the highest SNAP utilization? We don’t have to guess, these numbers are readily accessible.

Key National Percentages (Households Receiving SNAP):

• Black or African American alone: ~24.9%
• American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) alone: ~23.1%
• Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander (NHPI) alone: ~20.2%
• Hispanic or Latino (any race): ~18.5%
• Asian alone: ~8.5%
• White alone, not Hispanic: ~7.85% (or ~8–9% for White alone overall, depending on exact grouping)

No shock here, Whites and Asians have very low rates of SNAP usage, while blacks are the very highest at around one quarter of black households receiving SNAP.

We also know without a shred of doubt that violent crime rates follow this same general pattern, with Whites and Asians having dramatically lower per capita rates of violent crime, mestizos having higher rates than Whites and Asians but significantly lower than blacks who have traditionally held the crown for the highest rates of per capita violent crime.

The question is not where do we find the highest rates of poverty, SNAP usage and also violent crime but whether these are linked (higher violent crime is the result of poverty, as is so often claimed) or whether these two are both symptoms of a deeper root cause. Fortunately we don’t have to guess or rely on two “experts” making statements like “probably the same”.

Allow me to once again reference the lefties at the Gun Violence Archive, a bunch of asshats to be sure but they are considered a reliable source by most of the media so instead of “debunking them” I simply co-opt and appropriate their data, turning it around and using it against their agenda. Let’s look at the “big picture” of gun violence for the last decade.

As my readers are well aware, from 2020 to 2023 the U.S. saw an unprecedented spike in mass shootings, a little over 2,600 in just four years or an average of 650 mass shootings per year. No year before and no year since that period has seen those kind of numbers. What is more, my research by digging a little deeper into the numbers showed that at least in 2025 mass shootings remain a mostly black on black thing where at least 64% of mass shootings with 10 or more shot were committed by blacks: 2025: The Year In Mass Shootings.

It wasn’t just mass shootings, regular murder was also way up in during those years. By every metric I could find, 2020 to 2023 was one of the most murderous periods in American history outside of the Civil War.

What else was happening in 2020-2023?

We were also throwing money into the food stamp program in record amounts. SNAP spending in the U.S. went up dramatically starting in 2020 with a record amount being spent on SNAP and then really going up starting in 2021.

Prior to 2021 SNAP spending had never exceed $80 billion but in 2021 it shot up (pun intended) to $113, followed by $119 billion in 2022 before dropping back to $113 billion again in 2023. This was the result of what was called the SNAP Emergency Allotment where most recipients received the maximum allotment based on family size regardless of their income. For example below is the chart for my state of Indiana…..

In a family of 6, the most you can make is $4,675 gross monthly and you can receive a maximum of $1,421 in food stamp benefits per month but the closer you are to the maximum, the less you get. In other words someone with a monthly gross income of $4,500 might get $150 in SNAP benefits while someone making half of that could get closer to the max of $1,421. According to Grok the average Indiana household receives just over $400 per month.

What happened during Covid is that every household got the max regardless of income, so if you were a family of five with a gross monthly income five bucks below the threshold you got the maximum allotment. That helps to explain why the total of SNAP spending went through the roof. This was ended in February of 2023.

Weirdly enough, after the SNAP Emergency Allotments ended part way through 2023, the following year saw not a massive increase in gun violence as we would expect based on the super in-depth research by Fairriona Magee and instead we saw a major drop-off with gun deaths dropping from over 21,000 in 2021 to 16,725 in 2024. That is the precise opposite of what you would expect based on Ms. Magee’s investigative journalism.

Admittedly I am not a statistician or terribly good at math but if I am reading this correctly, it looks like the years when we saw unprecedented spending on SNAP also saw unprecedented levels of “gun violence” in general and mass shootings in particular.

“Gun violence” was not reduced when SNAP spending went up and in fact in the following years gun violence” went down at the same time SNAP spending was being reined in.

I spend an inordinate and probably unhealthy amount of time and effort examining gun violence in America, especially mass shootings, and one glaring fact sticks out: gun violence in America is mostly a problem in the black community. Based on my research I can also say that the blacks committing most of the “gun violence” in America are motivated by a number of factors and the availability of SNAP benefits is not anywhere on the list.

This is real information and the conclusion we can draw from that is that Fairriona Magee and her two whole “experts” don’t know what the hell they are talking about. Dr. Randi Smith and Dr. Sharven Taghavi might (or might not) be great trauma surgeons but that clearly doesn’t translate to being reliable when it comes to pronouncements on public policy. Instead it seems that the data we have to work with looking at both significant changes in SNAP spending and record levels of gun violence in fact show the opposite of what they claim will happen as a result of the recently passed “Big Beautiful Bill”.

I would suggest that Fairriona Magee, Dr. Smith and Dr. Taghavi might want to reevaluate their argument that reducing SNAP benefits will lead to an increase in gun violence and instead look elsewhere but that would assume their concern is actually in reducing gun violence instead of simply expanding the welfare state.
