1 dead, 6 injured in homecoming shooting at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania
Like me you probably have never heard of Lincoln University and this is why:
Lincoln University (LU) is a public state-related historically black university (HBCU) near Oxford, Pennsylvania, United States. Founded as the private Ashmun Institute in 1854, it has been a public institution since 1972. Lincoln is also recognized as the first college-degree-granting HBCU in the country.
It has less than 2,000 “students” but as we all know, if you have more than zero blacks the odds of a mass shooting go up dramatically. From the story, emphasis mine:
One person is dead and at least six others were injured in a shooting during a homecoming celebration at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, Saturday night, the Chester County district attorney announced.
District Attorney Christopher de Barrena-Sarobe said one person, who had a gun, has since been detained.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the International Cultural Center (ICC) building just before 9:30 p.m., where a post-football game celebratory tailgate and Yardfest event was being held, Lincoln University police chief Marc Partee said during a press conference Sunday morning.
“This was to be a joyous occasion,” Partee said. “Homecoming — when individuals come back, and they give back to their alma mater, and they live the good memories of their time at Lincoln University, which has helped them propel into life. This was interrupted by gunfire that should not have occurred.”
How delightful that the shooting happened in the parking lot of the “International Cultural Center”, what better way to showcase black culture than with another senseless mass shooting!
The school was founded by a do-gooder Presbyterian minister named John Miller Dickey and originally named after a man named Jehudi Ashmun (pictured below) who championed the movement to repatriate freed blacks back to Africa via the American Colonization Society that founded Liberia. It sounds like he was a sincere man who wanted to see slaves freed and returned to Africa but he died at the young age of 34 in 1828. Perhaps if he had survived and helped with the repatriation of slaves we wouldn’t have the descendants of those slaves gunning each other down by the thousands every year.

yes, that’s right, the free state of Liberia founded by ex-slaves from the US, back when it was a functioning nation was caught selling slaves less than 100 years ago.

Just to polish my bona fides as a dyed-in-the-wool raycist, I would love to see (honest) alumni giving rates at HBCUs compared to that of any majority-White institution, before the woke era. Blacks won’t even tip their own for service in a restaurant, no matter how hard they make a sista sweat. And on those rare occasions that a wealthy black does do something altruistic (exclusively for “their people”, natch) there is invariably a media circus organized to broadcast it.
My gut feeling is that no HBCU has anything like a Yale- or Harvard-sized endowment, and without a ridiculous amount of goobermint subsidy through student loans and outright grants, the vast majority of HBCUs would soon wither and die. “Black philanthropy” is one of those fundamental oxymorons pairing two notions that have literally no relation to one another.
I bet Rex Kramer…Danger Seeker, would have something to say about this.
We need to start calling these events “homeycomings” to denote that they are distinct in nature from “homecomings” held by White people.
