For most of human history, war meant one side invading the territory of another country. That typically resulted in Bad Times for the people living in the occupied lands. One only need look to what happened to Germany in the waning months of World War II and in the aftermath. As the Red Army marched through Eastern Europe and into Germany, they raped their way through the lands. After the war was over, Germany was partitioned into a Communist East and “free” West but less well known is that the “good guys” put German soldiers into giant open air concentration camps leading to the deaths of millions of Germans in inhumane conditions, more in the post-war era than during the war itself ….
Simply put, kings and presidents and tyrants declare war but it is the people that suffer.
That is how it works but there is a huge, glaring exception to this: the United States of America. Depending on how you view 9/11, during the last century while the U.S. has been at war pretty much non-stop during that time there have really only been two instances of enemy attacks on U.S. soil, one being the attack on Pearl Harbor which while U.S. soil is some 2,500 miles by air from San Diego, about the same as San Diego to Boston. The other attack, if you can call it that, was 9/11 and even if you accept the standard narrative that still leaves you with Al Qaeda, a stateless actor, carrying out a terror attack rather than a traditional act of war. The one time we were attacked and “occupied” was in June of 1942 when Japanese forces occupied two of the Aleutian Islands, Attu and Kiska, in an attempted diversion from their attack on Midway.
Attu is around 2,700 miles from Seattle, and both islands are much closer to the Kamchatka Peninsula than they are to the U.S. mainland. At this time Alaska wasn’t even a state so I am not sure that this even counts at all, even as relatively insignificant as it was. I doubt you could find 1 in 1,000 people off the street that even knew about the attack on the Aleutians, I mostly know about it because I have done some research on the battle of Midway and it comes up.
Fun fact, when we finally got around to liberating these islands almost a year later, while Attu was liberated in what sounds like a very fierce battle with over 500 U.S. casualties and over 2,300 Japs killed including the commander Colonel Yasuyo Yamasaki who was killed in action leading his men in a banzai charge, the subsequent liberation of Kiska was too late as the Japs had already left but over 300 Americans died anyway, “with many dying due to accidental fire”.
You get the point I assume. America has gone to war a lot during the last 100 years but in general America herself has not been at war. While Europe, the Soviet Union and much of Asia was devastated by World War II, the U.S. was practically speaking untouched. To put it another way, the American homeland has not been impacted by the decisions of America’s leaders. While many Americans have lost loved ones in war, virtually all of our war dead died “over there”, in Europe or North Africa or the Pacific, in Vietnam and Korea, in Afghanistan and Iraq and Somalia.
That is all very interesting but so what?
Trump is making noise about the U.S. getting directly involved in the Israeli war of aggression against Iran. Whether that means that we just decide to jump in because the neocons have captured the White House again or we are suckered into it by means of chicanery remains to be seen. For a very long time we have been warned about “Islamist sleeper cells” in America. If we attack Iran directly, will these alleged sleeper cells be activated? I suspect they don’t really exist but I guess we will find out. It is something a lot of /ourguys/ talk about, there was a whole book slapped together after October 7th by Kurt Schlichter titled “The Attack” that is premised on a giant attack in the American homeland by Islamist terrorists. If these Muslim “sleeper cells” really are here, what will it take to trigger them? Decades of killing Muslims in Afghanistan and Iraq and then our support for Israeli genocide in Gaza didn’t seem to do it but maybe an open war with Iran would do the trick. I doubt they are really here, in the nearly two dozen years since 9/11 we have had very little domestic terrorism in America, unless you count blacks shooting up our cities and burning their own neighborhoods as terrorism.
War has become something abstract for Americans unless you have a loved one killed overseas. For most of us it doesn’t directly impact us and you can see this in the bloodthirsty calls for war from normiecons who spend Sunday singing praises of the Prince of Peace and the rest of the week taking sides in a fight between two groups of unbelievers. That would change if terror hit the heartland.
I am not wishing for that of course, what I would wish for is the two sides in the Middle East to wipe each other out and Trump keeping us out of it. As is so often the case, many dimwits cannot hold two ideas in tension. Just because I don’t support Israel it doesn’t mean I support Iran. I grew up during the Iran hostage crisis and I cheered when Sgt Slaughter beat up the Iron Sheik. I have no affection for the Iranian people in general and especially not for Islam. That doesn’t mean I want to get into a war with them, especially as they are not really a threat to the U.S. other than the regional threat that is directly tied to our endless meddling in the region and our unquestioning support of Israel.
There is a lot that might happen if we start lobbing missiles into Iran and none of it is good for us but the worst case scenario is that those “sleeper cells” really do exist and they are activated. I’ve asked the question before, think of where you live and how easy it would be to identify a large gathering of people. A lone crazed Islamist gunman could wreak havoc but a small, coordinated team? Recall that ten Muslim extremists killed 130 people in Paris, France in November of 2015 using a combination of suicide bombers and armed gunmen. In a nation the size of the U.S. with the wide availability of arms, it wouldn’t seem that hard to coordinate a much larger attack simultaneously in New York, Chicago, L.A. and elsewhere that could kill thousands. That it hasn’t happened raises questions, I am sure it isn’t because the FBI has foiled these attacks as they mostly seem focused on entrapping autistic Whites.
This is just something to keep in mind. I wouldn’t put it past the Feds to let “sleeper cells”, assuming they exist, to run roughshod in order to discredit Trump. The FBI and the rest of the Federal bureaucracy hates Trump and has openly worked against him in the past, so why wouldn’t they allow a few thousand Americans to die? They did in September of 2001.
Don’t become obsessed with scrolling through twitter and fretting about goat humpers behind every bush but something is in the works and it won’t be good for us if it happens. Awareness is your best friend right now.

Hormuz isn’t as vital as it used to be. About 20% of global supply. Less than 1% of AINO’s oil comes through there, but a whole lot of China’s does. The price would rise, but AINO’s physical supply would not be threatened. China would be crippled. Perhaps the PTB are hoping for this, with plans to mitigate the price rise domestically (they do control the money printer after all). Of course, it would be over China’s dead body that Hormuz would be closed to all traffic, since that’s what China would be without that oil. Possibly the Iranians could hope to selectively let through tankers bound for China but not others, but I don’t know how doable that is in the face of GAE/Israeli air strikes and naval interdiction.

It is true – and a little suspicious – that there have been no major Islamic attacks (or attempts at same) made here since 9/11. Given some of the theories bandied about concerning who really planned and executed that job, it causes one to wonder if the real threat of terrorism is grossly overstated. On statistical evidence over the past 25 years now, I’d have to say it probably has been. But, there is always that possibility present, and more so still if there are events taking place ingernstionally that agitate certain countries who have people present in the US, whether legally or not. Finding out the hard way is not on my bingo card for this year.
