Animism is a very old, “primitive” religious system that posits all things (animate and inanimate) having a “spirit” of some sort. Trees and rocks have a spiritual essence just as humans do. It is generally found in less developed societies especially among the “indigenous” populations in places like Africa.
I am not here to knock animism, any religious system can sound pretty silly if you think about it. The reason I bring it up was something that came across my feed on twitter the other day…..

There is a reason we have been subjected to a decades long non-stop barrage of “NAZIS BAD” propaganda in film and TV. Remember this scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark?

Raiders was one of the earliest examples of the cartoonish, over the top, NAZIS BAD caricatures in mass media. Now Nazi is the Very Worst Thing In The World so calling your political opponent a Nazi is the deus ex machina move, the unstoppable move. No matter how badly you are losing an argument, you just whip out the “NAZI!” card and you win.
I know the “liberalism is a religious system” thing has been done to death but it is critical to understanding their mindset, especially the utter futility of trying to argue or reason with them. Their religion is a form of animism coupled with some Genesis like speaking things into existence. If I say a man wearing panties is a woman, then the man magically becomes a woman. It isn’t Creatio ex nihilo because the man already exists but the basic principle is the same.
Something amusing that the Left doesn’t seem to grasp and this might be part of why they can’t meme, is that when you ascribe a mystical power to an object or word, it takes on a life of it’s own. No one cares about the flag of fascist Italy under Mussolini. Most Americans just shrug at the Japanese rising sun flag even though that same flag was flown by the vicious Japanese Imperial Army and Navy that we fought in the Pacific in World War II. The flag of the Soviet Union is still waved around by dipshit upper class Marxist wannabes despite the Soviet Union murdering far more people than the Third Reich. But a swastika? That has enormous power.
The same is true with the word nigger. Nigger was commonly used in casual conversation when I was a kid, through the 1980s in our small town, but already the use of nigger to describe blacks was rapidly becoming seen as a social faux pas, something only low class Whites said. Put another way, nigger was rapidly going extinct as a slur. What kept it alive ironically enough was the adoption of nigger as a term of address among blacks, especially in rap music. Then as we entered the Michael Brown/Gentle Giant/Hands Up, Don’t Shoot era and then the George Floyd Summer of Love, nigger started to make a real come back because liberals started talking about it as “The N-Word” in hushed tones as if saying it too loudly might make David Duke appear.
Nigger became a sacred word, like Voldemort and Jews refusing to say the name of God and using the Tetragrammaton YHWH or יהוה or something (I don’t really get it and I don’t care). It is a magical word of power, a modern equivalent of the old Dungeons & Dragons 9th level spell Power Word: Kill in that hearing the word nigger spoken in your presence is sufficient justification for a black to kill a White person.
It doesn’t make much sense, in fact it makes the swastika and the word nigger edgy. That doesn’t matter to these lunatics as they have a religious conviction that rivals that of any jihadist about the rightness of their faith even if they don’t understand that their faith is just that.
What is really amusing about this is that these are the same people who claim they are the smart ones, the “science believers”, the “free thinkers”, and yet their belief system resembles a primitive animistic religion more than a sober, objective worldview.
Just as you probably are wasting your time having a theological discussion with an African witchdoctor, you are likewise wasting your time trying to have a rational discussion with a modern leftist. Your point about the Raider’s swastika being erased by ‘god’ is pretty good. Any religious christian who has any depth of understanding of his religion would know how foolish that scene was.
After all, if ‘god’ is so offended by a swastika, then why exactly does he not smite the nazis? For some, that question means that there is no ‘god.’ for others, they know that is not how ‘god’ works.
But to suggest that ‘god’ is offended by a swastika to the point of burning it off a crate, but not offended by the ideology that it represents (or of any ideology, or wickedness, or sin) such that he gives it a pass, is just immature posturing. In Japan it’s called the “manji” and used on maps to denote religious centers (temple, church, whatever) the way we use a cross for the same purpose. The word swastika comes from the Sanskrit svastika, which means “good fortune” or “well-being.” The motif (a hooked cross) appears to have first been used in Eurasia, as early as 7,000 years ago, perhaps representing the movement of the sun through the sky. To this day, it is a sacred symbol in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Odinism. It is a common sight on temples or houses in India or Indonesia. Swastikas also have an ancient history in Europe, appearing on artifacts from pre-Christian European cultures. But……..nobody actually knows HISTORY. It is all about the history of NOW. These same idiots will tell you that we were founded as a “democracy”, that the Civil War was fought over blacks, and the 2nd amendment is about hunting. Ignorant people cannot be educated unless they want to be intelligent.
