Mexican nationals arrested while transporting 180,000 rounds of ammunition from Utah to Colorado

That seems perfectly innocent.
Two Mexican nationals in the U.S. on nonimmigrant visas were arrested during a traffic stop in Colorado last month while transporting 180,000 rounds of ammunition, authorities said Wednesday.
Caesar Ramon Martinez Solis, 41, and Humberto Ivan Amador Gavira, 24, both of Mexico, were pulled over in Canon City on March 26, the U.S. Attorney’s Office – District of Colorado said in a news release.
Two Fremont County detectives had spotted a white Chevrolet van passing them without dimming its headlights, in violation of state law, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by the Canon City Daily Record. The detectives said the van also failed to signal when turning into a gas station and had a defective license plate lamp.
During the traffic stop, the detectives discovered approximately 150 boxes of .308 ammunition and approximately 30 boxes of 7.62 ammunition, officials said. Each box was labeled as containing 1,000 rounds.
According to Solis….
Martinez Solis told authorities that he and Amador Garcia, whom he claimed was his brother-in-law, had traveled from Mexico to Denver a day earlier to purchase a vehicle before driving to Salt Lake City to look at another vehicle he was interested in buying.
In Salt Lake City, the men stopped at a firearms and ammunition store, where Amador Garcia bought the ammunition, according to the affidavit.
I often stop at gun stores and occasionally on a whim buy some ammunition. However I have never stopped and picked up 180,000 rounds. The whole thing stinks to high heaven.
As I have admitted, math isn’t my strong suit but I do know ammo prices and you are looking at around $.60/round at a bare minimum for new, brass case full metal jacket .308 ammo. Name-brand new brass at places like SGAmmo is closer to $.75/round but even at $.60 per round times 180,000 rounds is over one hundred grand. Where did a couple of Pedros get a hundred grand to buy .308 ammo? How did they pay for it as your credit card issuer won’t approve a $100,000 transaction. Cash? Checks? You don’t walk into a strange gun store, order up 180,000 rounds of ammo outof the clear blue sky and write a personal check from the Banco El Meheeco. Maybe the ATF could take a break from arresting/murdering law abiding Americans for a second to track down where this ammo came from and how these two obtained so much? Plus .308 is a pretty common all around hunting round but even hardcore hunters aren’t getting 180,000 rounds. Many AR-10s use .308 but it still isn’t nearly as common a round as 5.56/.223 for AR-15s.
Not to mention that 180,000 rounds of .308 ammo is heavy, I am guessing around 30 pounds per 1,000 round case. 180 cases of 1,000 rounds each times 30 pounds equals 5,400 pounds or more than 2 1/2 tons. In another report I read that they were driving a 2017 GMC passenger van, the seats were obviously out but that is pretty easy to do in those vans as I have a similar van. My van is the big one so it is rated as a one ton capacity but if you put 2 1/2 tons in it, the ass end would be damn near dragging the ground which likely also caused some suspicion from the police.
These guys cross into the country on March 25th, 2025, just happen to buy a cargo van heavy duty enough to haul 180,000 rounds of ammo going from Denver to Salt Lake City then back to Pueblo, Colorado, a journey of over 1,100 miles? I don’t know for sure but I assume it is easier to get 180,000 rounds of ammo in SLC than it is in Denver or maybe they bought it direct from a manufacturer as I don’t know many small local gun stores that would have that much .308 ammo in stock and those stores would have either told these guys to take a hike or called the ATF. It seems unlikely that they just happened to stop in at a gun store in Salt Lake City and decide to fill a passenger van without the rows of passenger seats with 2 1/2 tons of ammo.
What were they doing with the ammo? Was it bound for Mexico, that would be the best case scenario, or was it being cached somewhere in the U.S. for nefarious reasons? How many less dumb Mexicans are buying up firearms and ammo and caching them in locations around the U.S. for use later on?
I keep telling people, while mestizos are less overtly violent than blacks, they are also considerably smarter. A low bar to be sure but they do possess the ability to plan ahead. The .308 round is a rifle round so it isn’t likely to be used by gangbangers in drive-by shootings. If they had a van full of 9mm it would make more obvious sense but .308? That is really concerning.
Remember Trump’s threat to classify the narco-gangs of Central America as terrorist outfits and talk of bombing them? Wonder why that never happened? Perhaps the Feds are aware that such an action would lead to retaliation from those narco-gangs and think about what a dozen guys who are decent shots with AR-10s and stacks of magazines could do to a crowd.
Sobering thoughts indeed and yet another reminder that you don’t have enough ammunition.
Damn…I guess trying to get a refund is out of the question.
The poor van, the shocks must be ruined
keep in mind the cockroach effect … this is one
did you see the story of the NM judge ? at the range ?

I can only afford to buy a thousand or two at a time. I dream of cleaning out govt warehouses when it goes sideways, lol
Or maybe find some Mexicans with a storage unit
Let me be clear. 180,000 rounds is really not that much ammo. JK. Haha, that’s a pretty good stash.
Michael Yon, Matt Bracken and a few other folks have been talking about bunches of the illegals from the last decade or two arming up and turning against America in a violent, armed 5th column type of action.
Sounds like someone knows someone with a minigun. Just a SWA guess.
5th column action on the heels of antifa attacks?
I would like to count my ammo in the hundreds of thousands of rounds instead of thousands of rounds.
.308 is the same as 7.62x51mm. Links are cheap. You can buy in bulk.
You can currently get 2000 links for $120 on APEX Gun Parts Dot Com.
That’s a 2000 round belt for a M240. A couple of 240s can fuck up a crowd -really- quickly. Any bets that there’s more than a few belt fed weapons stashed in the shipping containers Bracken always references?
I still think there is some validity to the idea that the Las Vegas shooting involved belt fed weapons rather than some lone dude with bump stocks.
Arthur, that Las Vegas Bump Stock Massacre smelled bad right from the outset. Unless a person has fired one at a gun range they cannot know how false were the FBI’s assertions from day one.
The alleged shooter was firing down-angle by at least 45º to 50º (do the math: 32nd floor) and a bump stock (being a reciprocal-action physical device) tends to lose its cadence at any angle not approaching the horizontal!
We tried some demos at a range and, after we regulars could not get it to do much of anything approaching “perpetually reciprocal” I quipped that it ought to have been named the “Laughing Stock.”
So, a year or so later, when the feds made such a hoopla about the alleged shooter knocking out an 850# double-paned safety glass window and leisurely firing down-angle into the crowd with a bump stock-equipped rifle! Well, I called B.S. right then.
But I KNEW that the feds would get to the bottom of the LV attack and let us all know what actually occurred.
Oops! I must’ve misplaced that report. I can’t seem to find anything definitive from the FBI on the matter other than, “We will not comment on an ongoing investigation.”
Just listening to the audio makes that clear. You can hear short bursts of 556 at a higher cyclic rate and the long, slower, boomier sounds of a belt fed chugging along. Comparing audio it sounds like a M240. IIRC the belt fed strings were well over 30 rounds, so not mag fed. Also the bursts were too close together for a mag change.
Also note that they’ve never specified what caliber caused what injuries.
Pure BS
I looked it up. There are differences. According to one site:
While firearms chambered in .308 Winchester can generally use 7.62×51 ammunition safely, the inverse is not always true.
https://blog.primaryarms.com/guide/7-62x51mm-308-winchester-compared/
308 is 67 pounds per thousand rounds. I have the bad discs to prove it….That van had to be struggling. 9 mm and 5.56 weigh in almost identical at around 26 lbs / 1000. Yes Pedro was up to mucho malo.
Either way it is more than double the listed carrying capacity of the van and I know what it looks like when a van like that is overloaded a little bit with adults.
How many of these ammo runs have gone undetected?
Remember all the military age ‘refugees’ that have been waltzing across the border – including these two grease balls?
“Maybe the ATF could take a break from arresting/murdering law abiding Americans for a second to track down where this ammo came from and how these two obtained so much?”
They could but would they? Would they tell us the truth if they did?
“or was it being cached somewhere in the U.S. for nefarious reasons?”
Yep! They’re poised to do to citizens here what they do to each other in their shithole country. Stay away from crowds and let the MAGA’s, normies and cucks get hit.
“Remember Trump’s threat to classify the narco-gangs of Central America as terrorist outfits and talk of bombing them? Wonder why that never happened?”
Too busy defending the chosen scum and Zelensky, that’s why.
Well, in their defense. We all keep saying to buy more ammo…..
Maybe they were listening?
Pulled over for failure to dim the headlights? I’m guessing the low beams were on, just pointing a little higher because the ass of the van was dragging.
Bet that was an interesting conversation.
We hear so much about “FEMA Camps” and other private enclaves run by “foreign nationals” within our nation, so where are they? Are there no locals who can sniff out unusual truck activity, gatherings on land, warehouses with unknown content? Military-age Chinese nationals making endless gas and ammo runs in local, Bum Fuck, Idaho gas stations & gun stores?
Nobody has ever told us the location of even one of these sites, so where the F are they doing their thing?
It’s because THEY don’t WANT you to know.
Jesse Ventura on his “Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura” show about 15 years ago had an episode on FEMA camps. It was shown once and NEVER again.
FYI most of these are on military bases usually “National Guard” bases.
If anyone ever asks these are for “national disasters”, yeah BS.
180 cs of 1,000 rds at 67 lb per case is over 12,000 lbs. 6 tons in a cargo van. Amazing.
I bet you can count on one hand the number of gun shops in FUSA that would have 180 cases of any one chambering that isn’t 5.56, 9 mm or .22 LR in the store available to purchase.
Take these scum bags, enhanced interrogation, get the info break down the network and shake the tree, a good case to be treated as potential terrorism, find the cartel/chinese caches of weapons that have been reported all over the west and southwest US mostly in the mtns. .308/7.62 x 51 isnt a “street” round, like 9mm, 7.62 x39 or 5.56mm. Those 308/ 7.62 x 51 were likely to be used in belt fed weapons as BCE pointed out. Im guessing the ammo was FMJ.
My guess is the demonrats, TPTB, the left, cartels and blue hair tards are gonna set it off this summer cuz orange man bad, if your not a bluetard faggot, lgbt-bbq youre bad also.
All I know is that there is no such thing as too much ammo.
Probably only getting a small piece of the story here. Sounds like they were already on the trail of these guys and had to come up with some pretext to stop them (not dimming lights, not signaling). I’m willing to bet this was part of a larger investigation.
My UPS guy would be pissed if I ordered 180 1,000 round cases at one time. He always comments about delivering another box of freedom when he brings my SGAmmo orders to the door.
Suspecting there’s more to this story, lots more if the Feds would tell it.
Headed to Pueblo, Colorado according to one report. Colorado about to be enriched?
