Just based on the headline, I have questions. The details make it worse.
A formal investigation is underway as police try to piece together what led to the death of a 62-year-old woman. Stephanie Dowells was visiting her husband, who was convicted of a 1990 mass shooting, but their conjugal visit soon turned fatal when Dowells was pronounced dead.
Her husband, David Brinson, 54, was convicted of four murders for shooting four people during a 1990 robbery. Since then, he’s been serving four consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole at the Mule Creek State Prison near Sacramento, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Now, he’s become the center of the investigation into his wife’s death after he was the last person to see her alive.
Brinson first claimed his wife fainted during their unsupervised, overnight visit on Nov. 13, 2024. But soon, it was confirmed Dowells had been strangled, with her death ruled a homicide, according to KCRA. She was pronounced dead around 2:51 a.m.
Now, Dowells’ family continues to demand answers as to why an inmate with such a known violent past was allowed to have unsupervised visits in the first place. “Given the history that this guy has, we kind of wanted to know how is it even possible for them to be unsupervised?” Dowell’s son, Armand Torres, said. “My mom was just left alone, and she called for help, I’m sure, and there’s nothing she could do,” he continued.
According to the California Department of Corrections, only inmates on death row, convicted sex offenders, or those under disciplinary restrictions are banned from having conjugal visits “in private, apartment-like facilities on prison grounds and last approximately 30 to 40 hours.”

Let me get this straight. This 2G murdered four people in 1990. He appropriately gets life in prison with no chance for parole. Still he gets to shack up with his old lady for almost 2 whole days so he can get laid? Silly me, I thought the point of prison (especially for murderers that are never getting out) was to punish people for their crimes but I guess punishing them includes booty calls. Now the Department of Corrections is going to get sued for letting a woman voluntarily come give it out to her violent felon husband.
The other thing I would point out, me being me, is that this shitbird has such an utter lack of self-control that even as a 54 year old man who is getting some tang despite being a lifer in prison, he still can’t control his temper and murders the only woman who is willing to show up to get humped by him. Even if he finds some other crazy bitch to marry him now, I can’t imagine he will be allowed future conjugal visits so it’s back to humping his hand or finding some young looking new inmate. I have never been incarcerated much less in for life but I have to assume that getting some alone time with a woman would be worth keeping your temper in check for 40 hours.
On the other hand, if David Brinson was capable of thinking through the consequences of his actions he probably wouldn’t be in prison for life in the first place. You could almost feel for the guy, biology has handed him an unwinnable genetic hand but then again even by 2G standards this guy is a dumbass.

1990 mass murder and subsequent permanent incarceration (though not on death row, for some reason). 54 years old in 2025. This very bad boy was 19 when he justifiably lost his freedom. Cali has been housing, feeding and (obviously) coddling this psycho for 3-1/2 decades.
Clearly they ‘married’ while he was in prison, for 19 year old homeboys do not marry women 8 years their senior before capping four victims and getting sent off for life. Which really makes me question the sanity of his ‘wife’. Carrying a torch for some doomed murderer 8 years younger and in permanent custody? Could you script a more hopeless scenario than that?
If he was just looking for some way to induce the state to hasten his miserable end with capital punishment, he is shit out of luck. Cali would not euthanize Satan himself, no matter how much he begged for it.

Maybe they should put a sign above the conjugal arrangement barracks that says “Abandon hope, all ye who enter here” although I doubt that will help much in the forthcoming lawsuits.

…and nothing of value was lost. So we have a quad (now quintuple) murderer getting some tang from a prison groupie cougar with delusions of bringing him the gospel. For fucks sake, everyone in this story is congenitally stupid, including the prison that is allowing homie 40 hours of alone time to bang out some old lady who, at 62, should be more concerned with applying for her AARP membership than getting laid by bad boy Tyrone. Almost sounds like the plot of a dark comedy, it’s all so absurd.
