
One of the many wake-up calls during the Covid-19 “pandemic” was that there sure were a lot of “non-essential workers” in America and that oddly enough it seemed that the “non-essential workers” got paid a lot more than the “essential workers” that still had to show up. Nowhere was this more true than in government jobs, leading to a lot of people asking what exactly we were paying these people for if they could not show up for work for weeks on end with no impact to the rest of the country.
A few years later and we have Elon Musk and DOGE asking Federal workers a very simple question: what did you actually do last week? Simply having to explain in a very brief email what you did for an entire week while getting paid was considered outrageous to Federal workers. How dare you ask me what I do! As I commented at John Wilder’s excellent post this morning: I can list more than five things I did just yesterday but then again I work for myself and if I don’t work hard, I don’t get paid. Weird how that creates an incentive to work that doesn’t exist for gubmint worker drones.
Most of us have had multiple unpleasant experiences interacting with the government and often those experiences are even more unpleasant because so many government worker drones are black women. When you combine their natural nastiness with the protection of a government job that you can’t be fired from, you get entitled, bitchy and hostile workers that are wildly overpaid for the menial work they do in jobs that skew heavily toward black women because of “affirmative action”.
How heavily skewed are these jobs in favor of black women?

…..At the Department of Health and Human Services, where more than 1,300 new hires were reportedly laid off, 20% of the staff was Black. And at the Department of Veterans Affairs, which recently lost 1,000 employees, 24% are Black.
In other words, without cushy government jobs that blacks are given hiring preference for, most blacks would be firmly in the depths of the lower class.
If you wonder why educational results are so poor, having blacks make up almost 30% of Department of Education workers might be one of the factors. At the lower ranks of the Federal workforce, I am confident that the percentages are even higher. Thanks to the Federal employee unions, these low level jobs pay a great salary with even better benefits that most private sector worker bees could only dream of, and of course you also can never get rid of these people. These Federal jobs account for the huge population of blacks in the District of Columbia that either work bullshit government jobs or are criminals.
In summary, the government is little more than a jobs program for blacks, especially black women, a place to employ female black college graduates as the private sector demands you actually perform in your job. One more reason to be cautiously optimistic about DOGE.

Note the 256k only accounts for black wimmin with college degrees – there are hundreds of thousands more without said degrees all on the fed’s dime. I got a summer job/grad-student ‘internship’ with fedgov half way through my last masters degree. Desperately needed (I was beyond broke). Got there and they had no idea what to do with me – so put the two black secretaries ‘in charge’ of me. Sent me off to photocopy and file while they did they nails and ‘read’ romance novels. I was rescued a few weeks in and transferred to another office, but there are still tons of black wommin are still pretending to work.
Back in mid 1970s I took the Federal Civil Service Entrance Exam trying for a summer job (the exam Jimmih Carter abolished in 1978 because too many blacks and wimmin failed it). It was -per admitted dinosaur Steve Sailer – comparable to today’s GRE. I was young but far from stupid – and found the exam quite demanding. Most college grads today would fail it. Not to say all fed employees in the 1960s and 1970s were smart and competent, but they had to know how to read, write, and do genuine high-school level mathematics.
It’s not just gubmint employment grifting. I work for a ginormous defense contractor and the admittedly few black females in our employ all enjoy high-status positions with salary commensurate. There are no black executive assistants (formerly ‘secretaries’) but more than a few department ‘leads’ who check the black and female diversity boxes. Do they actually ‘lead’ anyone or anything? Aw, hell, no. They are all non-technical ‘tactical’ hires, as they are known. Since we deal exclusively with DoD contracts, there are periodic audits that do indeed check up on the number and percentage of ‘disadvantaged’ minorities in our employ, as well as how well they are compensated.
Tangentially, things are curiously muted this time around for Black History Month at my facility. No imposing posterboards showcasing black accomplishments greeting visitors just inside the front doors, as in the past. But you can still find easy access to the Black Women in Engineering tab on the company website, on which one of the featured stories is that of the octoroon “calculator” lady who single-handedly made the moon missions possible. So the agitprop is still there. They just aren’t actively shoving our noses in it any longer.

If Trump doesn’t manage to implement solutions to these issues that have some permanence about them (and EO’s aren’t going to cut it) all we are getting is a 2-3 year slight respite from that which was destroying the country, and most of that will be more a matter of how surface level perception than anything of actual substance.

Believe me, I see all those same problems you just pointed out, and I have no reason whatsoever to believe that a crash and burn could be avoided even if Trump took the most extreme necessary measures, and of course we can be pretty confident that he won’t.
I can’t think of a single instance in history where an empire in its death throes managed to pull out of an uncontrolled spiral like the one we’ve been in the last several years. I see no indication that the FUSA will fare any better, human nature being what it is.

In other news, my husband had to shoot a raccoon yesterday. Started approaching me when I was unloading groceries from the car. Would not leave when my husband shouted at it – kept coming close (within 3 feet). Didn’t seem at all aggressive, but I’ve read that losing fear of people is an early sign of rabies. So anyhow, shot it. This afternoon the turkey vultures showed up, as well as a pair of kestrels – all for one raccoon. Only a few deer came to eat and definitely seemed uneasy by all the huge buzzards – 6-9 at a few points. Hope they’re gone by tomorrow. The kestrels are beautiful – golden chests and black and white tail feathers – and they definitely intimidated the vultures.

I worked for the Feds in DC in the 80s. There were about 1200 people working 3 shifts in my Department. I saw our jobs were about to be computerized and left for a similar job in Tennessee. When the job was finally ready to be done by computers, they moved the department to a new facility built for Robert Byrd in West Virginia rather than make the 900 layoffs if it had stayed in DC.
About 75 percent of my co-workers were urban dwellers of DC and Ball’Mer. They knew none of them would want to move to a lily white area in Appalachia.

Ive been saying this for years, its working welfare. I forget the actual number of fed and contract black employees in the pentagram, i think it was like 50+% despite being 11.9% of the population. Of the three bad employees i had to manage there all making 6 figure salaries who did nothing, i couldnt get two of them fired despite one committing felonies on the job ina SCIF. Those two claimed ” minority” status and when i would try to review their work and ability, i got complaints filed against me for being racist. So, yeah burn this mfer down. The whole area in DC is black federal workers driving BMWs. I had a black LT in my one of my MI units, he didnt even have his TS-SCI clearance yet, get hired by DIA as a GS-13.
In another unit i had A black female SGT, again mil intel get hired right out of school as a GS12. I have three degrees and they offered me a GS-7 after working as a GS-13/15 equivalent for 7 years. Yep, just call the Biloxi VA and you’ll get a Laquisha working from home smacking her lips on dem chicken bones. Ive literally recorded it numerous times.
