For gun owners in America, we seem to be in a great position. Guns are plentiful and are dang near being given away. I had two guys last week with FDE Beretta M9A4s that were “blemished” for only $750 when the minimum advertised price is over $1000. Palmetto State is running crazy sales for Labor Day as usual and I get badgered by sales reps from gun companies seeing if I need anything. Thanks to the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Inc. v. Bruen decision, shortened as Bruen in most conversations, we are seeing gun control being slowly rolled back all over the place and there are a slew of cases working their way through the system. Over half of U.S. states are “Constitutional Carry”, meaning most people can carry a concealed firearm without needing to obtain a license.
Life is good for Team Good Guys With Guns, right?
Yes and no.
Yes as in right now today. If I was so inclined I could go to any number of retail gun shops and order just about anything. Even unobtainable stuff like Beretta 1301 shotguns are in stock at some places. Ammo prices have come down in most categories although 5.56/7.62×39 is still much pricier than pre-2020 levels but at least you can get it. 9mm can be had for under $.15/round although most decent FMJ 9mm is going for more like $.25/round. All great news.
No in the longer term and here is why: the gun rights movement has been hyper focused on gun rights and nothing else. Lee Williams had an interesting piece about Tampon Tim Walz the other day, ‘A chameleon’ – Minnesota gun owners sound off about Gov. Tim Walz, and wrote this:
When Walz served in Congress from 2007 to 2019, he was an A-rated, NRA-endorsed congressman.
The NRA used to wield a lot more power than it does today and was notorious for endorsing politicians that were considered good on guns no matter what else they were. From 1993 to 2011 the Upper Peninsula and the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan were represented by Bart Stupak, a Democrat who was endorsed by the NRA while he was also in favor of Obamacare and “hate crimes” laws. Bart was my Congressman for several years when we lived in the Northern Lower Peninsula. An even more egregious example is Comrade Bernie Sanders, the socialist crusader against the wealthy who owns three homes. Bernie was elected to Congress with significant support from the NRA despite being an avowed leftist on every other issue as the Washington Post reported: The NRA helped elect Bernie Sanders. Why won’t he admit it?
And while Sanders is quick to bring up his 1988 defeat, he rarely mentions his 1990 win, which came with help from the NRA. Soon after Smith took office, the freshman Republican reversed himself and sponsored a bill banning assault weapons. Vermont gun groups were apoplectic and called for his resignation. Throughout the 1990 campaign, Sanders deftly exploited the rift. Though he, too, supported an assault weapons ban, he promised hunters he would always be straight with them. That fall, the NRA spent between $18,000 and $20,000 on anti-Smith ads. “Bernie Sanders is a more honorable choice for Vermont sportsmen than Peter Smith,” NRA executive Wayne LaPierre wrote his members.
Sanders won the race and kept his promise. He was an occasional ally to the NRA, repeatedly voting against the Brady Bill, which mandated waiting periods and background checks; opposing funding for gun violence research; and voting to protect gun manufacturers and retailers from lawsuits.
Bernie was the better choice on guns in that particular race so the NRA backed him and helped to install a socialist in Congress from 1991 to the present day, in both the House and now the Senate. In fairness, if it wasn’t Bernie it would have been some other far-left loon, this is Vermont after all, but it is telling that the leading gun rights organization for most of the last century was endorsing and supporting people who were wrong on every other issue besides guns.
I get it. That is what the NRA’s political mission was all about. It also shows the danger of single issue groups. Anti-abortion groups in America are much the same, and like the dog chasing a car that they suddenly caught, now they are unsure what to do next. Having seen Roe v Wade overturned, they are now incensed that the man mostly responsible for that, Donald Trump, is not focused on abortion in this election and are now threatening to not vote for Trump. I am in principle opposed to abortion, at least for Whites, and was an inflexible anti-abortion absolutist for a long time but I also recognize that a national abortion ban is never, ever going to happen. I doubt many states can even be pushed that way now. The landscape for abortion in America is pretty set and if anything I would see more states like Ohio that push to make abortion legal. What could happen? A national abortion “rights” bill that would extend the “right” to abortion across the country, and that would be far more likely without Orange Man in the White House.
Back to the gun rights question. People who care about the Second Amendment and gun rights have poured money and effort into that issue for decades and mostly quite successfully. In a lot of states and congressional districts it is political suicide to cross the NRA and other gun groups. Unfortunately those efforts to win battles against gun control laws, an issue near and dear to my own heart as a 2A absolutist, have meant that many 2A advocates failed to realize that there is more to preserving the 2nd Amendment than just defeating gun laws, as critical as that has been.
The number one issue that impacts the future of gun rights in America is not overturning “assault weapons” bans or passing Constitutional carry laws. The issue that is the most critical and the one that is going to lead inexorably to the end of the 2A is immigration. I wrote what I think is a pretty good post about this some years ago: The Single Issue Focus Of The Gun Rights Lobby: Both Their Greatest Strength And A Fatal Flaw. I would encourage you to read the whole thing at your leisure.
We have been told by Republican “leaders” and conservative “thinkers” that mestizos are “natural conservatives” because most of them are culturally Catholic but that simply is not true as my post linked above shows, and in fact mestizo immigrants tend to be even more leftist than American blacks. This is from the post:
Mestizo attitudes mirror their loyalty to the Democrats. The poll that really jumped out at me was this one:
What that means for the future of the 2nd Amendment in a nation that is becoming majority-minority is pretty grim. Every three million new mestizo voters is a net one million voters who want more gun control and even if they aren’t really concerned with it, will agree to more gun control if that is what it takes to get more free stuff. Honestly I don’t think the average mestizo voter cares about gun rights or gun control, but they know that supporting gun control is the price of admission for the stuff they do want.
As mestizos eclipse White voters, there will be no chance of the 2nd Amendment, or the Constitution as a whole in any recognizable sense, surviving. Already the Constitution is mostly an impotent relic as it only means what any given judge or justice says it means.
Gun rights groups have been waging a fighting retreat for years, winning lots of battles and skirmishes along the way but are just now discovering that they lost the real war decades ago.
That is even more true now with four more years of Whites not replacing themselves and mestizos and other non-White exploding in population. Jared Taylor had a good video about this topic the other day:
Demographics are indeed destiny and that is true nowhere more than in gun rights.
Meanwhile gun rights groups are chasing after the elusive new women, blacks, Asian and mestizo gun owners, failing to understand that giving a mestizo a gun doesn’t make them more likely to vote for pro-2A candidates but it does make them more likely to shoot at people. The news this week out of Aurora, Colorado included a lovely group of mestizo immigrants from “Tren de Aragua” taking over apartments and wandering around carrying rifles.
Residents are prisoners in their own homes, held hostage like a mestizo version of New Jack City. The story in Aurora, a once fairly nice city, is the same as all the rest:
When the percentage of Whites is going down and the percentage of blacks and mestizos is going up? Your city is turning into a violent shithole.
More and better armed minorities doesn’t equate to more votes for pro-2A candidates, but it does equate to more violent crime.
Enjoy the good times now fellas because while things are all sunshine and puppy dog tails in the gun business today, the end is just around the corner.
I always thought single issue voters are fools. Along with those that vote on personality.
There are some issues that I considered to be inviolate but I also recognize that many different issues impact the ones that I am most concerned about.
I support strict gun control for African Americans.
I say that as a person of color.
LaSagna
Concur.
And the mestizos will actually use their guns to shoot those posturing, chicken-shit 2A blowhards. Pancho and Paco will start culling our own herd very soon.
Looks like they are laying the groundwork in Colorado as we speak. But hey, LEO is gonna save us. Back the blue.
Think I’ll keep on going with Plan B.
Trump said he will fix it so I am sure that has them shaking in their boots or whatever mestizo gangsters wear.
Esteemed CPUSA (D) party member comrade kommissar Barnie Sandlers of the glorious peoples republic of Vermont (you put your weed in it) has never voted against the MIC or war and has had protesters arrested.
His Porsche is red but doesn’t have any hammer and sickle trim.
Doubtful CPUSA (D) useless idiot dupes care.
The best you can hope for is to live in a gun friendly state because if Tampon Timmah and Cackles the Clown get (s)elected they will be coming after the 2A by any means necessary.
Bathhouse Barry won’t rest until the Fundamental Transformation into steaming fourth world turd is complete, even if we are already there.
Arm up and walk the flank, take no shit from any rank.
The only good commie vermin is one devoured by vermin.
Good advice, better to live somewhere where things are as good as possible for when it comes unglued
Amen on that Brother… When you coming out west😉
All of these white females who just love minorities…have some very unpleasant surprises in store for them in the next ten years…
Feminism is going to evaporate overnight once they realize that this isn’t a movie and they need men to defend them
…that’s when – suddenly, realizing- their soyboy or mudskin choice should have been for white apocalyptic warlord instead. joke’s on them
Karl Frederick NRA President in his 1934 testimony to that criminal class known as the US Congress in 1934, in support of the NFA: “I do not believe in the promiscuous toting of guns. I think it should be sharply restricted and only under licenses”. “promiscuous toting of guns” that phrase is in my grey matter every freaking time someone mentions the NRA. The largest most well funded genocide advocacy organization in world history. I fervently hate the phrase “gun control” and always replace it with “genocide advocacy”. I have composed a song Genocide Advocate. The treachery of the NRA is legion.
They still puff their chest out and take credit when GOA or FPC wins a court case
2A rights mean nothing unless the owners of those arms get the will to use them as intended by Jefferson et al, some time ago. The tree of liberty looks pretty wilted.
Life is still too comfortable for most
Most gun owners skip right over the well regulated militia part, which is the only way you keep Tyranny at bay…
“…being NECESSARY to the SECURITY of a FREE State…”
most skip.right over this part, as well.
For purposes of “the security of a free state,” technology is going to make guns obsolescent long before they ever get around to repealing 2A. And the regime knows this. It will be kind of like clinging to the right to bear bows and arrows in the advent of gunpowder. Only in our time it’s drones/robotics. About the only thing guns will be good for is licensed, regulated hunting and target shooting. If necessary, perhaps you will be able to shoot another white person in self defense.
Bart Stupak, the “Last of the Bluedog Democrats” and former State Trooper, was the deciding vote for Obamacare.
After the death threats and being voted out of office despite NRA support, I bet he had a well-funded retirement.
LOL funny thing is he held up Obamacare until abortion was exemptwd from funding- by executive order. Also funny was The Tea Party© bullied him into not seeking re-election, remember them?
Like most modern political apparatchiks, he had a child sacrificed to gain access to the deep end of the pool.
They had to steal two Senate seats to make it happen, Stevens in Alaska and Coleman in Minnesota. Don’t take my word for it, look it up.
Those seats were just the most blatant and harder to cover up.
Samuel Clemens was right about voting, and just about everything else.
It is extremely hard not to get mad at the Goy-trap called politics. That’s why it is used every two years or less.
He was really the last of that style of Democrats, the pro-gun working class types who were popular in the rust belt
No one will ever have a say in what I will possess.
The very nerve.
What next, telling me I can’t possess peanut butter? A step ladder?
They are already trying to regulate basic home appliances, nothing is off limits
Yep they slowly closing the fence tighter and tighter around us, squeezing us a little tighter all the while we sit and complain about it or say that it doesn’t affect us…
The only people that allow other people to dictate their lives are slaves, and they deserve what they’ll get.
I’ve learned how to avoid most dictators, large and small.
The first thing you have to do is determine what is important in your life.
Most people, it seems, are unwilling to do that…and they complain like wore out old horz when they are treated like draft animals.
The North American Zoological Institute fully supports abortion rights for the historically-repressed women of color!
Not just the right to but a making it mandatory would help, or at least involuntary sterilization
If they only knew how many more gold rims and KFC they could afford without their niglets.
If only we had that single issue focus on immigration . . .
That youngster appears to carry an AR variant.
I think his decision to use a 14-power scope for home-invasions, well, I just think that is odd.
