The traditional image of the cattle rancher is of the rugged cowboy who rides the open range, braving the elements to watch over his herd. It is one of the quintessential icons of Americana and the subject of countless Western novels, films and television series. Some of the most iconic movies are set in the cowboy West and cowboys epitomize American rugged individualism. In Hollywood anyway….
In the real world the cattle business is Big Business as is most of agriculture and it doesn’t look much like a Clint Eastwood Western. Modern cattle raising isn’t so much the lone cowboy riding the range as it is baby calves being bottle fed in tiny pens before being packed into barns where they eat a grain-heavy diet to pack on the pounds quickly followed by being shipped somewhere in the West where they stand in enormous feedlots being finished up before slaughter.
I have been by the huge feedlots in places like Greeley, Colorado that you smell long before you can see but I checked and the current champion of the feedlots is Blackshirt Feeders in SW Nebraska just barely east of the Colorado state line. Here is the satellite view…

According to Grok, they have gone from 95,000 head in 2025 to 150,000 head by the end of this year and as many as 200,000 head next year. They are packed into one square mile from what I can tell so that is just a lot of cattle in a pretty small area. A finishing steer generates more than 50 pounds of shit per day so doing the math….
150,000 steers x 50 pounds of manure per day = 7.5 million pounds of shit or (/ 2,000) approximately 3,750 tons of shit every single day.
Not exactly the sort of thing that makes for a movie. Fortunately the feedlot is surrounded by a whole lot of nothing so there are plenty of acres of farm ground to spread the shit and once it dries the volume and weight is drastically reduced but even still it is a lot of shit to deal with. Not to mention that a steer needs about 10 gallons of water per day so 1.5 million gallons evey day in an area that is incredibly arid sitting on an aquifer that is rapidly running out of water.
Anyway, enough bovine scatological trivia. The reason I bring this up is something that is “going viral” on Twitter, a tweet published by the Texas Cattle Feeders Association, jointly with the Kansas Livestock Association and Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. I will screenshot it in two parts…
They claim that these “ICE operations”, code for “law enforcement enforcing the law”, are “having a massive chilling effect on the legal, documented, skilled workers”. If I may return to the bovine scatological references for a moment: bullshit.
This guy has their number:
Guys that feed 50,000 cattle on concrete slabs aren’t “cowboys”, they are feed lot operators. Still an important function but as far from cowpokes riding the range as you can get and still be involved in the beef production process. Those feedlots are filled by thousands of smaller operators raising calves in pens, many right here around me. By the time they get to these feedlots they are already enormous and just being fattened up in the last stages.
What is really happening and why they are getting blown up in the replies is that their illegal labor is worried about being rounded up and are looking for greener pastures. That is the problem with a transient workforce, they have no roots and will go where they can a) get paid and b) not get deported. They use this illegal labor because they are cheap, they will do the hard and dirty and sometimes dangerous work and if they get injured, they are not covered by workman’s comp so you send them to the hospital to get cared for, paid for by Americans, and then plug in a different illegal in their place.
The whole thing is some forked tongue double-speak bullshit. Oh we respect the law but enforcing the law makes us a little less profitable. As the saying goes, anything someone says prior to saying “but” is irrelevant, like “I support the 2nd Amendment but I think we should make it harder for law abiding Americans to own firearms” really means “I don’t support the 2nd Amendment at all”.
What is infuriating is that these people are probably almost all “conservative Republicans” would would wax eloquently about family and the rule of law but when it comes times to making an extra dime per pound on a steer they are willing to sell out the future of this country for some extra profit now.
These people have to know that thanks to a series of misguided interpretations, any little Pedro or Juanita that is born within the legal boundaries of the United States magically becomes just as American as the White 6th generation rancher, even if their mother is here illegally.
As a result, even in my life time back to the 1970s, Texas was still over 70% White but today Whites are under 40% of the population and dropping fast. Not primarily because of pajeets in Austin attending U of T but because of the explosion in the mestizo population that went from 16% in the 1970s to 40% officially today and unofficially is certainly close to an absolute majority.
What legacy will these ranchers leave to their posterity? The entire region overrun by mestizos and transformed into Sinaloa? They should maybe spend a little time looking at South Africa to see what happens when White farmers in remote locations become a distinct and unprotected minority. The extra few pieces of silver you get per truckload of cattle won’t do you much good when you watch your family tortured to death.
On display is the problem with “conservatism” and not just that it doesn’t conserve anything. Modern conservatism is basically lower taxes and regulations and supporting Israel, with some scraps thrown to the culture warriors on abortion and trannies and the occasional nod to gun rights.
A real right-wing is concerned with not just the right now but with our place in the past and our vision for the future, and if that vision is not centered in our blood, in our people, then what are we? The embodiment of an false nation that is nothing more than an economic zone where anyone can be just as much a part of our nation as anyone else as long as they contribute to the GDP.
This is why “MAGA” was so fragile and so easily was sundered. It was a movement that tried to combine groups that didn’t have any sort of unified vision. Making America great again would require not just a plan for doing so but a definition of what made America great in the first place. Instead the movement centered around a cult of personality in the form of Trump who said things that sounded great on the campaign trail but in practice has absolutely no idea what he is doing.
These cattle feeding associations of Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas are finding themselves getting zero sympathy for their crying about ICE scaring off their cheap illegal labor. If you care so little about the future of this country that you are willing to sell the heritage of your posterity of the future for some profit today, you are in fact the enemy of the American people no matter how ridiculously big your cowboy hat and belt buckle.

I’m in Alberta. A local tree farm just before covid went from hiring locals to bringing in Mexican temporary foreign workers. For the first bit they still had the greenspaces you could walk around and pick your tree or bush you wanted. People started complaining the newly arrived staff were shitting on the displays and groping female visitors. The owners solution was to shut down the storefront and go to online orders only. No more picking your individual tree or bush, no more heritage brands, no greenhouses of bedding out flowers. All this coresponded with the daughter taking over the business.
No locals buy from them anymore, they sell only to big developers in the city who just want a tree or two for a new house they will sell to a pajeet.
Its bad enough we avoid the grocery store on sundays. Thats the day were the tree place buses all the Mexicans to our store to buy groceries and make rude gestures.

Without dismissing completely legitimate alarm over the many millions of Arabs, Africans, pajeets, and Muslims of all stripes that are here now, my perpetual concern has always been that we have for decades now been absolutely over run with MEXICANS. It has been continuous and ongoing, and has been done to us on purpose by our own government and the various so-called ‘NGOs’ that carry out the unspoken policy of our government.
Here in Phoenix AZ, no matter where you go, you are just as likely to hear Spanish being spoken as English. And whenever I travel by road, it is the same just about everywhere. Even in supposed deep red conservative areas, the brown skinned Mexicans are everywhere. We ARE being replaced, and rather quickly at that.
Every word of that farcical statement by the Cattleman’s Association was utter bullshit. They claim that they want a stable workforce ? Well, there is nothing more stable, reliable, and hardworking than a workforce comprised of White, LEGAL American men. They claim that ICE raids are hitting them at a bad time? Well, even if that were true, they would not need to worry about such a thing if they hired LEGAL American White men in the first place.
As far as I am concerned, they would not ICE activities so far are too little too late. When we voted for Trump in att three of the presidential elections that he won, we envisioned an Eisenhower style Operation Wetback that would remove TENS of millions of illegals (primarily Mexicans). What has been done so far is a tiny fraction of what needs to be done.
For decades American has been and continues to be Mexico’s over-population safety valve. Biden and Mayorkas allowed in another 20 million in just the span of four years. In 1960 the United States had a population of approximately 180 million people, and those people were 80-90% White and Christian. Today, just fifty-some years later, our population is literally doubled in size, and virtually ALL of that increase has happened entirely because of immigration. And along with that Whites are now a MINORITY in our own homeland, both in terms of ethnicity and religion.
Again, it was done to us intentionally. At the same time the floodgates were opened wide to all non-White ethnicities, White Europeans who wanted to emigrate here have been denied admittance for decades. It does not get any more in-your-face racist than that. The Great Replacement is real, and it continues apace. And in order to have any meaningful effect, ICE operations would need to be increased by several orders of magnitude. Which is not going to happen. If we manage to stave off being replaced, which does not seem likely, I fear that will only happen with a WWIi level of bloodshed. If it comes to that, in the words of Matt Bracken, your skin color will be your uniform, whether you choose so or not.

I worked on the North Slope in Alaska last year and while the traveling in and out and the weather sucked, it was very nice not being around very many of them. Mostly White work force and everything was always ordered and efficient without anyone saying a word. 90% White is a very different thing from 50% White, as we are seeing in society at large.

Excellent post; I concur with every word. Many local people here have cows, but I cannot find anywhere to buy locally grown beef. Not even the local butcher has any – all the calves are sold to the big buyers and then sold elsewhere to finish feeding/fattening up. Yes, I could buy a local cow from an individual farmer, but at least half of that meat would be ground beef, which we eat very little of (I primarily buy roasts and steaks).
And attached is a video from some folks I’ve watched on and off for 5-6 years. They are a bit north of us and did not exactly get rich from the sale of their 7 calves. It’s the feed lot operators who make the money – using illegal mestizo labor. We lived amongst the encroachment in Texas for 30 years, and are now watching it creep across our corner of the Ozarks. Wherever Mexicans go, there is Mexico . . . and you could not pay me to go to Mexico.

Most of the local Amish that raise baby calves are doing so for a handful of Amish big cattle guys, one guy near us has between 80,000 and 100,000 scattered around a bunch of smaller farms.
Many years ago I read sites from La Raza, La Voz de Aztlan and MEChA – short for Hispanic sites – they all said that they wanted the territory back Mexico lost in the 1800 just like the german expelles want the german eastern territories back, but compared to the germans who are so lowkey that you nearly dont see or hear them, the Mexicans are LOUD.

I’m lucky to be able to source locally raised small ranch beef. I realize that isn’t an option for everybody currently but, it is a possible solution in most anyplace. Why would anybody want factory beef if a small ranch herd is an option?
I try to have at least one steer on site in the pipeline at all times but it takes a long time to get from a baby calf to steaks and you need land and forage so it isn’t plausible for most people.
If the Texas Cattle Feeders Association and the other cattle associations mentioned above cared a whit about America they would simply enforce “E-Verify.”
Additionally, they could make it a priority to seek out and hire White Americans for their industry.
But they do not, for the same reason that tech companies bring in H1b pajeets to replace actual White American STEM degree-holders.
