Broadly speaking, schooling is supposed to be about learning (or in Minneapolis “learing”). There are other factors like learning to get along with others and obtaining certain social skills, such as how to keep quiet about your teacher molesting you, but those are secondary to the fundamental building blocks of learning. Our schools are designed to build on prior learning, so you go from learning your numbers to basic addition and subtraction, then multiplication and division, fractions, geometry, algebra, and so on.
In practice very little of that is going on of course. This has been true for quite some time and now it seems every public school teacher has a TikTok account where they proudly proclaim their intention to transform little kids into trannies. Despite the seemingly endless firehose of money we pour into public schools, educational achievement is on a downward trajectory.
Much or most of that is the result of demographics. In many inner city schools the student body looks like it was plucked from Juarez, Nairobi or some Indian subcontinent open air toilet. Our education system, whether “educators” will admit it or not, was designed by and for White students who on average possess the minimal intelligence needed to grasp the fundamentals of learning. It is not working and never will work regardless of spending on students who have IQs under 90. The less White (or East Asian) the school, the worse the educational results.
None of that is news to my astute readers of course.
That also doesn’t stop morons from insisting on making changes that do nothing to move the achievement needle for all sorts of reasons. For example down in the state capitol of Indianapolis we see this story:

Principal Ciara Jones says the atmosphere inside the school is different when students see so many men who look like them in positions of leadership.
“It’s a vibe,” Jones said. “It’s like having the uncles in the hallways. Learning feels more personable now.”
It’s like having uncles in the hallway? As in “I’ll be a monkey’s uncle”?
I saw the story on Faceberg and the comments were pretty evenly split between snarky comments from people like me, normies wondering why “color matters” when hiring and the frothing at the mouth defenders of this decrying people asking why “color matters” as racists.
Me being me, I asked myself “Self, I wonder if this has resulted in positive results for the students?”. Me also being me, I suspected it did not and as is usually the case, I was right. The stats for Avondale Meadows Middle School are pretty grim. First the lay of the land…..
Almost all from poor families, heavily skewed to male students, over 80% black, nearly 10% mixed race and 8% mestizo. Virtually no White students. That is a pretty ominous set of demographics and the results are exactly what you would expect.
Yikes. The English state required tests must be pretty easy and still less than a quarter met the bare bones standards. What is worse, English was the best result. In math 93% didn’t meet the standard and in science 98% were below the mark.
For a point of reference, these are the same tests taken by local Amish kids and many of them, at least the girls, score very well. I know a few that tested at high school senior level despite only going to school through the 8th grade. The Amish kids score very well compared to their peers and most have horrible grammar, although that doesn’t seem to stop them from being very successful in life.
Maybe it is just the racism talking but it seems to me that even though having male black teachers makes the students (and liberal White ladies on social media) feel good, it isn’t translating to better test scores. You can’t solve the problem of black underachievement by increasing the number of black teachers or even increasing the level of spending, not by any amount. The best we can do would be to stop pretending these li’l black “scholars” are going to become physicists and instead give them the bare bones of a rudimentary education and then teach them some marketable skills so the few that avoid prison or welfare can be useful members of society.
As a bonus on the topic of black “educators” that didn’t deserve a post of it’s own….

back when I had to go to court for my SSD. the wonderful folks at SS thought I would be better off if I was a teacher in high school. yeah, great. who doesn’t want to be a teacher in west or north Philly high school ? after 3 years of fighting them to get on SSD. this is what they wanted me to do instead of retiring ? granted I paid into the damn system since 1970. this was 2011.
the judge was getting pissed. I thought for sure I was fucked again. but no. the judge (black female) was pissed at THEM for fucking me around for 3 years.

Former high school science teacher here. I did it for just a year in a racially-mixed inner-city school near Atlanta, GA. back in the early 1990s. I was considerably younger and more naive than I am today – which is how I walked into that situation blind to what was likely to happen.
De jure, I was called a “science teacher” on the forms in personnel, but de facto I was a corrections officer. Rather than being an institution of learning, the school was a minimum security prison. One whose inmates ran the place.
The experience permanently changed me, ripping the blinders from my eyes for good. I was lucky to get out of there with my skin; fortunately for me I was young and strong and didn’t look like an easy mark. But I saw every social pathology you can name – drugs, out-of-wedlock births, assault, rape, and even murder. One of the students was killed over Christmas break for his “Air Jordan” sneakers.
Here’s the real topper, though: The students rated their teachers – and those ratings formed part of one’s annual performance review! The principal, a brain-washed lefty woman – white BTW – was hopeless and aided and abetted the students in their misadventures. She knew where her bread was buttered!
I couldn’t get out of there fast enough….
On the other hand my sister retired a couple of years ago after teaching biology at the same high school we all went to and she loved the kids and the job, staying for years past the point where she would get full retirement. She wouldn’t have lasted a day in a black school

I graduated college in 1977 with a teaching degree. As part of my student teaching during my last semester, I spent time in an inner city high school in Kansas City. The student body was almost 100% black, and surprisingly, the faculty was also mostly black men. They had a very low level of discipline issues there, because they had absolutely ZERO tolerance for any kind of acting up or acting out. They did not even tolerate any of the students being ill-mannered or disrespectful towards faculty members or even other students. Whether or not the students did well on the standardized state tests I do not know, as I was not there very long. But overall, it was a surprisingly well run and well controlled school. And the students were absolutely the most polite students I ever met, even far more so than in the almost 100% White school district I taught in later on.
Looking back on it almost fifty years later, several conclusions occur to me. First, I believe it was a case where the faculty, mostly black men, knew their own kind, and thus understood very well what was necessary to keep black teens and young adults under control. In doing so, they had to routinely exercise a certain level of violence in the process of keeping the students under control, and always with the unspoken threat of even greater violence if needed. Again, they knew and understood their own kind. Unfortunately, such a manner of keeping the student body under control would absolutely not be allowed in this day and age. And any teacher or faculty that dared to employ these methods today would be summarily fired, and very likely be facing criminal charges as well.
Another conclusion is that in the intervening decades, American youth, and particularly American black youth, has been inculcated with the message that they can do pretty much anything they want to do, and never be held to account. So the American student body today (particularly blacks) is radically different from the student body of fifty years ago. What worked back then, even if allowed, would be less likely to get the desired result – unless an even HIGHER level of violence on the part of the faculty were authorized. It truly is a different day and age today.

It has occurred to me many times since my teaching days that the role of the secondary classroom teacher ought to be divided into two: One role for a disciplinarian and another for the actual teacher. Few people know how to both well – and even fewer desire to do so.
What is needed in most of those tough inner-city schools are drill sergeant types. Men who tough-enough and dominant-enough to housebreak your typical thug-in-training. Or at least remove him from the class-room.
I knew the subject matter well, but I am not the type of personality who enjoys the DI role. The trouble is that you can know the subject matter backwards and forwards, but if you can’t maintain order, it doesn’t matter. Serious scholarship cannot be done in an environment of out-of-control chaos. Anyone who claims different is delusional.
How about instead of constantly accommodating them to try and get them to act civilized we just send them all back because we damn sure don’t have the stones to do what they really deserve…
