Yesterday afternoon Twitter was full of Plan Trusters smugly patting themselves on the back/jerking each other off because Trump declared the Strait of Hormuz to be as open as it was a few months ago before we started this stupid war of choice. Lots of “that oughta shut up them commie Panicans!”, proving that they a) don’t seem to understand what is actually happening and b) are desperate for some validation. The same with the “ceasefire” between Israel and Lebanon, starring my Congressman, the embarrassing Marlin Stutzman….
Cripes that guy is a douche.
Anyway, the Plan Truster victory lapping didn’t last for long….
Weirdly Iran isn’t interested in opening the Strait while the U.S. tries to blockade her ports. That seems awfully unreasonable! This whole war would have been much neater if Iran would have just done what Trump wanted them to do instead of fighting back when they were attacked like some kinda antisemites or something.
The utterly destroyed, annihilated like no navy has ever been annihilated before, Iranian navy seems to be shooting at ships trying to traverse the strait: Iranian Gunboats Open Fire On Tanker As Hormuz Closure Sparks Maritime Chaos. Iran is also officially denying that they are giving up their enriched uranium despite Trump claiming they are.

Something that needs to be understood. Pointing out that this war was a huge mistake and has seemed to cause something to break in the mind of the Bad Orange Man doesn’t mean supporting Iran or Islam or any of the other retarded things people accuse me of…

On the other hand, something needs to happen to break the stranglehold that Israel has on American foreign policy. Outside of Fox News watching Plan Trusting Boomers, support for Israel has cratered in America but that has yet to manifest itself in a change in American foreign policy which is run like America is made up exclusively of 60+ year old Whites who attend evangelical megachurches.
This war has been very costly in a variety of ways but the greatest cost has been the squandered political capital and resources that should have been directed doing what Trump ran on: mass deportations and rebuilding America’s economic base. It is quite apparent now that something happened along the way that derailed Trump, my theory being that he got frustrated and bored because judges were thwarting him and the GOP Congress was collectively sitting on their thumbs, so he turned to playing Risk with real people dying.
At this point Trump seems desperate for an off-ramp so he can go invade Cuba or something but Iran isn’t cooperating and I would be shocked if they don’t go full throttle to build nukes once America gives up and goes home.
It will be interesting to see what happens next, the whole thing is fascinating in a macabre and depressing way.
