This is fun.

Apparently there are no tankers to fill so they can’t pump more oil as they have nowhere to go with it. Caveat, I know nothing about oil production besides what I have seen on Landman.
Trump is talking about covering the insurance premiums for tanker ships, no idea what that would cost the taxpayers: Trump Announces US To Cover Insurance For All Ships Traveling Through Gulf, Will Provide US Navy Escorts
Great, something else we are on the hook for.
I am not sure that will do much to help, even with insurance who wants to sail a tanker through the Strait of Hormuz when it is likely to be hit? There isn’t really an “Iron Dome” for ships, not that the Iron Colander has been doing much anyway.
I filled up my vehicles with larger gas tanks (over 20 gallons), I like to keep them full anyway but especially now.
If gas prices spike before the weekend it could really cause significant economic damage. Our economy, fake and gay as it is, runs on cheap fuel and easy credit so kicking the legs out of the fuel part would be devastating. My business personally speaking is very fuel dependent so if gas prices go up, so will my prices.
It would be nice if we hadn’t spent the prior four years under the AutoPen trying everything in their power to make us dependent on foreign oil….
I, too, saw that bit about Trump guaranteeing insurance on Tankers in the Strait – because that’s what all the taxpayers voted for, of course. Nice of him to let us know after the fact. Big Country has a comment about gas prices in his area of Florida, which are significantly higher than mine in the Ozarks. Fwiw, the local in-town Phillips station has regular gas for $3.09 a gallon (using credit card) when it was about $2.64. The closest Walmart has it for $2.99. I filled up for $2.69 at the nearby independently owned grocery/gas station early this afternoon. We still have about 35 gallons of ethanol free stored (with Pri-G for longevity) in the garage, although that’s primarily intended for the zero turn and side by side.
There is nothing about this war that is good for a heritage American. For the Iranians with magic papers/magic dirt citizenship, it would be in their interest to recover property abandoned when they fled the country after the Ayatollahs took over. They’re not exactly a large voting bloc, but Trump and his magaturds will trumpet their support as if they’re direct descendants of George Washington himself.
Right up my alley. I try to keep around 100 gallons of ethanol free with stabilizer. I’m in the process of rotating it out right now.
And as you say, it is for the side-by-side primarily. We do a lot of work and chores and can do close local travel with it for the store, post office, etc.
I would encourage all to keep a little bit on hand. And it goes without saying, keep plenty of food, water and means of water filtration as well.
Keep stacking!
Gee, I wonder if the god-king and friends thought about the inevitability of Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz once the missiles started flying.
It was all part of the plan, you know. Higher oil prices are good for the oil companies and their owners.
It absolutely was the plan. Why do you think Venezuela was first? It was so their oil could replace Iran’s in the market.
But Israel sees the winds changing directions and went early. That part I believe, and I also believe the Trump admin is furious about it. If you think that Rubio just slipped that little tidbit out there on his own, I have a bridge for sale you should look at.
Trumb is a moron. A lying, traitorous, self-aggrandizing, cheetoh-joo moron.
If any of his so called enemies (kinda convinced that most of all that is theatre/kafabe) are willing, getting him put up on charges of treason for conspiring to wage war on behalf of another nation would be easier than Dan Issel on a pump-fake layup.
Having taken out the entire leadership bench of Iran, trumb has turned to suggesting arming the suunis and thereby making Iran into a factionalized war zone a la syria.
Which plays directly into izreel’s long term goals of greater izreel and eventual worldwide hegemony.
The us military may well collapse due to lack of munitions and eventual defeat by the smaller Iran, and legal attacks from the mAga foes domestically (likely funded by izreel and the rothschilds). In the wake of military defeat they will finally collapse the economy (which is happening in real time before our eyes anyway).
This will all be blamed on trumb, just as Mr. Sido suggested some several months ago.
Best case for trumb is to somehow survive this and then get impeached in 2027 when the bolsheviks regain control on the backs of more hard left, cia operatives that will run on, irony of ironies, an anti izreel platform.
Best case for most of us is…well we have all discussed that plenty.
Make the most of the time you have left.
Go long on squats and power cleans. Go short on donuts. You’re welcome.
Trump just opened the strait, period – and charged people the freight. Like him or hate him, the dude understands trade. The world no longer has a reference point for American power. Yikes.
Gas up .50 cents locally. Went outside the confines of Red State and it was even more over there.
Thanks Don McCain and Hymie.
Just (mostly) filled my tank today out in sunny CA – $5.09/gallon. I commute 50 miles per day in a truck that gets 12-14mpg. This is gonna be swell…
Hell, now all we need is a huge avian flue outbreak to double egg prices, and a toilet paper shortage, and we’ll have the Trifecta of economic ruination.
Speaking of price hikes, I went grocery shopping the other night, and discovered quite a few substantial price increases since my last major shopping trip nearly two weeks ago. The brand of milk I usually buy is up 18% in one shot, a particular brand of white queso dip I sometimes buy for a snack just went up a full dollar (and has now increased two dollars in the last 24 months). A jar of decent (refrigerated) dill pickle spears is damn near $6 ($5.89) and bread, buns and rolls are all up a between 4-10+%. Several varieties of cheese are up noticably as well. While I don’t buy many, I noticed several brands of frozen pizza just went up also, some as much as $1.10 per unit.
It goes without saying that beef prices are way up, and chicken as well. I did buy a reduced (was at its sell by date) sizeable beef round roast at 50% off, for $14 and threw it in the deep freeze. My point in all this is that the price increases are not slowing down, and now with fuel costs spiking (and probably for some time to come) we are going to take it in the ass again. I don’t know how many more hits this joint can take before the wheels fall off, but the breaking point has to be close.
There is a guy named Sam Mercagliano who puts out YouTube videos called ‘What’s going on with shipping?” He is a retired merchant marine skipper, and he seems to know pretty much everything about commercial maritime operations.
Anyway, right now he is putting out daily update videos while this new war is ongoing. In today’s update he went into a lot of detail about exactly how maritime shipping insurance works, the different tiers of coverage, and the current rates.
He also said the Strait of Hormuz is NOT closed, it is in fact open. And in fact, the Iranian oil tanker loading facilities just North of the Strait is undamaged and still open for business. But the main problem is most tankers do not want to run the Strait naked (without war insurance) so very few ships are willing to risk running through the Strait.
SoTrump offering to underwrite the insurance is HUGE. It is probably the single biggest thing that will get the tankers sailing through the Strait of Hormuz again, and keeping the oil moving. I also find it most interesting that even with a war going on, Iran is still open for business. I find it even more interesting that we have apparently refrained from destroying their oil tanker port facilities.
The way I see it is that this is yet another method by the juice to steal and further impoverish Americans and everyone else who’s not privileged. (It’s a repeat like the 2008 sub-prime mortgage fiasco and the FIRST Depression of 1929 convincing everyone that all of these events are organic rather than orchestrated well in advance). After innumerable events like these, and them getting away scott-free, there’s no excuse for believing anything they tell us. As always, they’re illegally scooping up the meagre savings which the dying middle-class has left under the pretense that there’s a “legitimate” reason behind stealing your savings (artificial oil-shortage). We’re all being played; always have been. Think about it. They installed one of their own in Syria: Yonatan Zvi David DISGUISED as Syria’s new infiltrated leader Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani. In reality, there’s no “oil-crisis”. This is yet another swindle. They use our trust against us. And we’re slowly starving to death because of that trust. Remember Holodomor!
I 100%% guarantee that Trump made that post before talking to his Admirals in the Navy.
The problem is that at it’s narrowest the Straight of Hormuz is 35 miles wide and the whole Northern shore is Iran with tons of hidden artillery and missiles. On a Navy warship, if you fire a missile from hundreds of miles away, you have the time to see it and intercept it.
At 35 miles away, it’s seconds and our ships couldn’t adequately protect themselves.
It’s a good idea but not practical. It is obvious that Nuttyahoo pulled Trump into this due to blackmail and bribes and there was no real long term plan.
We are now into ANOTHER fucking mess in the Middle East thanks to our “Greatest Ally Ever”. 💩

And the world’s largest LNG terminal in Qatar is closed, too. Economic turmoil, incoming.
Much to my surprise, this evening gas locally (87 octane) was still 2.99/gal, which is up 10¢ per gallon (at the same location I usually fuel at), and yet some stations near here were already at $2.99/gal as far back as late last week. So, it appears the full impact of our latest fucking around in the sandbox hasn’t yet been realized. I topped off, as I was down not quite a quarter of a tank. I expect we will see another jump before the weekend.
