Fight over jeans led to deadly shooting of teen in Raleigh, family says
A southeast Raleigh family says a fight over a pair of designer jeans led to a deadly shooting that claimed the life of 15-year-old Cayden Alston-Arnold.
Cayden, a freshman at Southeast Raleigh High School, died Friday night in a hospital hours after he was shot in his family’s home on Springshire Court in the Walnut Creek neighborhood near Interstate 440.
Following the shooting, Raleigh police arrested one of Cayden’s two underage friends who came to the house that day.
“Friends” means something different in the 2G community than it does in the White community.

According to Alston, the suspect first claimed Cayden accidentally shot himself.
“[Cayden] trusted a lot of people he shouldn’t have trusted,” Alston said.
Alston told CBS 17 that his son was shot because of his jeans.
“[They] came over here with the intent to shoot Cayden,” he said. “They had been planning it for days over some Ksubi jeans. Just envy and jealously.
“They were envious of him for a number of things,” Alston said. “But they wanted the jeans.”
I had no idea what “Ksubi jeans” were so I looked them up and they are trashy and cheap looking jeans that of course are super expensive, most right at or even well above $200…

Above state average graduation rates with well below average state test scores means they are just pushing “students” through the system. Only a bare majority of “students” are “are present nearly every school day”.
The obvious question, although one that I doubt occurred to his parents, is why is a 15 year old high school freshman in a school where 3/4 of the students are “low-income” wearing $200+ jeans in the first place? Just practically speaking a 15 year old boy is almost certainly growing and will outgrow those jeans quickly but also it seems like you are asking for trouble. That might be “victim blaming” but then again if you leave your car unlocked, running, with the windows down in Detroit and it gets stolen, yes you are technically the victim of a crime but you are also a dumbass.

I had a lot of friends over to my house when in high school. I do not recall an incident of anyone killing another over a pair of crappy jeans.
