It isn’t a secret that America in 2025 is a pretty bizarre place. Our President is a real estate tycoon and reality TV show host that spends a lot of time patting himself on the back and getting into juvenile squabbles with people on social media. College athletes are signing multi-million dollar contracts and as soon as their seasons are over the best players jump ship and leave for better programs. Young women wallow in social media and think that the key to happiness is getting tats, whoring around with 100 guys and slicing off their breasts. At the same time young men aren’t working, aren’t having sex with anyone and playing video games.
Another thing that is really weird? The most famous and powerful people in our country are the least accomplished among us.

The hubris of Bill Kristol to call anyone else lazy and spoiled is the epitome of chutzpah. A brief look at the career of Bill Kristol shows us a low talent nepo-baby hack. His dad was Irving Kristol, and like many early “neocons” he was a Trotskyite Jew. Irving served in the military in WW II “the 12th Armored Division as a combat infantryman”. Irving Kristol went to City College of New York (CUNY) and met Bill Kristol’s mother, Gertrude Himmelfarb, also Jew at meetings for Marxists. Irving Kristol was a pretty accomplished writer even if you disagree with most of his positions as I do and his wife Gertrude was also a prolific and respected writer. My family had a number of their books in our home library.
Little William Kristol on the other hand? Billy went to a private all boys school in Manhattan, Collegiate School for Boys. Today tuition for this school is $65,900 per year. No public school for Bill! Then Bill skipped his dad’s alma mater of CUNY and instead went right on to Harvard where he completed a B.A. and then a Ph.D. in political science. He was well connected thanks to his family, interning at the White House and then working for Daniel Patrick Moynihan’s Senate campaign. He taught at Penn and Harvard for a while and then went into politics and government where he eventually was instrumental in creating the lies that were used to convince the U.S. to invade Iraq at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. After decades of pretending to be a conservative, Bill outed himself and went full on Trump Derangement Syndrome.
When you look at Bill Kristol, and it is hard to do because he has such a smug face that seems to be begging to be punched, what you see is someone who is successful because of nepotism. His family connections opened doors for him that would not have been open to you or me. I doubt he has ever done an honest day of work in his life. I am not one of those that romanticizes physical labor but if you don’t sweat and strain your back working for at least part of your life, do you understand work? Most of my life has been in white collar office jobs and the stress of those jobs is very, very real but it isn’t the same.
Kristol is wealthy and famous because of his parents. He has contributed nothing of value to humanity and instead is at least partially responsible for the mass slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people, mostly Iraqi civilians. He is an awful person that the world has been made worse for his having survived childhood. Because of his cushy gigs he thinks himself fit to sit in judgment of actual Americans who work actual jobs and declare them wanting because they aren’t content with being peasants in the game of life.
He is hardly alone although Kristol is an especially loathsome example. Most of his fellow neocon now Never Trumper brethren are just as bad like David Frum and Jennifer Rubin. Rich Lowry of National Review recently penned an opinion piece claiming that Trump is destroying a world economy where the U.S. is not only at the apex but getting stronger by the day.
According to Lowry, a healthy economy is one where people making stuff are diminishing while people selling stuff made elsewhere are increasing.
The paper notes that the United States is the best in the world in terms of manufacturing output per worker.
As we have lost jobs in manufacturing (5 million since 1990), we’ve picked them up in services (nearly 12 million) and in transportation and logistics (more than 3 million).
The aim of the Trump tariffs is to increase employment in one sector of the economy at the expense of the rest of the economy, which is inherently a bad deal.

All jobs are not created equally and not all employment is the same. Just because Joe Bob has “a job” doesn’t mean it does not matter what Joe Bob is doing. Losing 5 million jobs in manufacturing means we are not doing the basic function of a healthy economic system: adding value. This is something I harp on constantly. When you take a tree and cut it into boards, you are adding value. When those boards are then assembled into something else like a house or a stack of pallets you are again adding value. A stack of 2x4s has more value than a felled tree but the real value is turning those boards into something else. That is what manufacturing does.
Service jobs? Those are jobs like retail clerks and customer service workers. Retail work is fine, I did that in high school and college, but all you are doing is facilitating the final step in a consumer good. All of the value added work has already been done overseas. A nation full of people who are just bagging groceries and handing over receipts is not a nation with a healthy economy and those jobs are disappearing quickly anyway: Sam’s Club plans to remodel all stores, open 15 new locations a year: CEO. As part of the remodeling Sam’s is planning on eliminating cashiers according to Sam’s CEO Chris Nicholas….
Nicholas said the new locations will be modeled after the Grapevine location. The location was previously described as the “store of the future,” with no checkout lanes, store displays of online-only items, and a larger area for fulfilling e-commerce orders for curbside pickup and home delivery. It also features AI-powered exit technology, which is now available in all Sam’s Club locations.
This is the wave of the future and it would be even further along if we didn’t have a ton of problematic people that steal from retailers. I can’t remember the last time I stood in a checkout line, I almost always order my groceries ahead and pick them up or if I go into the store I use the self-checkout because I can ring my order up faster than a cashier. Precisely because most service jobs are not value-adding jobs, they are much easier to replace with automation and AI.
Back to Rich Lowry. Lowry graduated from UVA and started working in “journalism” and by the age of 24 he was working for National Review where he has been ever since and is currently the editor-in-chief. Lowry is a little older than me and has spent a lifetime scribbling his opinions in service of his paymasters. He basically does what I do but he got in good with William F. Buckley Jr., the OG gatekeeper of permissible right-wing opinion, and has been doing it ever since. National Review has always served one single purpose: to prevent the right-wing in America from becoming too right-wing. To be blunt from what I can tell he has never done a useful day of work as an adult and if he had never lived, the world as a whole would have been just fine.

Look at Barack “Barry” Obama, a two term President of these United States. “Obama” has never had a real job and his entire backstory is murky as hell. The guy went from “community organizer” to the Illinois state Senate for a few terms, then became a U.S. Senator in 2005 before running for and winning the Presidency in 2008. From 1997 to 2008, a whopping 11 years, and the guy is in the Oval Office. I used to say Obama was the least distinguished person to ever sit in the Oval Office until his former VP, Pedo Joe Biden, was “elected”. It cuts across parties and it extends much deeper than the Presidency. Most members of Congress have a similar pattern of going to law school, doing some bullshit legal work for a few years and then getting into office and embedding themselves in D.C. like a tick.
As we all know, the “elected” politicians aren’t really even running the joint. There is an army of bureaucrats in the mandarin-class that make the actual rules we have to abide by, and they are just as useless as the political class. If you are my age or older you remember the Democrats as being, at least rhetorically, the party of the working class standing up to The Man. That this was never true is not the point. Now the Democrats represents the two extreme ends in America, the ultra-wealthy and the professional class on the one end, and the non-White poors on the other end. The people who owned basically all of the wealth in America, 70% of all of the accumulated wealth in the U.S. , are Biden voters and almost without exception those people are utterly useless. They have no useful skills and they don’t do anything useful at all and yet they run this country and lord over those of us who actually work for a living.
Of all the sicknesses in our economic system, this is one of the worst: the people who contribute the least to our economy and society are benefitting the most. The least accomplished people in this country wield the most power.
That is why They are so incensed at DOGE cutting wasteful spending because that wasteful spending makes Them rich. The entire D.C. hive is funded by siphoning the productivity of the rest of the country, taking a taste of every single bit of work you do. Basically, Francis and al-Gharbi both suggest mass societies require people skilled at generating words that move people to function at peak efficiency in providing the material output of the cumulative economy. Those same people use this necessity to manipulate the social structure in providing them with more to do, acting as paid accelerationists for fun and profit.
As you note, Those Who Rule are outnumbered by Those Being Ruled. However, a combination of risk aversion and social dynamics insulates the Vampire Squids and their acolytes from overthrow. The masses fear, rightly, that the odds of success against the establishment are slim, and the material gained will be small, while the likelihood of failure is strong, and they will not be able to recover what is lost in the fight (the rich are rich for a reason-people will continue to value their products and services, while the masses are economically insecure because what they have to offer is not unique, and they will not be able to recover even the modest wealth accumulated before the fight).
Additionally, the people who could stop the authorized criminal class in Washington D. C. will not do so because of collegiality: Jeff Sessions was not going to go after his fellow Congress persons as Attorney General because he had developed personal relationships with them. The lesser congress persons, or the lower-level bureaucrats, are not going to want to punish their cohorts, just as a family will not want to see a member punished by outsiders, even if it is deserved.
Lastly, there will be a lack of appreciation or gratitude given by those who benefit from the enforcement of social norms to those within a group of people who do the right thing. Whites give no credit to black families that turn in their criminal offspring or even acknowledge adult behavior among either well-known african-americans or their immediate neighbors (here’s looking at you, 3G4ME). Under those circumstances, why should anyone step out and be a hero, living their so-called values by applying and enforcing those values on themselves and people they care about, not just strangers they don’t care about, when there is nothing to gain, yet much to lose? But that isn’t want management or the public wants. Management wants cashiers to sell credit cards, and upscale memberships. The public contributes to this by having 2G mamas bring little Tray-von and his 12 brethren to steal, pee, and scream while the cashier is trying to ring up an order. Behind her is the woman with 32 credit cards, all of which are overdrawn, and wants to take her $57 worth of meat and leave without paying. Behind that one is an elderly couple who needs help to unload their basket, find their cash, and get out the door. Meanwhile, self check is having every -other- item scanned in hopes no one notices the shortfall. Or the customer who wants to know which of 15 items that the store is out of stock on, is available at which 36 stores closest to them. If they can’t get someone to “help” them, they want a manager to complain to. Every damned thing in this country is out of whack. Be nice to your service people. Someday we will be in a war where they may be able to help you.
Ja, Stealth Spaniel, that also jumped out at me. I twigged to the underlying purpose of “self-service” checkouts years ago. I have used a “self-checkout” a total of one time, and didn’t like the lack of humanity, both for me, and for the store employees booted from employment to the aggrandizement of the top suits’ compensation. And these systems don’t even work all that well; I have seen a staffer essentially tied down to supervising the “self-checkout” stations instead of working as a checkout staffer, in which role they could have serviced the same number of patrons in almost the same amount of time.
But, beyond my loathing of the suit-valorization of kicking people out of jobs, jobs that although often not glorious, give them some agency in their lives, I prefer to suffer the indignity of waiting in line for a chance at a small bit of human interaction, a two-way street, both for me and for the worker. Perhaps they, as do I, even if minimally at times, get a little dose of conviviality in our all too often, solitary, deracinated lives. The lady at the deli counter with her Jesus pin may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I give her respect, and she always wishes me a blessed day. That beats grabbing a package of pre-sliced deli meat or cheese from the refrigerated cases across from the counter, and saving the time that would have been expended by employing her services.

Another stellar post, Arthur. I read about those automated Sams Clubs yesterday and shared the info with my husband (no dog in this hunt; we don’t shop at Sams Club or Costco). My husband summarized “So you are bombarded with cameras and infrared scanners every moment you’re in the store. I don’t want to live in this world.” And a minor quibble about cashiers – no, service jobs are not what a strong economy is built on (as opposed to making things) but those jobs can be done well and add value to a community. I used to use the self check when we lived in the ‘burbs, but either the machines malfunctioned or there was a long line of people who didn’t know how to use it or aliens who thought it was cute to let their 8 year old boys scan things. My only other option was to get in line behind even more aliens to be checked out by an alien cashier.
Where we live now, every service worker is a local lady, and they are courteous, helpful, friendly, efficient, and capable. At the bank, the post office, the local market, or even the nearest Walmart. I have had one negative experience in the two years we’ve lived here – and it was another cashier who approached me and told me the troublesome one had already been ‘counseled’ before and encouraged me to call the manager. I greatly appreciate how pleasant everday interactions and transactions are – these ladies are worth more than their salaries and mere ‘service worker’ or ‘clerk’ title.

First of all, fuck bill kristol and all his ilk in the ass with a rusty chainsaw. Sideways. At low throttle. These people (mostly of a specific tribe, but not exclusively, mind you) have been the cause of more destruction and misery than can ever possibly be quantified.
Second, I sometimes use self checkout at the grocery store because I intentionally do my grocery shopping late in the evening to avoid crowds, and oftentkmes there are no staffed checklanes still open. If there are staffed registers, I’ll generally go to one. But the hardware and software is prone to problems that require staff intervention, so they are not saving much if any time.
Meanwhile, there is one supervisor to 4 or 6 self check lanes, which means they are employing 3-5 fewer cashiers, so the store is certainly saving labor costs. But they’ve now discovered that savings has been offset (or even exceeded) by theft of product enabled by dishonest customers doing sneaky shit at the self checkout.
Some stores here are already removing most (or all) of their self checkouts to combat this problem. This is just the grocers, I’ve not set foot in a Target fagporium since 2008, and haven’t seen the inside of a Walmart since probably at least 2020. By my understanding, both of them are now terrible for checklane staffing, so the self service option is, for all practical purposes, all that is available in many cases.
The larger overarching theme here is that once a person (or entity, such as a country) has peaked – and clearly the FUSA has, probably even prior to my birth – it has only one way to go.
That’s the thing that I wish our side could grasp that it’s not our country anymore and hasn’t been for a long damn time so if we want a better future for our White children then we have to Build a New Homeland and don’t make the same mistakes that were made that has us in such a pickle now…
