LHSAA suspends Capitol High, Thrive Academy football seasons following postgame brawl
What is going on in Louisiana?
The Louisiana High School Athletic Association has suspended the football seasons of both Thrive Academy and Capitol High School following an investigation into a postgame brawl between the two teams that broke out last Friday night.
The ruling comes after the LHSAA Sportsmanship Committee, made up of five active school principals from the executive committee, met separately with administrators from both schools to review written statements, video footage and submitted documentation of the altercation.
Both Thrive Academy and Capitol High are suspended from football competition for the rest of the 2026 season, including all postseason play. Coaching cards for football staff from both schools have also been revoked for one full calendar year…
….(Thrive Academy Superintendent Paul) Sampson also noted that Thrive’s head coach and athletic director vacated their positions a week before the school year began and a replacement coach left after just one week.
Imagine being such an awful school that your coach and AD quit right before school started (meaning the coach spent the last month in two-a-day summer practices in Louisiana) and then your new head coach left a week after the school year began. I wonder what these schools, Thrive Academy and Capitol High, are like?

At least the Louisiana High School Athletic Association is bringing the hammer down, not that it will discourage future chimp outs.

Welp this won’t last long. Remember way back when during the riots they basically all said that blacks need space to riot. That it would be good for everyone if they were allowed to riot and express themselves in their own way. Thats what’s gonna happen with this. They’re gonna say the scholars need well rounded educational opportunities and along with that comes athletic competitions to help them reach their fullest potential blah blah blah blah blah.
So yes this suspension concept is gonna end pretty soon you just wait and see.
At some point I envision Da’Quam sprinting for the goal line and MestifaDavidDavious pulling a Glock and shooting Da’Quam to prevent a touchdown and the white referees will nervously look at one another trying to figure out if they should throw a penalty flag.
