I think the chart underestimates the consanguineous marriages in India – not necessarily 1st cousins marrying each other, like in Pakistan – but people marry others from the same Jati, or sub-caste, based both on profession and geography (local regions). So marriage partners may not be 1st or 2nd cousins, but are still descended from the same ancestors – and all the people in the same area and profession are related as well. Perhaps not as directly as the infamous Patels, but still far more than anywhere in Europe.
Closest example I can think of is people in small Italian mountain villages who didn’t marry blood relatives based on Catholic church proscriptions (which it largely inherited from the actual Romans), but still intermarried others from nearby villages and people who were in the same extended family or profession or region. I noted that when doing my husband’s half Italian genealogy, and it pretty much died out by the early 20th century via mass emigration and then WWI. So it’s been over 100 years since anywhere in the West that White people married even a faint copy of the way they still do in India and Indians and analysts won’t call it consanguineous but it is – or at least a variant.
The Amish have a closed breeding system, you can only loop back and forth in the same family tree so many times. They have a ton of weird genetic disorders.
It’s readily visible among the Amish in our area, although it seems to be more obvious in the males than the females. I’m not sure why that is.
I would agree with that, although I know a family with one really obvious son that is “special” but then two daughters who are also “special” but it isn’t nearly as obvious
Off topic – but there’s a Telegram channel I follow that has a fascinating breakdown of the AfD vote in Saxony-Anhalt. Their huge numbers were from people under 35-40; and many didn’t vote in the last election. Just waiting for expected government/EU reaction and then counter reaction. Hope and pray that within the next few years we see, somewhere in Europe, a real-life example of “Suddenly, for no reason at all . . .”

I have to agree 3G4ME that an awakening in Europe would be a great thing. Maybe, Great Britain, France and The Netherlands follow suit.
