Contra the Plan Trusters who still think Trump has a grand strategic plan in the Middle East, that we are winning the war against Iran, 18 dead American service members is “small potatoes” and that while much higher food and gas prices under Biden were a YUUUGE DEAL but complaining about the same thing under Trump is just whining from losers….I have to say that a billionaire dismissing concerns about data centers from the very people that voted him into office twice isn’t a great look….

Oh that must be it, the only reason you wouldn’t want an enormous data center that uses up a ton of electricity and water being built on what was once productive farm ground is because you just want to be backwards and poor. Very perceptive from a guy who really has bothered to take the time to find out why people are opposed to these monstrosities.
The data center issue is front and center as we approach what looks to be a bloodbath for the GOP in the midterm elections*. Trump is warning that if voters don’t show up to keep the Republicans in charge of Congress that he will be impeached but he doesn’t seem all that concerned with actually making a real case.
It is going to be a problem in neighboring Ohio where Vivek Ramaswamy is (deservedly) in a lot of trouble in his quest to replace Mike DeWine as Governor and former Democrat Senator Sherrod Brown is looking like a real threat to get back into the Senate if he can defeat incumbent Jon Husted.
In 2024 Trump won Ohio 55%-44%, a better result than his prior win in 2016 (he also won the state in 2020). Ohio wasn’t really terribly competitive but now it is very possible that the Buckeye state is going to replace their Governor and one Senator with Democrats, and data centers are a big issue driving that.
All well and good but the question no one seems to ask is this:
Do we need all of these data centers?
What exactly are they doing, what is the purpose of these data centers?
Trump and many others claim they are the economic drivers of the future and that the data center race against China apparently is the equivalent of the space race against the Soviets. I wondered if that was true so I asked Grok to show me a ranking of the top 10 nations by number of data centers and the output was….interesting….

Admittedly this doesn’t differentiate between the scope and scale of one data center versus another, and maybe the numbers out of China aren’t complete or accurate but it sure looks like we already have a YUGE advantage in data centers over China, who trails not just the U.S. by an enormous margin but also Germany and the U.K.. Hell even Canada is not far behind them, and Canada has huge tracts of land that are not only empty and undeveloped but useless for agriculture….

Anyway, a more than 12 to 1 advantage in data center makes building infinity more data centers less urgent to be sure. That doesn’t stop shills from across the spectrum from lining up for bags of money to push the “if we don’t build infinity data centers we will lose to the godless Commies in China” party line.

Now we are being told that data centers will reduce your electric bill or even as is being promised in West Virginia, lead to the elimination of the state income tax. It is the latest pie-in-the-sky promise we have heard over and over and over again.
When the Ohio Turnpike was built, as my dearly departed mum endlessly groused, it was supposed to be a toll road only until the original construction was completed. Meanwhile you still pay to use it. The various state lotteries were going to be a windfall that would fund the schools (the ol’ “Won’t someone think of the children” shtick). Last I checked I still pay property taxes to fund the local public schools I never used. Legal marijuana is supposed to bring in enormous tax revenue that will be used to fix the roads. I drive a lot in Michigan and let me say those people need to smoke a lot more dope because their roads still suck. They also have the world’s largest collection of asinine billboards advertising pot shops.
Perhaps I am wrong but it seems to me that no one has really made a compelling case for infinity data centers, much less these enormous hyperscale data centers. It more feels like a giant self-fulfilling prophecy, we need more data centers because we need more data centers, and billions are spent on constructing these things we probably don’t need, they are using enormous amounts of land, electricity and water and apparently can ignore the rules about things like wetlands.
I thought we were going to get manufacturing coming back to America but instead we just get data centers no one wants and no one can seem to explain why we need other than “Just because”. Without asking anyone, Trump and company have bet the economic future of America on data centers.
*Yes, all elections are fake and gay.
I hope the midterms send the right message to this draft-dodging blowhard and his minions. His impeachment cannot come soon enough.
They deserve to get hammered but I think most Republicans would rather not be in power anyway
Not just impeachment, but the grand indignity of being the only president removed from office.
And hopefully prosecuted for all of the grift, along with his kids.
Information is global.
July 2026, after my credit card was hacked during an order with Costco, I instantly spoke with ‘Customer Service’ in Jamaica and Philippines.
.
Could any Data Center be on a ship, anyplace off-shore?
Endless amounts of water, and after they are moored in some sunny spot, endless photovoltaic?
.
Something does not add up.
What is the magician’s other hand doing?
I get the impression all these are diversions (while the khazars import another sixty million ILLxGxL bio-weapons?).

An aside:
What is in Argentina beef?
Why now?
It seems like there are plenty of places where it would make more sense, Musk was talking about putting them in orbit which would solve the cooling problem.
Yeah,
Or we can build them under the ocean…just like the heathen Chinee are doing.
The economic future of this country is going down the drain data centers or not. I can give you 40.125 trillion reasons why and going up at 3 billion daily.
Most people don’t even pretend to care about that, if you don’t think about it maybe it will go away
When he dropped this giant turd of a tweet a week or so ago, my immediate reaction was “fuck this guy”. Not just for the content of the message, but for the tone. This asshole wanker, with his smug condescension, talking down to me like I’m some sort of rube who doesn’t know what’s good for him. GTFO with that noise, especially since the claim data centers will improve the lives of the masses is self evidently false on numerous points. There is the environmental impact, the economic impact (massive increases in electric and water rates for utility customers who end up subsidizing the huge over-user of such services to the detriment of all others), the fact they create no real jobs long term (only a handful of people are needed to run and maintain them, so once initial construction is finished, the locals see no employment benefit from them whatsoever), and the fact they are a permanent blight on the surrounding area, make them nothing but a huge liability for everyone but the filthy rich tech oligarchs that own and run the damn things. Any benefits that might accrue are solely to bug tech and big government, and both of them can piss all the way off. We don’t want what they’re selling.
This is tantamount to Trump’s “Marie Antoinette moment”; proclaiming that we can all eat cake (more like a shit sandwich, actually) whether we want it or not. Ultimatums are the tools of tyrants, so no, I don’t have to accept this garbage, and if the smarmy orange man is lucky, he’ll never encounter me anywhere that I have the opportunity to kick the shit out of his fat, arrogant and obnoxious ass.
He really deserves to get impeached for the third time and if he gets removed from office, I won’t shed a tear. Fuck that guy is right.
It’s all for the military.
They will ramrod it all through as these will be “Military Installations” and thus under a different kind of law. Eminent Domain.
The data centers will control data, people, movement, and access to your funds, benefits, healthcare. There is really nothing it won’t touch and if there is then it will be squashed. Nothing will be bought of sold with out digital control. Hmm. Seems to me I read about that happening in the future, somewhere, hmm where was that info?
In another note: 21 US banks just signed on for the access to digital dollar. The deal is they buy a dollar of US debt (treasury bonds) for access to one dollar digital.
If that is the case and we just merged our military with Israel, that opens all sorts of additional issues.
Who really runs this country is becoming more and more obvious.
Data centers won’t do anything for the locals. They don’t do anything now.
You should look at how’s they setup these entities to build then run these things, all backed by big tech. But since it’s a guarantee it’s off the books. There’s like $3-4T in off books paper here.
Many won’t be built. Keep in mind no one in AI is doing anything other than burning truckloads of cash. Add to that the incestuous relationships where one company is loaning the other to buy their stuff. One big circle jerk.
It’ll blow up like the last tech bubble.
This is another valid point that keeps being overlooked (and I neglected to mention it in my earlier comment). AI is the current economic bubble. Just as web 1.0 blew up once upon a time, after outrageous predictions of endless growth from companies that were not only overvalued by orders of magnitude, but were outright cash furnaces for venture capital. The very same thing is occuring today.
We are right back at the cusp of collapse again, only at much larger scale this time around. Consider that the entire pre-collapse build out of web 1.0, and later web 2.0, never had the direct and massive inflationary effect on the price of commodity tech like RAM and CPU’s that the speculative bubble in AI has caused. Nor did any of those previous bubbles cause runaway increases in the end user cost of electric or water delivered by public utilities.
So much of this is just an outright scam, and that’s yet another reason trump can go perform an anatomically impossible act. When a sitting president comes out and openly advocates for the expansion of an obscene scam that is having – and will continue to have – massively disruptive economic downside for most of the population, he clearly isn’t acting in the best interests of the country, but is actively damaging it instead. I surmise his main reason for doing so is because he’s desperate to keep the bubble inflated so it doesn’t pop on his watch. Everything he’s espousing in terms of economic policy is being done for exactly that purpose now (i.e. attempted manipulation of rates, tariff battles, etc.) to keep the proverbial plates spinning. But he has a big problem: unless he drops dead, or gets impeached and removed from office before the end of this year, I expect it’ll be too late to dodge the damage that’s coming. There is no way he gets all the way to the end of his term (another 2 years, more or less) without the bottom falling out.
Presently in my AO, there are two very large redevelopment projects still in their early stages. These aren’t destined to be data centers, but do represent huge projects of probably hundred of millions of dollars, all in. One is the site of a former regional shopping mall, another is the campus of a major multinational corporation, which has downsized it’s presence here, thereby leaving many acres of old office structures to be demo’d and plans for new retail and high density residential to take their place. The latter even dictated redesign of a major interchange to free up additional property for the planned project.
Progress at both sites has been excruciatingly slow for a year now, and I’m watching them both to see if they stop abruptly, because funds and financing the developer is relying on suddenly get pulled. That is an economic indicator that bears watching, as we saw the same thing happen in the 2008 crisis, and some of the large scale projects that were abandoned then never recovered. Some sit only partially completed today, nearly 20 years on. The same fate awaits many planned data centers (among other things) in this down cycle.
In 2008, I got a call from a biotech firm to come and clear out their offices. Their funding had been pulled, everyone was fired, all files were boxed up, and we were paid to clear out all the remaining furniture, etc.
I wasn’t even sure I’d get paid, but I did it. We hired an Enterprise rental truck, loaded truckload after truckload and hauled it all to a used office furniture supply store. That guy paid me cash for everything: $15 for office chairs, $20 for file cabinets, up to and including $1400 for a foldable conference table. All cash.
I saw the conference table on his floor later for 14K!!!
And I actually did get paid by the company that was down-sizing.
Even better, they called me back because they forgot some lab equipment in a self-storage unit somewhere. I billed them for that disposal, and arranged for a lab equipment company to come, pick it up, and pay me. Never even had to touch it!!
Sweet!!!
I wonder what the used market will be for all the HVAC, water pumps, transformers, and computer equipment will be for these data centers?
If nothing else, the rural meth-heads in the area will have a bonanza of copper wire and piping to recycle…

Then we have this which just goes to show you how insane Merica is putting the fox guarding the chicken coop… Anyone else tired of this shit???

This is all part of that oft-used phrase, “The last act of a dying nation is the looting of its treasury.”
All of the scumbags in D.C and State govt, and all of their unelected bureaucrats, and 1.5 MILLION NGOs, are all looting our treasury.
And We, The dumbass People, do nothing more than pay our taxes/fees/insurance, while we stick our collective thumbs up our collective asses.
Oh, yeah. I forgot: we also vote! Because voting is what a “good citizen” does, right?
Waste. Of. Fucking. Time. [Pardon my French].
I know Brother that’s why I’ve said since 2012 we need our own White Homeland again…There is an estimated 15 to 20 million Pro White or White Adjacent and if they all decided to sacrifice for their future and their race we could have one…
A datacenter near us is running 12 cat diesel engines 24/7 to run it. Its a tiny data center only 20 acres. They have 2 employees.
Officially they are using it to mine bit coin, making 30k profit a month. Assuming bit coin stays high.
Hopalong Rabinowitz the Hymie town assclown has a strategery just like Shrubya Bush.
Mentored by a kike fag rump ranger mob lawyer who died of AIDS. (Roy Cohn)
And just who the F’ elected Kushner?
Ignoring generals who have the strategic view didn’t work out well for Uncle Adi either.
You need those big picture guys for strategy.
The reality is that these things can’t be built at the scale that’s been suggested. The collapse will be . . . interesting.
The actual purpose of these so-called data centers is to be part of the seamless surveillance state that is planned for all of us.
The gummint is running a shell game by supporting the uproar over Flock cameras, while the build-out of Axon and several other similar networks continues apace. They are planning a data collection and social credit system that would rival that of China, where there are 700 million cameras surveilling a population of 1.4 billion.
All that raw data coming in 24/7/365 continuously needs some serious real time data crunching capacity in order to be truly useful and utilizable to The Powers fThat Be. Hence the need for more ‘data centers’.
” I drive a lot in Michigan and let me say those people need to smoke a lot more dope because their roads still suck. ”
That’s no lie. Shittiest roads I ever done seen.
Next Trump will be referring to his base as a basket of deplorables.
Orange Mad Man seems determined not to help Vance win the presidency next.
Well, I don’t trust Vance either. He is compromised by being married to a pajeet (and for who yet knows what other reasons), just a trump is compromised by his fealty to jews (irrespective of the underlying reason for it). God knows I don’t want anybody the democrats will put up, but if we are screwed either way, the difference being only by a matter of degree, does it really matter?
BRD, IMO, it does NOT matter; we are screwed no matter who has titular “leadership.”
Look how we voted for DJT in ’24 in the naive belief that he would make a difference.
Sure, he seems to have (temporarily) closed the border as compared to when the cunt Biden sat the throne but he destroyed our hopes by not deporting the filth, allowing H1b’s to continue the pajeet invasion by India, then blundered into possibly the greatest military disaster ever to be launched–and at the behest of “our greatest ally” — the guy whom Trump fellates daily (in a manner of speaking).
No, it no longer matters, from the viewpoint of “saving” our Nation in its original form.
Best to hope for now is to secure one’s immediate AO, circle the wagons, protect family and be ready and able to apply withering fire when needed.
As Jeff Cooper once said [well, not really, but I can hear him doing so], “Those goblins aren’t going to kill THEMSELVES.”
I’m absolutely in agreement with that assessment. I’ll not bother voting anymore for that very reason. There is no candidate whose campaign platform survives being elected; as soon. As soon as they are in, they sell out. This was pretty well evident with Trump in his first term, when on the evening of the 2020 election, three major bullet points regarding healthcare reform that had been on his campaign website continuously for months, straight up disappeared in an quick edit of the page’s content thus occured mere minutes after the election was called for him. No explanation was needed, I saw it and new right away what it meant.
The fact that we’re SOL will not keep me from rightfully and publicly slagging any and all of these pricks. A liar is a liar, and a whore is a whore. I’ll call them out anywhere I see them. Vance, should be get a shot at the title, will prove to be a huge disappointment, I’m prognosticating that right here and now.
There are “true believers” involved in the AI push who think that
1) If super intelligence is possible it needs to happen here and not with our enemies, and
2) Only such an intelligence can find a way out of the current mess that Western Civilization is in.
But that’s just the sizzle.
For the rest, the massive levels of compute being constructed will provide our elites with the ability to actually sort through the mountains of data that are being collected. This along with things like Flock and Axon cameras (and others, and other devices like smart TVs and automation assistants listening to you all the time) will provide them with the control grid for the third world favela that every Western country is being turned into.
Minority Report meets 1984.
That’s why our entire economy is being funneled into these buildouts, basically the elites figure that either way it represents their best chance at remaining in power indefinitely.
I hope everyone has plenty of food, water, medical, and security supplies, training in how to use them, the ability to make more, and friends to help.
Our time is approaching at speed.
