Charges filed in Steak ‘n Shake fatal shooting
Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the shooting followed a confrontation over a order in the drive-thru involving customers and Steak ‘n Shake employees.
(Jada) Bell, who was driving a white SUV, pulled up to the drive-thru window and threw a drink cup at an employee. Police said that employee retaliated by throwing a beverage at Bell.
Bell took out a handgun and fired several shots through the window, police said.
The employee who threw the drink at Bell, Chauncia Meekins, was shot and killed. Meekins was 32. Meekins’ co-worker was shot in the hand.
According to police, the incident was captured on the restaurant’s surveillance footage. Investigators also determined that Bell’s cell phone was in the area when the shots were fired.
