This is some primo pandering by Gavin “Gruesome” Newsom.
Newsom wants to be President and he knows that to get the Dem nomination you need dey black vote. Biden got the nomination over Sanders in 2020 in large part because of his strong showing among blacks. If you want black votes, you have to do stupid crap like this.

For the first time in the nation’s history, a statewide system will alert residents of missing Black [sic] youths, beginning Jan. 1.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 673, also known as the “Ebony Alert,” into law Sunday.
The legislation enables the California Highway Patrol to authorize alerts announced on the changeable message signs along freeways if a vehicle is involved in a missing person incident.
The CHP can also contact media and use social media to disseminate a bulletin. Supporters of the legislation say young Black [sic] people have too often been classified as “runaways” and therefore get listed as missing less often under the current Amber Alert system.
Under the new law, the CHP will consider an alert for Black [sic] people ages 12 to 25 if the missing person suffers from a mental or physical disability, if there’s a threat of danger or if the individual is being trafficked.
Other circumstances include if the person has disappeared under unexplained or suspicious circumstances or even if there’s a danger due to environmental or weather conditions.

As the article notes, this extends to blacks of up to 25 years of age. That reinforces my position that most blacks are basically the emotional equivalent of overgrown toddlers. It also can be used in the event “there’s a danger due to environmental or weather conditions”. Weather conditions?

Apparently black children wander off a lot and are frequently sex trafficked. I wonder if there is a reason for that?
The Maryland-based Black and Missing Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting awareness of disappeared people of color, noted that 39% of all missing children in the United States in 2022 were Black.
That percentage jumped 2 percentage points from a 2018 FBI report that put the number at 37%. Both percentages are not proportional to the Black population in the U.S., which sits at 14%.
The Congressional Black Caucus also released a report in 2020 showing that 40% of all sex trafficking victims were Black and 57.5% of all juvenile prostitution arrests are of Black children.
I am sure that there is nothing specific in the black community, like for example most blacks being born out of wedlock, that would lead to them being more frequently sex trafficked.
On the bright side, I ignore most Amber alerts as it is as most of them end up cancelled and if this would go nationwide I would be able to immediately dismiss “Ebony Alerts”.
A more serious note. As I said, this pandering by Gruesome Newsom ought to be embarrassing to the black community. The idea that they need their own alert system that extends to 25 year old adults who might be in danger because of bad weather is one of the most patronizing moves to come out of the White liberal paternalistic class in a long time. Sadly most blacks won’t recognize this as pandering that assumes they are not capable of the most basic human functioning without the government standing right there to keep them from wandering into traffic. Hell, they might as well extend it to blacks of all ages. If you are going to pander, nothing is too ridiculous.
I turn off all alerts on my phone, including, and especially the Amber Alert.

I saw 2 last couple monthd were the abductor was unrelated to the abductee… both times the abductor was native. Usually its a non custodial parent.

When asked what was his ‘secret’ to perennially being in the top 3 national sales rankings for his chemical company, a former friend of mine said it was always making sure to pitch the head negroidal (i.e. custodian) at the business (especially gubment) and give him lots of free stuff. Handing out novelties and gift certificates led to endless reoccurring sales orders. The best part was that Shufro and Leroy didn’t care what the price of the chemicals was – naturally because they weren’t paying for them. It’s truly heart-warming to know that ‘missing’ 14+ year old pongoids will have the entire community’s doting attention whilst on their way to a shootout or a looting.

Historically, there used to be groups of white men who’d volunteer to ride out into the night and look for poor little lost black runaways, find them, and bring them back to their home. On the plantation. Glad to see we’re bringing this tradition back. Fun times.
And yeah, my Android has an option to disable Amber alerts, but the provider has grayed that option out and I can’t turn it off. And like others, I’m betting 75% or more are nothing more than custodial disputes between divorced couples.
1. I turn off alerts from family and most friends. Why the F would you even have them on for Uncle Sugar?
