Something I Neglected To Point Out

In my post on Friday, Justice For Cornrows!, I mostly just made fun of the hysteria over a non-existent problem: hair-based discrimination. Like climate change, White supremacy and the Covid “pandemic”, this is yet another phantom menace. I assume that this bill won’t pass the Senate but then again with cucks like Romney it very well might. Jokes aside, there is a more serious side to this legislation:

Proponents of the measure argued that formally banning hair discrimination is necessary because Black people are often penalized under workplace and school dress code policies that frown upon hairstyles such as afros, braids and cornrows.
Linking workplace “discrimination” to “hair styles associated with a particular race or national origin” creates a brand new mess. Here is an example.

Jonquelio Rastadude applies for a job as a manager somewhere.

Despite his silly name, the hiring manager invites him in for an interview.

When Jonquelio shows up he is wearing ragged, wrinkly clothing. His pants are hanging down around his ass. He has on unlaced work boots and is wearing a Lakers jersey. His eyes are bloodshot and he smells like pot. His hair is in dirty, smelly dreadlocks.

The hiring manager takes one look at Jonquelio and realizes this guy is a loser and not someone they would consider hiring for a management position.

After a perfunctory interview, the hiring manager thanks Jonquelio for his time and hustles him out of the office. He immediately sends a “thanks, we will keep your resume on file” rejection letter.

A week later the hiring manager is called into a high level meeting. Corporate counsel is there. Jonquelio is suing the company under the CROWN Act because he was clearly discriminated against by the hiring manager because he wears his hair in a style associated with a particular race. The company is forced to settle the discrimination claim for a million bucks. The hiring manager is fired. Jonquelio spends his share of the settlement on rims, tats and pot.
This law will make it nearly impossible to not hire a black who comes in for an interview or to fire a black once you hire them. The same will be true for Muslims, especially women who wear a head covering. If you don’t hire them or fire them for incompetence, you will get sued under the CROWN act. Once you get them in, you can’t ever get rid of them.
For the unusually smart and conscientious staffing personnel who actually care about their company, it will mean not calling in people with obviously black, Muslim or south Asian names for interviews. But most HR types don’t understand how the company that employs them makes money and they don’t care. They live in a weird little bubble where all that matters is complying with the stupid rules that their fellow HR types created for no reason other than guaranteeing the employment of HR staff. The people who will suffer are the managers who now have employees they can’t discipline and the co-workers who have to pick up the slack.
Rather than telling black people to dress appropriately and act professionally at work like everyone else, this bill is intended to make it incumbent on the employer to work around blacks. Dress code, basic hygiene? Nope, you have to let them dress however they want and just suck it up. If a White person comes to work looking slovenly they of course can be disciplined but minorities? Nope.
This is something in the same genre as getting rid of the SAT/ACT standardized tests. Basically it is tantamount to an admission that a level playing field won’t deliver the results they want so instead you game the system. Everyone knows that a straight A student at some inner city hellhole is not the same academically or intellectually as a B+ student or even maybe a C- student at a solid suburban school. I pointed out the example in my post The Dumbing Down Of America of Marqell McClendon, the black valedictorian of her graduating class at Detroit’s Cody High School who arrived at Michigan State University and promptly struggled with even low level math classes. As the report I cited states:
But nearly half of graduates from Detroit’s main school district must take remedial courses when they get to college, Chalkbeat reported.
Obviously getting great grades at Cody High School (98.5% black as of 2018) doesn’t translate to being prepared for college coursework. On the other hand, the last city where we lived in Michigan before moving to Indiana, Okemos, is about 75 miles from Cody High. When we were there the graduating senior class sent all but two students to college. Okemos is also 75% White and 15% Asian. Being an average student at the high school in Okemos means being smarter than pretty much anyone at any public school in Detroit.
The way to gauge preparedness when prospective students attend wildly different schools is via standardized tests. Everyone takes the same test so you can see basic competency levels in various subjects on a level playing field. Sadly that doesn’t produce the kind of results they want in the area of racial diversity so the solution is to just get rid of the tests or to drastically reduce the weighting of the tests. The same thing is happening in professional schools, in their drive to get more black and brown doctors the admissions criteria for medical school is changing so high achieving White and Asian applicants are being passed over for lower achieving blacks. Your doctor in the future will likely be someone who got into medical school because of their race, not their qualifications. See Medical Madness for more.
Legislation like the CROWN Act is simply another mechanism designed to tilt the playing field toward non-Whites. The fact that it is patronizing to blacks and unfair to Whites doesn’t matter to the people who make these laws. It will only get worse.

Back 20 years ago I was hiring for a junior draftsmen. Had 6 applicants in for interviews.
One showed up for a 8am friday interview at 10, hung over, stinking of booze and piss with a massive stain on there paints that suggested they had slept in them and lost bladder control. When said person didnt get the job I got a call from provincial.authority because they accused me of racism for not hiring them.

    That was then.

A few years ago, I was training a guy to be a superintendent for our company. He was what we used to call back in the day, a "High Yella." Half black/white.

He had occasion to go back in to the pharmacy area to use their sink a few times to get water for his drywall mixing mud. During one of those visits, he overheard the pharmacist saying something to one of her assistants about a "bad penny." This guy automatically took it as a racist slur and made a big deal out of it.

Of course, I had to take the store manager aside and tell him about it, which also meant that he had to tell his district manager about it and I had to call my boss, also.

The guy's reasoning for thinking "bad penny" was racist?… it's the only coin that's a different color.

Long story short,(too late), on the next job, he accused me of being racist and quit. I got a call from my company HQ and was asked to explain, which I did and told the boss that we dodged a bullet with that idiot.

I take people at face value and in 40+ years, that was only the second time someone called me racist. The first time was by a Hispanic guy, coincidentally enough, I was training to take over his own job.

"Your doctor in the future will likely be someone who got into medical school because of their race, not their qualifications."

This is already happening in veterinary colleges.

It's 60s/70s Affirmative Action re-branded. Didn't work any better then.

Not much new here, other than the fact that the entitled losers are being taken seriously now.

Back in the late 80s I worked second shift for a defense contractor, a big one. They were hella proud of their commitment to diversity, way ahead of the curve, but they dumped nearly all of it on my shift to keep them out of sight. One underperforming South American immigrant felt slighted by his lousy raise and poor review, so he lawyered up and sued the company for discrimination.

But of the three leads on the shift, two were hispanic, and one of them was also South American. So this zero actually claimed that he was a victim of discrimination specifically against Ecuadoreans. He named the department manager, the guy who hired him as well as promoted the two hispanic leads, as the guilty party.

This particular manager was the least biased person I've even run across in my professional career, and by his own admission (in court, no less) couldn't find Ecuador on a map if he had to. The case was thrown out, but the zero stayed on for two more years before simply disappearing one day without a trace.

Follow me for more harrowing tales of liberal corporate lunacy from my nearly 40 year career in defense electronics.

I was on a huge job site in Minneapolis, 150 guys working, 1 black guy, 1 black gal both HR, never got dirty. Of course, on the big gov't jobs you must comply with a percentage of minorities.

I thought we were all descendants of Africa? So aren't we all African Americans? Can't we all check that box, are they going pull out a color chart to see if we are black enough?

Yes, my nephew is crazy smart, always been top of his class, applied for medical school ad denied, his liberal parents were confused why he didn't get in. I knew why, he was white.

White people who would have gotten into elite med schools 20 years ago now only get into state schools and White people who are on the margins for admission are passed over. It is going to cost lives.

I don't know about that. Two of my wife's many doctors are from South Asia, one from Pakistan and the other from India. The pulmonologist, from India, has been her doctor for over 20 years. And the endocrinologist, from Pakistan, caught my wife's cancer in it's early stages and probably added twenty years to her life.

It's painting with a broad brush to say that all minorities who go to med school will make bad doctors.

In Canada its worse foreign students pay 10x as much to attend so even though they are from shit hole countries and have poor marks they get in first for the money the school gets.
Then the government claims not enough Canadian kids want to be doctors so they give the foreign med students citizenship.

I'd say 15% of doctors are now people who bought their way in and had reduced requirements to geaduate.

A couple years ago one of them raped a patient in ontario and claimed he didnt know it was wrong.

Tough tootsies on "painting with a broad brush." You are committing the fallacy of equating the far right end of the bell curve with the mass of largely stupid and entirely culturally incompatible people from the subcontinent. Glad to hear your wife's health care is being well managed, but that in no way equates to making a positive judgement on the mass importation of an alien race and culture.

Arthur Sido, two minor quibbles. First, what you 'predict' is already de rigueur – i.e. it is essentially illegal to not interview or hire or attempt to fire a non-White. This law is merely more silliness – and being bothered by it is akin to mourning yet another supreme court slot going to the 'left.' It changes nothing nothing for our side. Second, I object to your conclusion that this is somehow 'patronizing' for blacks. They want every possible exception and gib and, while they don't prefer obvious verbal patronizing when speaking in person, they love being pandered to politically. And even if they didn't, who gives a damn? Their feelings or economic or sociological well being is not my concern. They are not my people.

Sadly the provincial agency seems to attract people who assume that whites are racist.

In my case i pointed out our staff had lots of minorities in the shop/office and the lack of hiring was because he was drunk and no matter the race I will not hire someone drunk at the interview.

To be fair to all the ignorant NeeGrows soon to be doctors, the medical system of mostly White doctors already sucks pretty bad. I'm looking back at my experience with military docs/dentists with fondness, now.

The exception is never the rule. The Hart-Cellar 1965 immigration brought in a boatload of inept, clueless, and outright anti-white hostile minorities. I have a white doctor, a white dentist and a white chiropractor. If I'm shopping for a medical professional, the first thing I do is look at his/her race. If they're not white, I'm not giving them my money.
