More news about skyrocketing inflation, up at least 7% (likely the real number is much higher) in December 2021….
Price increases were widespread: Although energy prices fell 1.1% in December from the previous month, they’re still up 29.3% from last year. Gasoline, on average, costs 49.6% than it did last year. Food prices have also climbed 6.3% higher over the year, while used car and truck prices – a major component of the inflation increase – are up 37.3%.
Nothing to see here, this is all just fine.
There is also an Acetylene shortage as I found out last week when I went in buy some, the guy said they were out and it would be a few days before they got more. The price for a medium tank was around 65 – 70 bucks last year, now it is running around $100. Staring to feel like Cuba here.
Every week it's something different that is cleaned out at our local grocer. Last week it was french fries, of all things. One week it was heavy cream, another week onion rings (in restaurants, too). Chicken wings and pasta have been in short supply and have had purchase limits imposed for literally months now. Supplies of paper goods ebb and flow. And what supplies there are have shot up in price. We bought two prime ribs for a large Christmas dinner gathering, which set us back a staggering $170 (at $14.99 per pound. In Texas.)
No shortage of booze down this way, however. Gotta keep the proles anesthetized.

The price of chicken wings is out of control, both at restaurants and from retailers.
I am not sure what that is.
Up here in Ontario chicken wings can't be found anywhere! Today was particularly bad at the large grocery store we visited – the price of tenderloin beef is now up to $88.00/kg (Cdn). And the chicken section was EMPTY. All there was in there was some ground chicken and packages of gizzards. Seriously. So meat is now either unaffordable, or unavailable. Well, there's still pork – too bad about all those thousands of Muslims the government imported over the last 10 years. Don't know what they'll eat; maybe the brainiacs can try their "eat bugs" strategy on them.
